All this time and I thought it was my fault. My pole is literally slippery all the time. In Florida there is dry and wet humidity all year round. So far poling has become an all day event for me because I have to experiment with the temperature in the room. I try turning on the ac and the fan, turn off ac open windows and use fan, no fan opened windows, etc. I have tried different cleaning solutions like dawn soap, windex, alcohol, and nail polish remover. I thought for a minute that my hands were too sweaty but I don’t sweat anymore than usual unless im working on a new trick. Besides I wash my hands with dawn soap before poling and my hands are so dry that my skin is cracked and still I slip off the pole. I feel like the only time I can pole is when it is hot with no breeze https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif ….but then of course I’m not comfortable trying to workout in those conditions. Something has to give because I hate that my pole practices keep getting interrupted. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Don’t worry about what others think. If it is negative it should motivate you to prove them wrong, either with education or by demonstration. Thats one reason why I love to pole dance, because I know its controversial and people will make a big deal of it and I can say oh well I’m having fun and your’re missing out. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

This has to be the best thread!

I’ve released a biggie (in hushed voice) after sex while I was sitting on my then boyfriend’s lap. He said he liked the vibration! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_shaking.gif I’m not sure if I should believe him because he never did let me do it again after that https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
I haven’t had it happen while hanging upside down from a pole yet, but I look forward to it and I hope it’ll be loud and proud! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif

Lmao! okay so we are talking farts from both areas?!? okay its normal people. happens sometimes when the legs are too wide and air is being sucked up. I have to admit it is always funny every time it happens. lol but it hasn’t happened to me while on the pole…yet hahahaha
"loud and proud" lmao priceless. along with the animation smiley you used for vibration https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Okie dokie yall I will not be sanding my pole. I think I may try a different grip aid like itac and I also heard the thing about moisturizing soaps before so Ill switch to something different. Then again with all the moisture of you skin gone don’t your skin get dry and irritated? I mean yeah youll stick to the pole but you may be one ashy dancer lol. There has got to be something to sooth our dry skin without causing us to get slippery on the pole.

I understand completely because my chrome xpole is terribly slippery. At first I thought it was my fault that I was slipping maybe my hands were sweaty or clamy or something. I actually just posted a blog about this not to long ago. Then I realized that even with my hands washed and dried and cracked and chapped and ashy from dryness I touch my pole and its slippery. I realize it may be the humidity. Some people have told me to try to get a dehumifier. Others told me windex makes more residue on the pole so if your cleaning it with that maybe you should stop. I use dawn dish soap and wipe mine down and dry it off it helps for a second. Someone told me to try and clean it with nail polish remover, i dunno if it works i haven’t tried it, I am also worried about it damaging my pole, but its worth a try I guess. I heard others say spray hair spray on your hands to help you stick. I thought at one point I had the wrong size pole because mine is 50mm and my thumb doesn’t touch my index finger when wrapped around the pole but I heard most people can grip it that way so its no big deal. Besides its like a lose lose situation because I heard if you switch to 45mm its better for hand grip but painful for thigh grip and stuff. I’ve also considered switching from chrome to titanium but from what I’ve heard it doesn’t make a difference. I’ve heard that it takes awhile for you to get use to the pole so you have to break it in somewhat but like you ive had my pole for awhile been practicing consistantly since March and still having trouble. I’ve tried mighty grip which does nothing for me. Now I have dry hands grip aid and that helps momentarily because it transfers on the pole and off my hands then the humidity moisture on the pole mixes with the grip aid and it wipes right off. Someone else told me not to clean the pole so often because residue can help you stick better sometimes. I heard that you sweat more when working on new moves so its common to wipe the pole a couple of times. I’ve heard a lot of stuff. Its trial and error I guess because I am still trying to find what works for me. My pole grips well in the heat but of course heat causes me to sweat more, especially when its hot and humid in doors and 90 degrees outside. that def effects my pole performances thats for sure because all my vids are chopped and screwed from me editing out the pole wipes. I long for the day I can practice without the idea of wiping my pole after a move. Does sanding work for all poles? Where can I get sand paper from? I am looking for answers too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

You are not the only one. I also have this fear. I also pole on carpet as well so attempting it in heels scares me because my balance is off when I land. I have this fear with the choper and invert i cant getmyself to lean far enough back. I das ytake the intermediate class sometimes as pole dancers we get a move then lose it. Youl get it back because the class gives you motivation.

