Thanks, Veena!
I'm not really new to pole but recently started moving onto more advanced intermediate stuff so I'm really starting to feel it in my back and shoulders due to the frequency. But yeah, the majority of the classes involve the scapula and back so I think I need to step back a bit. I guess I just needed to hear it from someone so I didn't feel that I was getting lazy. Thanks again!

Congrats! Climbing can be tough. I skinned my ankle climbing. Keep at it!

I have a 40mm x-pole too and I'm very much in love with it! I think the thing with it is that you need to get it REALLY warmed up. I use Dry Hands too and as the pole gets warmer, it sometimes is even a bit too grippy. Not sure if it's the chrome+new pole+40mm combo that makes it more silppery though. I've never tried a brand new chrome 45mm.

I have mine set up in my room which is carpeted. The carpet doesn't bother me but the lack of space does…so I would say stick to room with more space because I kind of hate poling at home due to space. It's such a shame because my studio only has 45's and 50's and mine is a 40. I love 40's. =[

CKR =[
Funny this post came up. I follow Veena's lesson orders but could not for the love of me figure out where the pole should go in CKR. Decided to try basic invert and inverted crucifix and those were fine…just CKR and when I get to it, probably CAR as well, booooo.

So cute! =]

I'm a bit promiscuous with shorts. I love the Bad Kitty Brazilian shorts (Hurray for no muffin top!)
Lululemon also had some shorts called F52 or something like that but i can't seem to find them online anymore. Anyhow, they are like the Bad Kitty ones.
And lastly, my cheap thrill is a pair of shorts from F21. They are the the classic ones with the bunch up at the side. The tie is striped black and white. UBER cute and only ~$13!

It's quite obvious since they had to come back with a string unnecessary comments. Don't they have anything better to do with their lives other than try to make someone feel badly about themselves? Their comments may sting but in the end, what they say is insignificant as long as you are happy with yourself…and your husband! =] Take care!

I found that they fit true to their size; however, the style is snug and fitted so it depends on how you want it to look.

I'm going to the competition but only to watch =[. Hopefully I'll compete someday! Good luck!

LIke when I show her vidoes of awesome polers and say I wish I could be like that, she says I will with practise . Or when I don't want to tell people at stores what I'm buying uber short shorts or hand anti-perspirants for because I'm shy, she actually says, "So? Who cares if they know you pole dance. It's just exercise." She's so awesome!
In terms of poling herself…I think she's too shy and conscientious to try it herself…or she'll say she's too old to be hopping and flying around like that, lol.

Happy birthday, Veena! Hope you have an awesome one! =]

40mm because I’m barely 4’9″ and have freakishly small hands =T

@Annieloo: I STILL feel like a wannabe pole dancer! I agree, the "you know you're a pole dancer if…" posts are funny and so true! When I read them, I think, "Hmm…a lot of these things sound like me…."
@adAstra: I think that you are going a terrific route on the building foundation. When I started, the studio jumped into dance quite fast and even now after I've completed level 3, I feel I have no upper body strength. It's quite sad =[. I hope you work out the beam issues soon!

Thanks!
Hmm…I hope it's not TOO fitted.

Haha, yeah the cuffs are what got me. Mmmkay, I'm going to order one. It'll probably end up being my pride and joy too. xD
Thanks for info!

Humm…here is something really weird, when I climb, I actually barely use my foot on the initial step. Anyhoo, I'm more of a noob than a seasoned dancer but here's how I do it, I put my shin diagonally across the pole and keep the knee of the same leg almost right next to the pole. I find that you get the maximum surface area of shin to the pole that way. You don't really have to press your shin too hard either, just enough so that if you were drag your leg across the pole, you'd give yourself a bad indian burn. Try thinking of your shin as your "foot" stepping up on a step stool.
I don't know how much this helped but I wanted to post because I also wanted to say hi to a fellow B.C.-er! =]

Love it. <3
Sharing on my FB as well, if you don't mind. =]

MemberAugust 15, 2012 at 8:55 pm in reply to: Newbie Here! Too akward and not in shape enough for pole dancing? You shouldn't have to feel that something is "wrong with ." If the instructors make you feel that way, I don't think you should go back to that studio and surround yourself with that kind of negativity. Everyone learns at their own pace and pole dancing is hard! Keep trying and good luck! =]

@adAstra: You get three days free trial when you first sign up on the forum. I think you have to go to lessons then sign up from there, I can't remember.
@ Adr1enne: I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I finished up to level 3 in a studio recently but decided to take a break to practise and build strength before progresssing…but oh no, how will I know how to train on my own? So! I ended up purchasing the gold membership from here and don't regret it one bit. There are a lot of positive reviews on Veena's lessons so I think you'll definitely benefit and enjoy them. There is a pole app called "Pocket Pole" but they only have videos of the move, you don't get the muscle groups used, points of contacts and such that you see here. Plus, you have to buy the app to see all the moves…the light version has only some moves.

IT WAS SUCH CRAP that I ended up RETURNING it. Moral of the story, don't get Peek-A-Boo.

What a neat thread, it's cool seeing what other polers do. I'm a recent B.Sc. of molecular bio and biochem and am currently working as a research associate at a biomedical company. Still trying to figure out what to do with my life though.

Thanks for the very detailed answer, I learned something new. =]
