it's a tough one! For me, I start in the flag facing down and as I raise my straight leg I lower my head (which helps you "tip over") while at the lame time looking up to watch my leg hook into the brass monkey. Keep at it!

Have fun, let me know how it goes!! Also, let me know if you have any questions about the move or if you're having trouble with part of it.

I'm not on the pole as often as I'd like but mainly because I feel like I'm in a constant state of muscle recovery these days!

I started a new job at a gymnastics club and my boss has been organizing workouts at 7:30am every day. He's been following a lot of p90x and I've been fucking dead all week! On monday we did shoulders and back and used the high bar as a pull-up bar. He gave me a large box to stand on and was all, "You may need to stand on something as pull-ups are really hard. Don't feel bad if you can't do one."

I just gave him a look and banged out 15 pull-ups with my arms stretched as wide as possible.

After that he became even more intrigued by pole fitness (I can't wait to teach my coworkers, I can tell they're going to be amazing!). The shitty thing is, I was planning on doing a freestyle that day and two days later, my arms still feel dead.

Another funny thing, he was showing me different styles of pushups. One was called The Divebomber and it looked really familiar. "Ohhh!! We call those Stripper Pushups."

Anyway, including class I usually pole three times a week but thanks to the cross training I've been doing I'm too exhausted to even look at the pole. Can't wait until all this strength training pays off to make me a better pole dancer.

I wrote a blog post all about my cross training if anyone is interested.

I refuse to act ashamed about something I love. I think I am lucky that I live in a city where pole is so popular though, and pretty much everyone I know knows someone else who does it.

I work at a gymnastics club though, so everyone there loves it too.

I'm sorry to everyone who has had negative experiences, I can't really relate but I feel bad that you've had to deal with close minded people. Keep your head up!! Things will get easier as it becomes more mainstream.

I hope so! It’s just weird that there are no interviews or articles or anything else. Hope the guy has funding and connections to get it released!

Can’t wait to see it! The fact that there’s no official website, Facebook page, IMDB page or any other information makes me nervous about when it will be released though

For me I've found it to be helpful to really put all your weight on the desired muscle. You may have to play around to find the right balance points, but I found it made a difference if I roll my leg with only one hand on the ground (if that makes sense?). Either way, you should feel a lot of pressure while rolling.

I still have a long, loooong way to go but stretching and foam rolling every day has made a big difference.

    Spin or Static: both

Your best-sexiest feature: eyes and smile
How do I got into the pole dancing: flipped through my community's recreational guide and saw a pole dancing class being offered. Did it for a month before stopping when I got pregnant. Got back into it in February 2012 when I wanted to exercise as a way to deal with anxiety
How you found out about studioveena.com: good 'ol google
if you were a pair of underwear would you be a thong, boy shorts, bikini cut or granny panties: I used to be a latex thong, but I seem to be creeping towards granny panties territory the older I get. I take it that's what the question meant as it was spelled "were" and not "wear". I'm most comfy in a pair of regular bikini cut panties.

drop your hips! It feels a little scary when you first try, but loosen your thigh hold a teensy bit and thrust your hips forward and you will drop down

just wanted to reiterate what everyone has said, and stretch every day! At first you may not want to do certain stretches on a daily basis but Veena gives a great explanation in her videos 🙂

For me, I've found having my partner gently push me deeper into stretches has helped a lot. Make sure to have them push as you exhale, and ease up a bit as you inhale.

With forearm grip your hand is still on the pole with your forearm resting on the pole to help stabilize you.
Elbow grip is where you grip the pole in your elbow pit, so essentially your bicep is doing most of the work. It hurts like hell the first time you try it, but like everything else it gets easier and less painful with practice

Thanks guys!! I have a doctor’s appointment next week. I’m pretty sure it’s a hernia. It only hurts if I touch it or lift anything.
Unfortunately I’m supposed to be entering my first competition in six weeks so….poop.
And yeah, we polers are a dramatic bunch!! Haha

I love the elbow grip, I feel much more secure with it than my hands. I wish I was better at split grip moves

I agree with luvlee on using dishsoap on the pole AND your hands! I haven't tried Dawn, I think what's important is that you use a no nonsense, regular concentrated dish detergent. So, nothing with moisturizers built in (i.e. Palmolive). You just want something that removes dirt and grease,

But yes, new chrome poles are soooo slippy and frustrating!! I found lightly coating the pole with iTac helped with hand grip moves (don't try a superman though. Just don't.)

This is AMAZING!!! Thank you so, so much for sharing.

My sewing machine is already set up to go since I had to make curtains recently.

What material would you recommend? Any tips? I've heard sewing with stretchy material can be tricky.

I'm right there with you! Someone suggested to me to skip using grip aids during practice and only clean your pole no more than once every five minutes. That way you can get used to dancing on a slightly slippery pole.

Also, make sure to only inlcude moves you are 100% comfortable in executing.

    Good luck!!

For actual pole time I usually try to fit it in during my daughter's nap times. She just turned two so she generally naps for an hour and a half to two hours. If she gets to bed on time I will sometimes get a night time pole session, but if she puts up a fight I'm usually too exhausted!

Now, I started pole fitness when my daughter was 14 months but I swear I had a lot of strength just from carrying her around all the time. I would constantly be lifting her into the air, carrying her in my arms, spinning her around. I would even do lunges while raising her above my head.

She was like a home made medicine ball made of love and magic that became heavier as I grew stronger.

These days, she's close to 30lbs. Our grocery store is just under a 10 minute walk so these days I carry her (stroller won't work in snow and she hates being in it now) to the store and carry her back on my shoulders along with the groceries.

It's fucking exhausting! In a good way.
