Yep I tried to find the comment there but maybe it's been removed? I'm sure the girl's name was dirdybirdy and if I remember correctly she was wearing socks in her routine because I remember thinking they looked cool. But I cannot find the comment now. Disgusting anyway.
Haha nice to know even Bobbi has to try hard, there's hope yet coz she is one bangin' lady!

Totally agree. I watch Alethea's videos too but have to say I haven't see many negative comments regarding her dancing. I have however, seen some disgustingly derogatory comments on Leighann Orsi's videos but mostly to the effect of 'dirty sluts can come dance on my pole' etc. In fact, recently I was watching a dirdybirdy tutorial and seen a comment something to the effect of sluts being hunted near their homes so their bodies are easier to hide or something twisted to that effect. I remember reading it and feeling sick in my stomach that somebody could look at a girl having fun like that and think she deserves to be harmed for it. Equally, I know exactly what you mean about the other comments on pole videos, like the critical, nasty comments about the dancer's body (I remember watching one video of a girl in ballet pumps and she received a horrible grilling from many posters, with one even referring to her as ''a thick short girl not much grace and not much toe for real''. Whoever wrote such a nasty comment needs a wake up call or even a bit of happiness in her life because her attitude wreaks of jealousy.
You would think that, amidst the comments from sleazy, lonely men, fellow polers and dancers would make more of an effort to support eachother rather than name calling and critisizing, not only the dance but the dancer and her body aswell. How very sad!!
I agree that sexy dancing is getting an awful amount of criticism, which is kind of funny really because such fitness polers would not be sitting pretty on their pole in the comfort of their living room, had these sexy performers not paved the way for them in the first place, Didn't pantera begin dancing in clubs? And how many fitness studios has she sold out workshops in? The debate is futile. In fact, I feel a bit embarrassed about how some women conduct themselves during discussions of pole and sexuality. It's great that we can take part in an art that can be enjoyed in so many ways, be it sexy, athletic, etc and that it is so open and versatile that we can choose ourselves what way we want to enjoy it. These women need to back off. I don't sexy dance because, well frankly, I don't know how to. But I do not begrudge the women who do. I watch their videos with as much admiration as I watch any athletic performance. There's something so impressive about every individual dance and it makes me sad to think there's some kind of divide out there. Live and let live I say. Maybe focus a little more on your own style and worry less about somebody else's.

Yeah same here chemgoddess. Is there any possibility that somebody here who has had progress with this exercise be able to post a video of them doing these stretches?

One little problem I've had is that I cannot change my password. I had to use the 'forgotten password' button and got my new one emailed to me but now when I try to change it this appears: Error: The requested address '/users/add' was not found on this server.
Also, it won't sign me in automatically. I have to re-enter my password each time. Which sucks, coz it's not even my password so I'm inclined to forget, heh oppps https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Oddly enough I’ve noticed that since I’ve PUT ON weight, my cellulite isn’t so noticeable. However, I’m not sure where this weight has come from. I seem to weigh far more than I ever have in my life and yet somehow I exercise more and my diet is better. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif Maybe the extra weight is my muscles toning (however, I don’t think I’m very toned so I’m not sure) BUT the significant change definitely came with poling. Since I started taking regular classes my thighs and butt are super toned. For the first time ever I don’t cringe wearing shorts.
It’s weird because I feel chunkier now than before. But in some ways, like cellulite disappearing and body firmness, I seem to be fine. So while I’m more paranoid about showing parts of me like my tummy now (whereas it used to be my best feature), the parts I always hated seem to look great! I’m a weirdo https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I remember when I was TERRIFIED to do a falling forward spin, I cannot emphasise enough how much I thought I’d never be able to do it. Now I love it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
I remember after my first class thinking ”what the hell am I doing here? I can’t pole dance!” and now I think about poling every six seconds. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif
I remember the chair spin and carousel seemed so difficult and I thought I would never have the strength to do ’em. Now I like to do them both together! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
I hope all the moves I have trouble with now will some day seem easy too. (because there’s a lot! hahaha!) This time next year I hope to say ”I remember when I couldn’t do the chopper, now I do it effortlessly!” https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I got these which are super stretchy and nice and short for poling.
I also got these which are slightly longer and are more high rise on the hips. http://www.dancedirect.com/uk/Products/Urban-Dancewear/P969/plume-hotpants-microfibre-jazz-urban_p969/ -
Hey Audball,
I get my little dance shorts from dancedirect.com. They are based in the UK and have VERY fast delivery. I’ve bought three pairs of booty shorts and some stirruped leg warmers from them and find them great.
If you’re looking for good pole shoes in Ireland, Trena recommended trudyaffair.com to me and I bought my pleasers from them. The woman who takes the orders in based in Dublin so again, very fast delivery.

