The girls who are flexible and athletic are probably like that because they’ve been practicing for a lot longer. They were at the same level you are at once. You didn’t say how many classes you have attended at this studio so far, but it can be difficult for an instructor to teach to everyone’s individual skill level, especially if she has only met the students a couple times. If she did instruct with prepping and strengthening moves, that’s good. If you do feel welcome, like you said, then maybe give it some more time until the instructor gets to know you and your particular skill level better. Or try to go at a time where the class isn’t as full so that you could get some more individual attention. Good luck!

I haven’t purchased the lessons because I don’t have a pole at home.
-
@tblue But are the crib mattresses foam or spring mattresses?
-
Might not be ideal for those with limited space…but for those people who have the space?
-
This might be a stupid idea, but what about buying a mattress topper (they come in different thicknesses) and cutting it halfway through so that it can be slipped in around the pole? You can get a 5″ thick, full sized one for $119 on Amazon.

MemberJanuary 8, 2015 at 9:39 am in reply to: New to Pole Dancing, wondering if there are any Christian Pole Dancers?Welcome! Without getting too much into religion, it’s important to realize that sexuality is beautiful and dancing in a sexualized way can be beautiful. Of course, like anything else, it can be made raunchy or tacky. But even that is not inherently “wrong.”
Having said that, what I have seen so far are people who choose to pursue pole dancing as an overtly sexual dance form and others who downplay the sexuality and pursue the gymnastics/acrobatic side of it.
I think either is up to personal preference. It only matters that you have fun and get a good workout out of it. It also doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.

I struggle with motivation too. I think we all do, in some aspect. What helps me when I’m feeling particularly lazy is to commit to just 5 minutes of exercise. Committing to just 5 minutes is a whole lot more doable than committing to a half hour or more. Sometimes that 5 minutes becomes longer, because just getting up for those few minutes jump-starts the motivation. Sometimes that 5 minutes only lasts 5 minutes…but even if that’s the case I still feel like I accomplished something.

@hookedonpole Thanks for the advice. I looked at the shorts on poledanceplayground and while the price is certainly right, I am worried about that front seam…I’m guessing it doesn’t bother you?

Or that have that dreaded front seam…

Same with me, regarding Bad Kitty. I wouldn’t even know which size to order, though, to be honest. I am so picky. I have yet to find a pair of shorts that cover, yet don’t give me a front and back wedgie.
