Starsky,
lemme know if you ever come in for a pole jam 🙂
-
I'm going to have to get a lift out to Burlington/Hamilton to check out these pole jams! 🙂 I'm still a beginner, so i'm sure i'm pretty useless, but i'd love to learn from fellow polers 🙂
Starsky, where abouts are you??

It's been a longggg time since anyone updated this thread… so any new music out there??? People can't be using the same old tracks all the time 😉

Your hands smell like you've been holding handfuls of pennies when you're done on the brass 😉 Totally! and skin rippage… oh joy! I've had that issue with every pole i've used 😉
-
Merci 🙂
I'm at Aradia 3-4 times a week here 😉 But i have heard of Flirty too!
Let me know when you're in the area again. They do a lot of pole jams at the studio. 🙂

mmmmm brass 🙂
-
really?? no one!?!?!
I need to get some laides on here!!!
🙂
-
Honeslty, it does feel much better 😉 not nearly as grippy as brass but still an improvement!
Inverts are a little easier I find! But still need a bit of mighty grip every once in a while for sure!
-
Love the blow dryer idea! 🙂
Mighty Grip is a wonderful thing too!
-
I'm in the same boat! Definitely feel your pain!
We use brass at the studio and I have a Titanium / gold one at home, had a chrome one perviously too.
I found that a space heater worked best! If your pole is in a room on it's own, throw a heater in there, close the door and let the room heat for about 10-15 mins before you start. Usually helps warm up the pole 😉
If the pole is in a large open space, pop a heater within 2-3 feet of the pole and it usually heats from the bottom up. Just be sure that the pole isn't going to burn you before using it 😉

The Xpole folks are super sweet 🙂 Lucky for us!!! hehe
YAY! i'm so excited to try the TG finish!
The guys have it SO much easier! by bf was upside down and doing flagpoles before I could even learn my ballerina properly! grrrrr
😉

Ohhh the dreaded C word! heh
Honestly, I know most people cringe to hear it but excercise and diet are absolute key!
Add a little "off the pole" lifting (ie break out those weights! don't be shy!). When you add muscle to your problem areas, it helps smooth out those lovely orange peel spots. Not to mention that building up some muscles off the pole will help you on the pole.
and EAT CLEAN 🙂
I don't usually advocate for anything, but the eat clean diet website and books are pretty helpful. You'll read through them and think "Jeez that makes perfect sense! why didn't I think of that on my own!".
Sugar and Salt play pretty hefty parts in bloating and slowing down your metabolism to a crawl.

Hi Kerry 🙂
Hello from Toronto!
Hope you're having a lovely day or night seeing as you're in England.
I'm a newbie to this lovely community too! But have been taking Pole classes for a few months now.
Just trying to think of the best way to start. You def. picked the right spin as i'm positive that is the first one they taught us in class. Once you have one spin down, I think you'll find it much much easier to follow up with any other beginner spins ( I believe the 2nd spin we learned was the "ballerina") and the fireman will teach you how to grip the pole 😉
Prior to any spinning, it's pretty important to warm up though 😉 Dance around a little bit, loosen up your hips. Any stretches that you would do to warm up for a sport would do the trick (hamstring / glute / tricep / biceps / back stretches).
I've just signed up for 30 days on Studioveena and the videos that are available would be really helpful to a beginer as it gives a bit of direction 😉
Hope this helps a bit!
Cheers!

This is so good to know! My Xpole just arrived (50mm TG XPert too!) and we're going to set it up this evening 🙂
So so SO excited! Now that I have these few tips to follow, i'm hoping it's be a breeze!
My only worry is that i've been spoiled by using a brass pole during my classes since September. I had a chrome pole for home use before this Xpert TG and definitely had some issues with sticking to it. Mighty grip worked great for holds but when you want to spin it's not very practical.
What is the grip like with the Titanium Gold?? I have my fingers and toes crossed that it'll be better than the chrome! 🙂 my body chemistry just didn't mesh with it properly.
Cheers!
🙂
