Welcome to the site!! Everyone had great advice. I’l repeat this because it’s something I tell everyone, do not compare your progress with someone else’s, you have your own journey and it will unfold as it’s meant to. Something else to keep in mind, not every move is right for everyone’s body, we all have our strengths. Some dancers may never invert while others will progress very quickly, neither one is better then the other.

The pretzel and ballerina are the same spin, at least when referring to the lessons here 🙂 https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4fc631e5-4354-4c33-8b45-7bf40ac37250

I think the main question was if they were partners BEFORE one of them became an instructor should they be allowed to continue or not?

Have you guys done the flexibility test I have you do in the lesson to see if you’re ready? It could very well be a matter of flexibility. If it’s not lack of flexy, then often it’s a matter of timing.

Did the studio state why they have that policy? Maybe they worry the non instructor pattern would be getting free lessons/help if they work together?

    PFM, share it with us!!!

I’ve dancing in wigs a few times the 2 I’ve used the most are this one, a very long one, hard to dance with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8m86UFq_Wg

And the blond wig, this one is much easier to dance with, I’ve used it for a few videos and even worn it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrNfhOp_rF0

I never bothered to wear a wig cap, just to lazy to get one. lol

If it is abdominal separation from having a baby it can be improved with proper exercise!! I had a 4 finger separation and I’m down to 1 finger. I’m getting ready to go on the road and I’m on my phone but I can send you some great links for exercises. And yes, have your midwife or dr confirm is normal Diastasis Recti. You are correct about not doing sit ups or too much twisting ab work. It is best to avoid working only the Rectus Abdominis and to focus on the Transverse for a while. 💜

Yes, you would need to have a solid caterpillar climb. It’s about having the control of the upper body while in hold so you can safely position the legs. 🙂

Zoiiys, Brass Monkey from a CAR is one of the more difficult ways to move into Brass Monkey. I teach it as an advanced move.

lilredrobinhood, how are you entering into your Brass Monkey? I teach it from an elbow or forearm grip straight edge because it’s easier to ‘sink into’ the knee pit grip from there. Entering from a shoulder mount is a good option too if you are very secure in your SM. I really feel a strong caterpillar and elbow or forearm straight edge is needed to learn a secure Brass Monkey.

May 29, 2014 at 8:38 pm in reply to: reverse grip on spinning.. and a few more questions.

Do you have the lessons here Quindra if so check out the Reverse Grab lesson. I cover both static and spinning pole. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4fc4dc2f-1bd8-4026-9725-02690ac37250 You’ll find 6 related lessons below the main lesson that you can use to condition and stretch for this spin. Also keep in mind this is not an easy spin and it’s not for beginners.

The technique is a bit different between the 2, you don’t use the same body placement and you don’t focus on stepping the body far away from the pole as you would in a static reverse grab. 🙂

If you’re pole has become slick try steam cleaning it, if it’s slick from sweat try a product like Dirty Girl Poletice.