Well I do think that I am depriving myself. I mean I am so focused on what I can’t eat that I don’t know what I can. I have to admit when groceries are low and so is money I’ll go to burger king or mcdonalds to grab something to eat. I want to eat right so that I can have more energy, but shopping for healthy food is expensive. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif
I’m going to buy that book and maybe buy a dvd for some motivational exercise program. I thought about weight watchers program, but I dunno. I find myself pushing myself to pole instead of poling when I have the energy. I thought of weight loss pills but last time I took slimquick my heart wouldn’t stop racing and I was just standing up! I know I need some kind of help though. Oh and temptation is a beast. My bf is on a so called eating healthy to lose weight thing. But he comes home with oreos, chips, cookies, etc. You know what I have…..fruit snacks! lol I dunno I’m just going to try to stay positive and motivated. I cut out soda but I kept drinking fruit punch which has a crap load of sugar so I felt that was defeating the purpose. So I’m drinking water, water, water, and occasionally crystal light. I just got to find like meals so that I’m not hungry. I know Rena told me to eat more not less. I’m avoiding the fried foods. I had a salad from Zaxby’s and it had grilled chicken and some nasty fat free vinegar strawberry dressing https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I forced it down. I hate salad but felt it was my first step. I try to eat wheat bread instead of white bread. I am also trying not to eat out but it’s hard when funds are low. I feel like I’m focused more on what I eat than how much I exercise. Someone said its 70% eating healthy and 10% exercising and the rest like mental. I think that is true. I have been under a lot of stress lately. I was laid off and its been hard to find a job. I’m in college so I try to focus on that but staying in the house is killing me. Jobs keep putting me through a series of interviews just to not call me back. I just feel I’m in a slump. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif (boredom) Anywayz I wanna look great and feel great about myself. I see people with kids and they look like bombshells! (thats a good thing) Then I see myself and I look like I have had kids and ….. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif no. Urgh! I want to start seeing some results, I’m growing impatient.
Well we are going grocery shopping tonight. I will try to find some fruits and veggies. Someone said avoid canned food? AWE MAN! I loved canned fruit! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif AHHH. I need a diet buddy https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif lol.

This is a good question. I’m interested in hearing what other people are doing, considering my weight keeps fluctuating. Yesterday I realized I lost 4lbs. Thats it! It sucks. I’ve cut out soda completely, have been taking flaxseed oil tablets with every meal because they have fatty acids in them (last time I lost 15 lbs in 2 weeks!), I have been drinking more water, exercising, not eating after 9pm, and poling 4 times a week. It seems like it’s not working. So now I’m eating salads, drinking water, poling, exercising, taking flaxseed oil, not eating fried foods, still avoiding soda, and I’m miserable! I am lacking on energy seriously. I need a list of foods I can eat besides the ones I can’t. I also need a routine exercise thing I can do on a day to day basis so that I have something to follow and motivate me to lose this weight. I’m so freakin tired of this damn belly roll! I want to have the confidence to pole with a sports bra and shorts too. I also want to go shopping and find clothes that fit instead of buying clothes in a bigger size to cover my flaws. I also want to be able to wear jeans instead of resorting to strecthy pants (that create more rolls). I need some advice because my self esteem is falling. I feel like I’m working hard for nothing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I love this post is asks a good question. I’d say outside of poling my theme song would be Alicia Keys- Wait till they see you smile ( I think thats the title :/ )
During poling it depends on how I feel:
    If I feel kinky:
It is deftones-change I don’t know what it is about that song but its me and my bf hump song lol It’s usually rock songs when I feel kinky like My Chemical Romance- Ghost of you
    or Living dead girl
If I’m feeling silly it can be anything from the Matilda soundtrack https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif , or Don’t worry be happy, or Scar Tissue- Red Hot Chilli Peppers ( the feel good songs)
If I’m feeling sexy ( or in the mood to seduce https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif ) It is Janelle Monae- You
There are some others but I can’t think of them now. However I think we all can agree if you like the song you can really lose yourself in the music and give a good pole performance.

I have a chrome 50 mm xpole. It is fairly new considering I am just now getting lots of practice on it in the 5 months orso that I’ve owned it. I wipe it down with windex and was my hands and I manage to grip well. That is until I add momentum, if I grip it too much I get blisters. I have the mighty grip but it doesn’t seem to work. I don’t notice any sweat in my hands that is excessive. I think it may be my nerves. I put a lot of expectation into my pole moves, so my motivation may just be too much. I need to take it easy. I’ll try to improve my grip with a stress ball if that doesn’t work I’ll have to try something else. Liquid chalk sounds good. The funny thing it I almost considered spritz on my hands to get that sticky feeling so I have grip instead of dry hands, I just didn’t want to mess up my pole trying that out.

This is what ruins my chances of posting videos. I literally wipe the pole every 5 seconds. If I manage to do a move, I’ll wipe it again. I thought about posting a video of me just wiping the pole as a joke. It is rather annoying. But I think the floorwork will work for me. I usually don’t dance instead I try to conquer the tricks instead because my grandma says I dance like my grandfather https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif . I dunno maybe I’ll post a silly video of me trying to be sexy, or trying to find sexy, while dealing with the aggravation of not wiping the pole for at least 2 minutes https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

Omg you pole humper lol. I love that we have all done it but don’t hurt yourself lol. What about using the flexible jewlery? I’m just afraid to remove the private jewelry because what if it closes up….sadness https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif lol

    quote="SissyBuns"]
(‘Downstairs’ jewelry + learning the wrist seat = ouch!)

    YES.

It’s probably not a problem too many of you ladies have, but please consider removing private jewelry if you’re learning something new. Bashing that area firmly could cause a piercing to tear slightly because of how delicate the tissue is, which could lead to rejection, which no one wants down there.

I’ve only bashed my lady part jewelry on the pole once and that was because I was humping it, LOL. I probably shouldn’t have been doing that anyway https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif I’m scared to death of hurting it in a bumslide so I always chicken out on that move but it hasn’t caused any other problems as far as pole is concerned. My navel either, although I have heard of people getting theirs caught in the hole in the pole. That actually happened to Karol once. Ouch https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif
