hello! there is so much to say about pole to newbies my suggestion would be to research this site! you will find many threads about pole choices, proper form, and i know veena’s lessons are jam packed with important info and could be helpful even if you take classes at a studio.
i do think a good piece of advice would be to start working on your strength with non pole moves like push ups, reverse crunches, etc. improving your core strength will really help you on your pole journey

i’m glad we helped you! no need to fear anyone around here! however, i do think a 40+ forum would do more to separate us than to unite us….i think the label will make some people feel unwelcome in that forum when we all deal with the same pole issues regardless of age https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_albino.gif

to do this reverse dismount, can you do this from basic invert like inverted crucifix? or what position can you do this from? (since i can’t do the shoulder mount yet) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_albino.gif

my first and only pair of dancing shoes are 6" with a 1 or 2" platform. i find them comfortable but i wouldn’t mind going higher, although i don’t like the look of 7+" because the platforms look big and clunky to me lol

my advice is go to a real store where you can try on some sizes and brands, then shop online! i got a perfect fitting pair of ellies off ebay because i tried my size on in a store beforehand. also, on another note, i heard in a magazine or online that kitten heels are worse for your posture and spinal allignment than really high heels are. just a thought. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_albino.gif

the best thing to improve strength for inverts and esp the chopper is ab strength

i don’t know, but this is something i have been wondering as well!

Can you hold yourself just with the belly part…? You need to be able to do both before you roll over. If you can do both, my only advice is to SQUEEZE SQUEEZE SQUEEZE!! pull that leg in VERY tight, so that pole cant escape your thigh and belly!
would that be the same technique you need for doing a no-hands cradle?