Before I poled I did martial arts for a few years so I thought I was already pretty fit, toned etc. However I noticed an odd, deep soreness with my abs when I first started poling too. Probably similar to yours. It’s like all the prepping and training for pole moves crunches all your muscles. As long as it’s not very painful or causing a lot of discomfort I wouldn’t worry. I just tell myself it’s my abs getting nice and strong so I can do pretty moves! : https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

A guy I work with has been doing Bikram yoga for about a month now but already the results are incredible. He seems so trim already. I’m deffo interested in giving it a go, however, I only tried yoga for a couple of weeks a few years ago so basically have no experience even with non-heated yoga. Is bikram only for seasoned yoga go-ers?

You nair girls are very lucky, it doesn’t work on me at all. Even if I leave it on past the recommended time, it just doesn’t work. I think I must be too dark or something, I imagine it works great for women with light, fair hair. I have an epilator that I find great but am seriously curious to have a proper brazillian done. Not brave enough to go that far with Mr. Epil Silk! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Hey veena,
All the suggestions so far have been great, I agree on sudafed and a tiny drop of olive oil in the ear. Things to avoid are using cotton buds in the ear (you’ll only cause them to become blocked even more by pushing the wax further into your ear), using any kind of syringe in the ear (leave that to a doctor if needs be) etc. I’ve had problems with my ears since forever and I very regularly get blocked up so I really sympathise, it’s a horrible feeling. I’ve had 6 operations in my ears since I was a kid because they are unable to clear themselves of the fluid that builds up in there and even now I get lots of infections from the scarring inside. One thing that helps for me when I feel my ears blocking up is to use a few little drops of olive oil at night (to avoid messing up your pillow, make a plug out of cotton wool and seal it on the outer ear with a film of vaseline. Otherwise the oil will drip out and won’t stay in long enough to soften the wax.I often have to go to the hospital to have that suction thing done because syringing doesn’t always work so if the symptoms last much longer do consider having it checked out. The longer it stays blocked up the higher the chance of it becoming infected is. And nobody wants an ear infection!
I hope you feel better soon, start taking the sudafed and hopefully by tomorrow you’ll be feeling much better.

thanks for the correction Journey, I was looking on x-poles website and was trying to figure out what the old style pole was called and all I gathered from the site was that an x-pert is one which spins and stays static. So I wasn’t sure. I might call them for another threaded one because it was so quick and easy. Thank you! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

my pole is the 50mm chrome x-pole that can be used spinny or static. But there are none of these x-joints on it. I simply had to screw the pole together, tighten etc and I had a lovely, sturdy pole. I’ve been thinking of buying a new pole now for my new house rather than moving my previous pole up, BUT.. all this x-joint trouble has put me off buying another one. It sounds like a hell of a lot of hassle. Particularly since I’ll be putting the pole together by myself. Is there anyway to buy the old style x-pert? With none of this x-joint nonsense?!

I learned the plank first too. It seems more logical to learn it and feel safe with it before extending it into a CAR/CKR. For the record, I can do neither CAR/CKR 100% comfortably, I always feel that bit more scared with these moves. But for me, CAR is easier than CKR. I feel so insecure in a CKR. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif
