I think the R Pole is quite expensive, but it looks more portable than the xstage which I know is really heavy. I’ve used one on uneven ground before at a garden party and it was abit wobbly but we didn’t have the legs extended or any weights on it and it didn’t fall over. One lad did a backflip off it too so it is reasonably ok. You can see it on Youtube, but don’t know if the filming is good enough to tell how wobbly it is! lol. But here you go anyway:

I’m not wearing the blue shorts, grey shorts with my black top rolled up (just in case you’re wondered!) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Try not to watch the performances too much cos I was rubbish! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Think I’ve decided that split grip is easier! Got the ayesha a few more times last night as well as one attempt at a jacknife. I just can’t wrap my head around this forearm elbow grip malarky https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif I know the theory and what I should be doing, but I can’t seem to persuade my body to get on with it and do it. Ah well tho – am sure I’ll get there eventually. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I got the gloves yesterday. They are like fingerless gloves with PVC type material on the palms. They are definitely grippy, but you need to get them so they are tight otherwise when you invert, your hand can move inside the glove whilst the glove stays still on the pole! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
They seemed to do the trick though and for about a tenner, I don’t think that’s too much money to give them a try. I’m definitely going to use them to get the hang of new inverts so that I am confident in my grip whilst trying to get the technique right.

The one in leeds is York Pole Academy and they do a lesson on a Tuesday 7pm – 9pm – apparently it is just five minutes walk from the train station (if that). They contacted me and said they teach 50% dance moves and 50% tricks so that you can learn routines and stuff. I think that’s a really good deal for a tenner. Am not sure about the dancing because I don’t know if rhythm is my strong point https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif and I get abit self-conscious with stuff like that, but it’s about time I learnt how to link everything I’ve learnt so far.
She said they have two poles – a beginner one and a more advanced one but she didn’t tell me how many people usually turn up so going to have to find out. If you want any more information so you can go, let me know https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Should have mine by the end of next week so will report back – they even come in pretty colours! And they have anklets, but I can’t work out if they’re sticky as well https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

You’re good at this! lol
They’re too expensive for me – I have found one in Leeds that is a tenner for a two hour lesson – sounds good to me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Deb
Just checked out the pole place – have emailed them, but don’t think it’s my kind of pole dancing – it’s in a dodgy lap dancing club in the centre of Bradford. Mind you, I might be proved wrong so thanks again for letting me know about them https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I’m the other side of Bradford – near Haworth (if you ever did the Bronte thing https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif ) so a fair way away. Went to Uni in Hull years ago and think I’ve only been back once since then to go to the Deep https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Been to pretty much all of them that I know of. There are two problems with most of them, either they try and pack too many people in and you don’t get any pole time or they don’t have advanced pole stuff themselves so can’t teach me the stuff I want to learn now. Am sure something will come up tho https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Could drive the 1.5 hours to Hull every week https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I need to go back to lessons now. Have got to a place where I can’t learn anymore on my own because I don’t get the grip – trying to do forearm and elbow grip – so I need someone to explain it all to me properly. Just don’t know where to go tbh. There are only a few teachers around where I live and some of them are rubbish!
