i had a well known pro tell me in a workshop that if i was deciding between TG and brass to drop the money on brass as she had stopped even selling the TG on her site becauae the finish would come off and be slick underneath…sure enough, the most heavily used area of my TG silver now and feels like stainless steel…plus the finish has gone all weird and pock/ rough on the top and bottom..

ahhh thank you ladies (korinne and sparrow)! after reading about subluxation of the ecu i now know that i need to describe the pain as “ventral” to the doc…the actual subluxation of the ecu is a dorsal phenomenon happening toward the top and side and what i am suffering is under that and slightly forward at the very corner of where my wrist meets the heel of my hand…thank you so much for giving me a place to start cuz so far i had just come up with “ow” and “the doctor is going to tell me i should quit whatever it is that keeps bringing me back in the office”…i really appreciate you!

i was hoping someone could be like “oh yeah that is …blah blah blah” . i had what felt like ripped tendons in my right hand once and actually had a orthopedist tell me “if it hurts when you do that, don’t do that.” i ended up treating it myself. i guess i will break down and go to the doc with yet ANOTHER pole injury lol

has anyone in this thread had a wrist injury that feels like a tendon/ ligament popping to the outside of the pisiform bone in the hand? it’s really painful and sometimes feels like it gets stuck to the outside of the bone…

when you have the strength to attempt a move, your body and your confidence will typically know. as long as you are approaching cautiously and realizing you can get hurt, listening to your body and only attempting things because you see that your muscle development is leading you steadily toward it instead of because someone you know has already got it or because it seems like everyone that posts a video can do it then you will know when you are ready. JUST LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. not the little voice in your head that gets discouraged or everyone else.

i have had two pairs of mighty grip fingerless gloves..for me sweaty hands was my issue and and having a glove on my hands made my fingers even sweatier. during the summer i have to put “certain dri” top shelf antiperspirant on my palms at night. if you think that grip strength is your temporary issue, try kitchen rubber gloves, or close fitting latex or non latex gloves to help you hold poses and built strength without sliding. also, you can wrap your pole with resistance bands to give you rubber grip. i have never wrapped mine bottom to top that way but for the small area i wrapped it really helped. good luck!

wrap resistance bands around your pole from bottom to top. the lighter duty bands are thinner and add less diameter. wrapping from bottom to top makes the layers face down . it will take at least two to cover the surface of the used surface of an 8′ pole and you can tuck the end under tightly at the top to secure or use some other implement.

i think what the previous poster meant was a piece of plywood cut to size…a square that your dome piece just barely fits in would be perfect and provide support and distribute the pressure…the carpet will only protect against superficial scratches and make a likely slipping point for your pole to lose pressure…the circle shapes of your cracks are probably nail or screw pops

Im so glad to see im not the only more “grown” lady who cannot progress if i pole hard more than twice a week. Ive been a home poler for years and when a young lady in my area opened a studio, i spent several months injured because i was in denial that i couldnt run with the younguns any more. I am currently chipping away at the SM too…

some people get really possessive over songs and that’s just darn silly. i would love to see a monthly challenge where everyone dances to the same song. different peoples interpretations of a the same song would be like listening to several people say the word “love”.

Thanks for the tips 🙂 regarding the core, im no feather weight, im about 175lbs and bottom heavy, so a shoulder mount may just be a highly unlikely goal…but ima keep pluggin away cuz im no quitter! And my body benefits whether i reach the goal or not…

i have been poling for over 6 years, almost 7 now…i am not as good as people who have been doing it way less time, but there is no doubt i have love for "poling"…the area that comes naturally is floorwork, fluidity and sensuality….i also have small children and a teenage sdaughter, to whom i have taught many holds, spins, climbs, turns and i have no problem teaching them "pole sport".

i will NOT teach them what the consensus terms "pole  dancing". or, at least not until there 18 or over and have their own sensuality to interpret.

to me the term "pole sport" can encompass ALOT of dance, fluidity, beauty, and strength, and be palatable to a family audience. the "pole dancing" that many of us enjoy would be an uncomfortable watch for a family with children. this is a wonderful, healthful activity that has it's most identifiable roots in sex steeped ground (never mind  that chinese pole could buy beer before strip pole dance was even born google "Mallakhambha")

if it's gonna be an organized event that people will watch and recognize as something that doesn't HAVE to be sensual or sexual, it has to be standardized for scoring and integrity.  if you think that's too bland never compete in their competitions

yep, it's annoying that the people that will make poling a giggle free activity appear to be devoid of the passion that many of us associate with the art. it's doubly annoying that the people that we  have been googling for years, that may have gotten their start as exotic dancers,  will probably never have the notoriety or endorsement loot that the technically pitch perfect people will have hailed at there feet once corporate america sees the financial windfall to be had from polers.

but, although it can pay more bills, notoriety isn't everything. and here is a beautiful thing: i would bet my pole that the people we google and revere, i.e. alethea, veena, karol, jenyne could do a pitch perfect technical performance, emote it, have it move us, and NEVER have to sensual or sexualize one pinky.  but could the gymnasts, athletes and so forth that are doing perfect F10s  move us to beauty, or make us want to be sexy?

    hmmm…

it ain't the end result we're hoping for, but dammit people it's a start. my friends have heard me talk about it for years and still get a look when i tell them what a pretty chair spin my 4yo daughter can do, or how strong my 5yo son is in his inversion. i wouldn't want to flight in orville and wilbur's first plane, but i'm damn sure glad they built it when i need to fly somewhere today.

i think that the problem i have is that the extra flesh that is there gets twisted, and no matter how hard i squeeze there still will be relocating and twisting of the flesh just because it's a couple inches between the pole and the muscle…and so i must learn to embrace the pain! grrrr arrrrgh!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_exclaim.gif

prettypuff1 i have trouble getting the pole to my knee pit too…i think i just need to learn to suck up the pain of the tissue from the back area being pulled to the front…it's hard to take it like a woman when you look down and see your ass meat coming out the front lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif….it does take a little more finessing when there's more body to move around the pole…just gotta do it a little different i reckon.

Yes exactly. And because my thighs are so big at the top they push each other away. So frustrating!
