Not quite a double brass monkey, knees are close enough but the legs are in the wrong position, bottom knee would have to be pressing against the pole and instead of hanging down your straight out.

Anything involving an armpit grip. I can't even bear the pain long enough to go into or try anything with it. Just my weight being held there and not even my full body weight is enough to make me want to scream. They are soo tender. I've actually almost wondered if maybe I need to try using a numbing agent on them to make them a bit less sensitive until my skin gets used to it.
Thankfully this is the only spot I have had a lot of issues with. Jade, superman, ect no issues. I think my legs are just tougher then most.

It sounds like your cousin probably either A) accidntally did a split for the first time before she was ready, or B) was forced down into a split with help from someone/s else. The reason I say this, is I know of some people that have purposly torn their legs muscles all up by getting as close to a split as possible and then having one or sometimes up to three people bear down on their shoulders until the muscles tear and they are flat on the floor in a split. It sounds like torture and I think it is, but I have seen this done first hand. It was especailly popular with cheer leaders and is NOT the way to go about learning how to do the splits.
For me personally, when I started working on my flexibilty I could hardly touch my toes. It took me two years to be able to to my first perfect split on the floor. And all I did was stretch and pole. There was no pain involved except for that slight pull you feel when your getting a good deep stretch. Stretching and flexibilty training should NEVER be that painful. My very first split I could feel the stretch of being in a split but I was comfortable in it as well.

With your legs, really I have seen it done both ways, I personally pefer crossing my legs at the ankle. But to deal with your fear of pitching forword, try working on it lower to the ground so that way if you fall its on a couple inches. I rember my first superman was like 4 or 5 inches off the ground and I slowly worked my way up to the top of the pole as my confidence increased.

Not an expert, but a thought I had reading this on top of the excercises, if she is really having a hard time beaking the habit, (and if she is willing to do it) having her wear elbow pads like you do for rollerblading, ect would really make her aware of how straight/not striaght her elbows are. Sense the pads like to keep your arms slightly bent just off the way they are shaped and it will be a bit uncomfortable for her to have her elbows heyperextended.

MemberNovember 24, 2011 at 7:50 am in reply to: Leg contortion – Back splits, stag, twisted ballerina…I really don't have too much to add to this, but I did want to send one word of warning with oversplits…when you get good with them be very careful not to accidentally kick yourself in the back of the head if you have heels on. Im bad with this, and have had more heel tip shaped welts on the top back of my head because of this.
As for streching for oversplits (back leg mainly) Ive found using the exercise bands hooked around my foot tend to help me keep my leg in proper alignment for when I am feeling a bit tight. I will see if I can find my camera later on today so I can have the Mr take a few pics of me doing this so it will make more sense.

And this is yet another reason I am thankfull I am a depo user. Otherwise I would probably be running to make sure I dont have these tampons sense they were for sale in my state.

Awesome I cant wait to hear your reviews 😀
As for cleaning brass poles, the way the clubs would clean them was brasso, let sit for a few min, take a clean towel and start rubbing your pole like your waxing a car. Flip the towel over, and use the clean side to really buff it. If you still feel some residue use a bit of rubbing alchol to get rid of that, or in between cleanings.

Thanks for posting those pictures! Please let me know what its like once you have it up. What hight did you get? And more pics would rock too. Ive been highly considering getting the ps 1 piece and Ive actually been looking for posts just like this. Oh and can you let me know if you feel any flex in the pole as well?

Personally I hate makeup. I have to wear it for work, 4-5 nights a week and its a full face. (primer, concelear, foundation, blush, bronzer, powder, eyelid primer, two shades of eyeshadow, brow powder, eyeliner, and mascara) So on my nights off, its no makeup what-so-ever except for the occasional special occasion that I "treat" the Mr to a full face of makup and the hair, ect. Otherwise my hair is tossed into a pony tail and no makup.
To me…makup is…the differance from taking someone from beautiful to glamerous if that makes sense. I am happier when I dont have it on. Altho when I am honest with myself I would say that I am a bit insecure about my under eye circles, and do love that makeup covers them up.

Mine go though a ton of abuse and I have to replace them every 3-4 months. Repairs help make them last longer (electrical tape and super glue are my best friends for repairs.) So try repairing them, clean them every other week with windex and a rag to help keep them smelling nice, and it also cleans off any sweat/residue on the tops of the heels so the grippines stays. I also use black permanent marker to fill in any nicks and dings they get so they stay looking good. I also paint in a line of super glue along all the seams of the heels when I first get them in. The caps can be glued back in as well. I have been known to make a single pair last 6+ months when I have had to doing all this. You cant do much about the streaching, but you can poke new holes in the straps to make the fit a bit tighter. But also I would make sure that you are not putting them on too tight. I have broken more straps that way then anything else.
But in the end they just are not built to withstand the abuse we put them through.

