I bought a 45mm x-pole from http://www.mydancingpole.co.uk because I was told that it would be better for me as I have a smaller grip. I am not too sure wether my hands would have fitted around a 50mm x-pole!! haha but I dont think there is a great deal of difference after all its only 5mm
