Are you talking about gemini? There are different names, I’m not sure which move you are referring to but give me a little more info and I will try to help. Is it an inversion with the outside leg hooked at the knee? Don’t stress, just give it a rest for a while and work on other things and go back to it later.
She’s talking about the knee hold, like the thigh hold, but with the knee you know. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif -
Its more than likely a lack of flexibility. it WILL hurt like a bleep https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif when you are first leaning this move. It hurrrrrtts. Remember too everyone’s legs are different lengths and sizes,….so while you do want the pole up as far as possible towards your knee and not on your calf…you may not be able to get your leg in exactly the same spot as me.

Here is a vid of my first attempts at the full cartwheel and true grip cartwheel mount. You will see it at 5:50 its kinda a long vid of fleur and I.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hV3S2q1kdo&feature=channel_page

Oh, I totally understand what your saying…..there is a lot of names for moves that I look at and think hmmmm thats not what I would call it. LOL It wasn’t bitchy, just means you’ve got a good eye https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif

I would stop using the grip aid. They tend to leave a nasty residue behind and if your only cleaning the pole with water….you’ll never get it all off. So if you don’t have alcohol yet, then clean your pole really well, with soap and water, rinse well. Then no more grip aid. Poles always start off slippery, you just have to give them a chance to warm up. If you feel the need to use grip aids, do it at the end of a work out and only for working on inverts and holds, NEVER before working on spins. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Well I guess if we were talking about gymnastics…then yes that would be a round off. But its coming off the cartwheel mount so, that’s why its call a full cartwheel. We just aren’t that technical in pole yet, I guess. LOL. I am able to do this move. I will post it sometime…I kind of forget about it because I like to practice in heels, and will as you would guess, not a safe move to work on in heels! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif Your gonna need to be extremely comfortable with your cartwheel mount, and also being able to do a jack knife is very helpful and I would recommend having those two moves down solid, before attempting the full cartwheel. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

If you think you might ever want to compete or dance in a club, then I would go with the 50mm, because that is the standard size pole in the US. If its just for fitness and fun at home than either one is fine. It can be difficult, to switch from a small pole, to a large pole, and pretty much, no trouble at all to move to a smaller size, just so your aware. I use the 45 and 50 and love them both, but if I use my 45 exclusively for too long my grip suffers on the 50mm. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

What kind of finish is on your pole?
do you have dry, or sweaty hands?
is the climate hot or cool in your pole room?
How long have you been dancing?
and last do you use any grip aids? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif -

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif YOU HAVE TO LOOSEN THE NUT FIRST!!! You may have broken you pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif If you can’t get the big nut back up away from the pole, you will have to order a new top half of the pole. I’m guessing you totally stripped the treads.

Wow, I have had so many pole dancing dreams, I can’t even recall how many https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif I do know its usually me just doing amazingly advanced stuff, that I don’t think would be humanly possible….The dreams have always been, just in my own home.I don’t think I have ever had a dream where I was performing, not yet anyway. Sometimes I dream about a move that I’m trying to learn, and it plays over and over alllll night long, now that, gets annoying, kinda like a song that just wont get out of your head! LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

Continuing to work on you shoulder mounts can help. A good way to start building up strength of the air invert, and the SM, is to start inverting with out ANY momentum. Here are two of my favorite ways to practice this……oh, I think Roxy? is that mrstones new name..anyway I think she had a vid of herself inverting but with her legs in a V position from the START of the move. That is an excellent way to build abdominal strength. I would start with something a bit easier, like a roll invert. So the basic idea is… to try and roll yourself up into an invert. So feet out in front of the pole, bring your knees towards your chest, and lift yourself into an invert. Not jumping, kicking no momentum. This one is the easiest of the two, but by all means, they are NOT easy. So don’t get upset when they seem impossible.