I knew you probably didnt, and I aplogize for kinda exploding on that one. Its just a HUGE hot button with me sense its something I have to correct coustomers, and other people on, on nearly a daily basis. And its a compleatly unfair sterotype.
-
I don't mean any disrespect here, but lets get one thing straight right here and now. "I don't drink, do drugs, party" That is a MASSIVE stereotype. I've been dancing for 5+ years and I'll tell you what I don't drink. I don't party, and I sure as heck have never touched any drugs. And there are many girls like that, that I have met over the years.
-
As an exotic dancer myself I can give you some input. First off if your thinking about it or end up doing it. Dont call yourself a stripper. Yes there is nothing wrong with the word itself but with they way it is used now, it is. So just don't do it. You degrade yourself calling yourself one. (And yes I have had managers get VERY angry when one of the girls refered to herself as a stripper or a customer said the word. But on topic.
From what you are telling me, honestly it will not be a good fit for you. For one a good 99% of clubs REQUIRE you to be at least topless, you dont, you get fired. End of story. And theres no panties, you will be shoving a string up your but everynight, and the heels you love so much to pole in will become the bane of your existance until you get used to walking and dancing in them for 8+hrs a day. (to this day I still moan in happiness everytime I take them off at the end of the night.)
As far as you being shy, thats something you would HAVE to get over if you want to make any money. Sense you have to approach the coustomer, flirt, make him think you like him (or her) and then try to get as many dances as possible out of him.
Further, you will have to be outspoken enough to not allow coustomers to do things they WILL try. Without causing a scene, and still being able to put a smile on your face and go on to the next coustomer afterwords.
You dont make the good money on stage, fair warning. Thats your advertizement basically saying "Hey look how hot I am and look what I can do!"
Most clubs also require you to pay tip out. It varies club to club and is usually based on what time you get there. (the earlier into your shift the better.)
Its good money, but if you just want to do it for the pole I wouldnt recomend it. Its hard hard work. I come home physically and mentaly drained everynight from working. It requires the patience of dealing with a teenager mixed with them in their terrible twos.
Not trying to scare you off just being as blunt and open as possible. Also one more thing to consider, if you really like to drink I would stay away from it. I see too many girls drink way to much every night and thus loose money, let guys get away with more, ect. Its just bad. If you have to drink, do so in great moderation.

I second the makeup picture comment. Maybe instead of hitting on a form of fitness they should be questioning why anyone in their right mind would be having their 1yr old have a facial, or wear makup.

Have you cleaned it yet? Most ship with a film to protect them.

What back issues were/are you having?
I was born with a bad back (spin curves wrong) and becuase of that had to be on pain meds, muscle relaxes, ect most of my life. There were days where I couldnt move and would just sit crying in one spot not being able to move it hurt so bad. My muscles would littlerly freeze up.
How long have you been doing pole & how often?
About 5 years now, 5 or more days a week
Has pole helped?
Yes, very much so.
If yes, how so? (ex. less pain, greater range of movement, etc.)
Sense I started poling, I tend to forget about my past back issues sense they have for the most part have vanished. I know if I say off the pole for more then a couple days becuase the pain starts coming back, and every now and then I will throw my back out but its very uncommon now. (think the last time was around this time last year). I can honestly say that poling saved my back, and lets me live a normal life without pain or discomfort.

This is compleatly my own personal preferance and opinion here before I say anything.
I honestly don't belive in using grip aids period. I feel that by using them you cheet yourself into thinking you can do something that without the aid you can not do. (I actually feel the same way about poling in boots) I understand their use for people whos hands sweat a lot and they need it. But other then that I really do fail to understand why people use them. Again this is just me. I do undestand that while learning a new move it can help you grip better but what about once you stop using the grip aid? You basically have to relearn what you just learned. I have tried it out once when a friend of mine convinced me to try it and frankly it made the moves I already knew far more challanging in a bad way sense I couldnt use the grip I had become used to using. I think that if you have not built up the proper strength or techinique for a move you should keep working on it until you do. Sure it takes longer, but you will never have a handi cap that way.
Again this is my own personal opinion and I do not mean any disrespect to anyone. (Ya'll rock)

I can do the splits with my knee either on the floor or on its side. But one thing I have discovered is in a way its safer having my knee sideways. (with my back foot down on more then one occasion sliding into the split my toenail has gotten caught on an invisible ridge on the floor and needless to say the results suck. Not to mention as others have said its harder to do in heels, possible but harder) Appart from that I really dont notice a differance. Just remember which way your back leg is when you start getting out of the split. I've forgotten before and its resulted in a very very sore hip (dont ask we all have our blond momments) But really just do what you feel most comfortable with.
-
I second the epsom salt. I have acutally been known to take a full bath in epsom salt when my whole body is sore. It may sound odd but in a pinch some bengay rubbed on your feet has helped me in the past.
-
I would say that is for sure a person with a foot fetish. They very well may draw the feet but its more to remember them then anything else. I wouldnt say they are creepy people, most of them are quite nice. But if your not comfortable with that then just tell them that you will have to pass. But you appreciate the compliment.

Im soo glad to hear the good news. Happy birthday to your Mr!!!! *does a happy dance in your and his honor that he is doing better, and home where he should be*
-
Glad to hear the news! And awesome on his levels staying at one point instead of climbing. *sends you and yours more good thoughts and crossed fingers and toes*
Poling really is a great way to work though emotion. And congrats on achieving the new moves.
Here's hoping you have some news soon (and good news). Stay strong!!!
