Welcome! So glad you found us. That looked like a scary crash https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif !!! Pole dance is so much fun and a fab work out, but its very demanding on the body. With that being said, I would highly recommend starting off with some strength training, before hitting the pole dance too heavily. Learning how to properly hold your shoulders and back while pole dancing will be SUPER important! With your history it would be wise, to really focus on injury prevention https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Warming up and stretching (after pole dance) will be very important too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif I think you will love the 50mm X, its a billion times better than peek a poo (yes I said poo) lol. IF you have questions feel free to ask us!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I give a big second to NEVER DO THINGS BEHIND HIS BACK! Foxy, have you tried making a video just for him as a surprise? He might really like that https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif My hubby and I have an agreement, I don’t post any videos to youtube without him seeing it first. I can post whatever I please here though! I do special dances, and surprise vids just for him, he really appreciates it, (at least he seems to) A LOT of people get to see his wife, so I want to make sure he feels he gets my full attention sometimes too. I did Christina Aguilera "Aint no other man" for his first surprise vid. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif Let him know that the other vids you do, are just for the girls….that’s why I love doing all types of vids on here, I don’t feel like I’m gonna get a bunch on guys criticizing or sending stupid emails to me. I get to dance for my girls!! Studio Veena is about supporting women, not entertaining men. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

I’m not entirealy sure, if its that you feel (or he feels) that by posting or being in chat rooms will put you in danger? Or is it that he doesn’t want anyone to find out you pole dance?
If its for your safety, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif then I would think, things like myspace, facebook and having a youtube account would be a no, no. If someone want to find you then there are plenty of ways to do it. I hate the fact that the media blows things out of proportion, telling us, our children will be kidnapped if we let them play at a park, we’ll all get swine flu https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_porc.gif your identity will be stolen if you buy online, and don’t for get…..the sky is falling too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif Yes bad things happen, but I won’t stop living my life because something "could happen". This is coming from someone who used to be EXTREMELY paranoid, that bad things would happen all the time. There was a brief period of time where, I had panic attacks at the thought of driving in a car, among other things. I feel really sad when people let fear stop them from doing what they want.
If you or he are worried that someone will find out…. Well, my family doesn’t like the fact I dance….they are cool with it IF, I keep the wiggle out. LOL Fitness only! The first video I posted to youtube was my Brittany Spears video (the one of me in the tall boots). I felt awful, so I decided to try to loose the sexy, in a few vids after. I tried mostly moves, no dance (well no wiggle). It just wasn’t fun for me though…I express the music through my pole dance, and I was frustrated that if I expressed myself the way I wanted, (with wiggles) lol I would disappoint my family and look like a bad mom. BUT I became tired of doing things to please others…..so I brought sexy back. Well now my family really doesn’t care to talk about my business, but I have decided to no longer feel like I should hide what I do. We are sexual beings, and I don’t think pole dancing in a sensual way is wrong. Regardless of how I dance…I’m still a kind, respectful, loving person, even though I have sexy vids on the internet. Its sad that professionals, like teachers ect have to be so careful. Its annoying that if a woman was an exotic dancer, that some how we as a society can decide that, this woman isn’t fit to be a professional. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
Your not weird or alone to feel worried, it’s how, we’ve been taught to feel. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif

Is it just me, or does it look taller than most other stage poles? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif I’m no expert but it looks really tall to me… Veena, you saw it in real life, am I imagining things???
To be honest that’s the first video I’ve seen with Jamilla https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_silent.gif I think I may need to do some major YouTube-ing and get with the program here!
Your not imagining things….it IS taller than any other stage pole I know of. I think the actual pole, stage not included, is 8 0r 9 ft tall and it has spinny mode! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif -
Sound like an X pole would work great then https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif On size isn’t better than another. My 45 is easier on my wrist, but 50 is the standard size in the US right now. If you like what you use in the studio then go with that size…changes are they have 50mm (2in) poles. If you want to try something new then get the 45. Keep in mind that is its no problem to switch from larger to smaller but really frustrating to go from small to larger diameter. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Yes its normal to be extremely sore!! To help with sore muscles be sure to stretch after your work out, drink a lot of water, and don’t work the same muscle groups in a row. A bath in epsom salts will feel good too. You really can’t do anything to avoid becoming sore, its just part of your body dusting to the new stress placed on it.
With that being said, when your new to pole dance, don’t work on spins or inverts every day! Spins/inverts require you to use your whole upper body, so if you did a strength training work out the day before, you don’t want to do spins the next day, unless you only trained your lower body the day before. Once you become more advanced you can, train more often, but as a beginner you will put yourself at risk for over use injury, if you don’t take a day for recovery. If you want to do some type of pole dancing every day (cuz I know its so darn addictive) try this. Do your strength moves like you have been, which should not be daily, but, every other day! Then at the end of your strength training, add your spins practice. Rest the next day, or you could work on transitions, stretching, or just dance around the pole. One more thing, make sure when your working on your spins, your keeping your shoulders back and down, your shoulders will thank you for it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I have a lesson called pole walking, this will give you the proper technique for getting momentum out of your spins and teach you how to engage your shoulders. Remember the lessons are on static, don’t try that technique on spinny…..you’ll fly out the window. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif -
Are the metal beams exposed, and how wide are they if they are? You said you used a removable pole before, and it worked fine with the beams? Do you know what brand it was?
There is no screws to attach the X pole, it works the same as the one you rented, tension. So if you were happy with that then you’ll love the X pole too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif If you like brass I would go with the TG X pole. I don’t think its hard to put up, but that’s just my opinion. I had to take mine down and put it back up a lot in my old home, by myself…we were selling the house. As for shipping time, it really depends, if the pole you order is in stock, and you don’t order on a week end, it can be a few days. It really depends on time of odder and supply. I can’t promise any specific time. We place your order, the same day we receive them. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I have a pair of harbinger gloves, for weight training. They are a few years old and worn down, but I tried them on pole a few times. They worked ok, didn’t give me super grip or anything, my hands alone, griped better, but they weren’t impossible to use. You could use them to help with sweaty hand and calluses trouble. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
