Yes, I totally agree with recording yourself! Also if you're taking the lessons the NEW Routines section would be helpful. The routine lessons are all about flow and putting things together so you'll get an idea on how to use the arms as well.

Yes if it continues to hurt you should see someone. Also remember to include abdominal training, strong abs help support your back too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Your back should not be hurting after stretching or poling. It may feel sore muscularly but not painful along the spine. If you're taking the lessons there great conditioning exercises that would be helpful. I feel it's important to learn how to use the smaller muscles of the back to protect the spine when back bending. The back mobility routine would also be helpful.
The torso twist, spinal contraction and superman back are the conditioning lessons that would be helpful. There is a foam roller lesson for the upper and lower back as well. Here is the link for the 20 minute back mobility routine. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif4f5fbd45-6c18-4371-84a6-3f4a0ac37250

It does sound like over use. If you have the lessons you could try some of the hand and forearm stretches and foam/ball rolling techniques, they feel so good! I bet you'll feel better soon if you take a little break, if not I would see a DR. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Jadorebree, Here's a video on making your own hoop it's an inexpensive why to try different sizes. https://www.studioveena.com/videos/view/4e89c4a6-5c1c-4036-ad98-42e60ac37250 https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I don't use my brass x pole much, it's the old finish and I can only stick to it when I'm really sweaty and the temp is hot in my pole room. So it did work well during the summer in Vegas! I prefer Titanium gold in the xpole finishes. Right now though the SV powder coated is my favorite (which is why I wanted to sell it) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Prettypuff1 It's what I call the "pole climb" in the lessons. You can see it here in this video @ 32 seconds https://www.studioveena.com/videos/view/4e4acc99-7194-4ac3-89e1-6bf90ac37250

Yes! That will be the challenge next month! Help me remember ok?!

Yeah added weight isn’t great for hooping tricks. If you can drain it do it.
-
Hehe not a big deal at all 🙂 I’m finding it funny that the moves I love, others find dirty or stripperish. I’m a dirty girl. *wiggles ass*
-
That’s how I climb! Lol

Everyone has great suggestions! I'd like to add pilates to the list and I'll share one of my other favorite past times….hula hooping! It's so fun and a good workout on its own too! I use it for a warm up before I pole and use it for a workout on days I don't pole dance too! I'll add conditioning to my hooping session if I don't pole dance.
Jadorebree, if you do end up taking the lessons here basic hooping is included. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Yes, I call vagina monster booty scoot! lol
I LOVE the Janeiro especially with legs in split variation.
I see why some wouldn't like the "wiggly legs" or open V leg positions but I think they can be done tastefully, they don't always have to come across as vulgar, at least not to me. Maybe I'm just that dirty! HA! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif
I don't like the Twisted grip lift, it's over done, (I'm far more impressed with cartwheel mounts and Handsprings) and not something that most dancers who value their joints should be doing. Leave the Twisted Grips to the Professionals. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

AdministratorApril 24, 2013 at 5:54 pm in reply to: Online Pole Dancing Scholarship Spring 2013 AnnouncementEagleSpirit, there are tons of lessons that do not require a pole, so I say if you're interested you should go for it!! I have flexibility training, conditioning, foam rolling, floorwork and even many of the pole strength could be done without a pole. Also there's hula hooping too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Mssoulpole, you sound like you'll fit right in here! Welcome https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Your best value will be the year, but a lot of members like the 30 day subscription too.
In the lessons you'll always start off with static as you progress you'll have spinning pole lessons mixed in there as well. All inverted moves are taught as static. Keep in mind that all lessons are place in order, so there's no guessing when it comes to what to do next. You might also want to try the 30 day take off program. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Here's a look at how I do the Flag invert. Head down, hips up, then legs open to V, then lift bending the bottom leg. By opening into a V with the legs, them bending the lower leg you'll make the lower body "lighter" for lifting. So the wider the V legs the easier you can make the lift. Also at a certain point you really use the arms pushing hard so be sure the top arm is gripping high enough into the arm pit. The longer your limbs the more challenging this move will be. https://www.studioveena.com/videos/view/4eef9c5f-9318-4a74-93be-071b0ac37250

I slip the most on chrome and Stainless steel, so for me to grip, BOTH the pole AND my skin/body has to be very warm.

It was me 🙂 I don’t have a photo but I do have video https://www.studioveena.com/videos/view/4fe0c268-a108-46d4-b518-0b4e0ac37250

Glittterhips, the pole is not a limited time thing.

Hi Jolenebell, Keep in mind that body weight on the scale can fluctuate anywhere from 2 to 5 pounds. I always tell clients to focus on how they feel (do you have more energy etc) and how their clothes fit, NOT the scale. Keep at the walking! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I'm so happy to hear your thoughts on the pole Saphyre thank you for sharing!!
I had some pole burn the first time I used the pole too! lol I don't have trouble with it now though. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I had an amazing pole workout the other day with it, I was SO happy I could still grip the pole with my legs even when I took a break and cooled off! I always had issues gripping if I cooled off, but not anymore. I hoop for my warm ups so being able to have an open space for that, then putting the pole back up when I'm ready is so amazing to me.
Lyme, remember it's a good idea for performers to use grip aids so as long as you've got your favorite picked out for use on chrome, then you shouldn't have to worry about it too much. I'm kicking myself for not trying these pole earlier!!! I'm in love https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif
