I WISH my man would pole with me!! He played football in college and is in great shape (kind of looks like JungleCat actually) and the couple times I've gotten him on the pole he was phenominal!! I would love to do a doubles routine with him (or just pole jam). Here and there I show him some of the guys on here, and he's impressed….I think he wants to, he's just battling his ego lol. I don't plan on giving up though!

MemberSeptember 25, 2012 at 2:42 pm in reply to: Children and Pole Dance on Anderson CooperI have two girls, 12 and 6, and they have free access to my pole. I wholeheartedly agree w/ Goldie and w/ Lyme, that it's a branding issue (b/c of negative mental associations)….pole dance=strip club (to a lot of ppl), whereas pole fitness=???, they just don't know, and this is where we, as pole dancers, can create a positive mental association with the word. When I tell someone I pole dance I know where their mind usually goes, until I show them some vid's on youtube or SV, then it opens up a whole nother area they never knew existed (holy sh*t, that's gymnastics!!!). Pole will always have a dual connotation, but my goal is to remove the solely negative association that a lot of ppl have. It's becoming more and more accepted, with all the pole studios going up etc. etc….a lot of people frowned on the Beatles initially too, and Christopher Columbus was told he'd fall off the edge of the flat Earth…but look how that turned out 🙂 Rock on fellow polers!!!

I embrace it 🙂 I also have little spider veins showing up on one of my calves like a little road-map lol. It is what it is.

MemberSeptember 17, 2012 at 6:03 pm in reply to: Economic crisis – would you pole dance for a living?I worked in a club as a cocktail waitress a few years back (a very well known high end club), so I saw the good, bad, and the ugly. From my experience my comments are this; the dancers usually make about the equivalent as the waitresses and bartenders, and slightly more than the door girl. Not every man that goes into a club is a 'bad' person, I met a lot of very respectful men there, most enjoy a conversation more than anything. There is a lot of sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll, not every dancer is on something but the majority are. The big paydays are hit and miss, the real money is made by either 1. acts that compromise the self worth of a human being, or 2. by giving out your number and 'hanging out' with customers outside the club. There's lots of jealousy and I have seen more than one physical altercation between employees, always over money. Most amateur nights are rigged, and overall it's a hard job that will eventually burn you out, the window of opportunity is small. The money is good but looks fade, and you will have no health plan or a 401K. If it's truly your bag then rock on, I myself love strip clubs, and there's nothing better than making it rain on a dancer who truly enjoys entertaining, but if you're desperate for money (as I was at the time) you're better off waiting tables at a TGIFriday's….that's a much less benign chapter to leave in your legacy.

Just a side-note for all the ladies with a Clarisonic; I've had the full size one for going on four years now and it's still working great, and my skin has improved a ton. I also have used the Clarisonic (sonicare) toothbrushes for the last fifteen years and they seem to last about seven to eight years before they konk out. So hopefully the Clarisonic has a similar lifespan, because even though they're a little pricey they're well worth it given the effectiveness and how long they last 🙂 Oh, and I use generic pHisoderm cleanser with mine, it's the same consistency as the expensive brands Sephora recommends and I think it works just as well.

Y'all should have a pole jam!!

I believe Kyrelle works at a studio in Detroit, she's advanced so she could point you in the right direction, look up her profile 🙂

Gravity. Your ceiling split looks great though.

I've been using liquid grip and it works great for me. If I need stickiness on top of grip I use a little bit of itac on top of it. The liquid grip seems to keep the itac in proper form (it doesn't turn into an oil slick like itac usually does). Definately recommend it.

You could be depressed, I know that can cause lethargy if there's no other apparent cause…

Remember that 'bedazzler' thing…that might work, then the crystals will be hooked into the fabric. I'm not crafty either but I do remember the commercials for that thing made it look really easy 🙂 https://www.asseenontv.com/bedazzler/detail.php?p=296300

Lyme-I will! It's gonna take a week or two to get here though 🙂

Thanks Chem, I've been wanting Latisse for a while. I just ordered Careprost w/out a prescription (there are legit sites to do this, for Latisse as well, they 'review' your file etc. etc.) Anyway, kudos and thank you, I only paid $28!!!!!

I'm extremely stiff, and I've been doing Veena's routine (not regularly) but I've gotten down to about 3 inches from the floor so far. I try to do it twice a week…I should be there soon 🙂

Creepy. I'm glad I don't have Facebook.

Lance Armstrong isn't being accused of taking steroids, he's accused of taking an EPO. I'm not saying it was right or wrong, but for the record, it's not a steroid, it's a protein that controls blood cell production and subsequently oxygen delivery (for endurance), not a hydrocarbon. They give it to cancer patients. It did enhance his performance, but it is not a steroid. Chem could probably elaborate on this much better than myself…@Corby–I too was an athlete and you bring up an excellent point, there were supplements from GNC that would make us fail a drug test, but were definately not illegal by any means. Seems to me aptitude and tenacity will get you further in pole than 'doping' anyway. Either way, interesting subject.

I wish there was a drug to help me get crazy flexy I def need it!

So happy for you!!!!!

Pegasus is right, you've got to let them heal. I'll post a pic of mine to show you what happens when you don't (I broke 5 at once so it's a little more extreme, but still…) I'd do absolutely nothing for at least a month

I've had good luck with chemical peels fading the scars from acne….I have no idea if it would work on your legs though :/

I wouldn't go and take it, if she calls the police you would be stealing (even though it is yours), and trespassing. Not sure but I think you'd have to sue her in small claims (hopefully you still have the receipt), then the burden of proof would be on her to prove it was a gift. If you can prove you bought it and it wasn't a gift you should be good, but I do believe it will have to be solved via the court system. Try sending her a certified letter stating your side first, maybe she'll cave if she knows you're going to take it to court, and this way if it's damaged she'll be liable for the cost of the pole. The thing about the floor is ludicrous, I wouldn't even worry about that. Good luck.

Lunges are always good, you could do pole lunges…

I've enjoyed mine every day of the 10 yrs. I've had them. Congratulations ladies! @JelliCrew-keep us posted, I'm curious about the 'gummi bear' ones, they're supposed to feel really natural.
