AdministratorApril 16, 2012 at 5:10 pm in reply to: Shoulder Mount Grips! Which one for what move…?To clarify….Princess grip the shoulder you mount on has the arm behind and fully extended, but not twisted…at least that is what I know of the Princess grip. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

AdministratorApril 16, 2012 at 5:03 pm in reply to: Shoulder Mount Grips! Which one for what move…?The Prince's isn't the Veena grip at least that's not what it was a few yrs ago!! The hand is behind like the cup grip, but extended. You can't get into the super invert with out your shoulder…but rather you HOLD it. Here's a link……At 1:12 You'll see I'm not using my shoulder at all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV9hkblfy3E

This is an all around good roller and it's the one I use in the lessons, it's on Amazon! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MVHOQA/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=giggecom-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000MVHOQA

AdministratorApril 16, 2012 at 4:46 pm in reply to: Shoulder Mount Grips! Which one for what move…?Both the Cup and Veena grip are very secure when done properly. I use both, all the time, and as mentioned, the Cup grip tends to work best for the dismount and the Veena for flips, but they're not the only options. You'll see in my videos on spin mode, I'll use the Veena grip the most because I can super invert with ease and security…I can even hold myself without having my shoulder or collarbone touching only my hands. It's a fun feeling! lol
I do not suggest using the twisted grip. There's useally several ways to do pole moves and several grips that can be used. It's about finding what works for your body. I only teach and use the Veena and cup grip because these are the 2 most suitable for all, not because they're the only grips out there. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

No Linda, there has never been an award. The goal of the challenge is to give everyone an idea to work with for a month. There are so many new polers that sign up every day that I wanted to make sure everyone felt welcome to participate, regardless of level. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Tha'ts great to hear cesca! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Maybe double check to make sure your placing the pole far enough in towards the arm pit when you invert, then you wont place as much pressure on the rib. Feel free to post a video if you ever want some feed back.

When you say rib pain are you talking about up higher or down low. If it's up higher and hurts to inhale or exhale I bet you've pulled an intercostal musicle. Could be something else too but that's a pretty common inury. You might want to take a look at technique to make sure your scapula is neutral ( Lesson on neutral https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/0225276c-b90a-11df-856f-001b214581be ) and arms are not too high when preparing for the invert.
These lessons will help you build up the proper strength and tequnice for inverting.

I’ve put my poles up in many rentals, as long as you follow the instructions and put it up right you’ll be fine! In fact I’m in a rental right now and I’ll be putting up a pole soon 🙂

I know it's really hard to have people, especially those you love, not understand why you enjoy pole dance and how difficult pole really is. I still have family members that do not approve. My older siblings and parents didn't know what to think at first, and we're uncomfortable with my poling. But over time they saw how much it meant to me and now see the beauty in it. Maybe someday the other family members will come around or maybe not. I can't change who I am and stop doing what I love for someone else!
You cannot change others, the only thing you can control is your actions and reactions. The more pole dancers come out and start talking about pole instead of avoiding it the better!
Everyone's situation is different but we're always here for you when you need to vent! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

I guess it would depend on what kind of mobility they had. I would think spin mode would be good and would allow the person to have a little momentum for spins and they could pull themselves up into holds. If they had some use of their legs they could possibly do sits and plank variations. But if they could stand then Static would be the best option.

I've always loved music, played instruments and liked to sing. But nothing has allowed me to express myself like pole dance. Regardless of what you choose to wear or not wear, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Pole Dance can be the most amazing blend of art and strength!

Someone else on the site had posted about developing a knot where they shoulder mount. Not sure whatever happened, if it resolved it’s self. Are you making sure you’re mounting right by the neck?
