Hey sissybuns! I used to be a Podiatric assistant. I also developed flat feet and suffered with those problems! The podiatrist I worked for doesn’t recommend that surgery, he made me custom orthotics and I’ve been good ever since…I can’t wear heels for really long periods of time but I don’t have the pain anymore..have been in orthotics for 10 years now, I have them checked periodically and adjusted as needed. Good luck whatever you decide to do…I totally can relate to what you’ve been going through!! *HUGZ*

Hey sweetie! Glad your ok! I had a triple lumpectomy on the right breast in 1994..everything turned out fine, and just had a lumpectomy on the left breast July 21st (again everything was fine)…so I understand what you’ve been going through! Now hit the pole and CELEBRATE!!! *HUGZ*

I can’t take any narcotics at all….highly allergic…had a severe reaction through IV meds years ago, they gave me benadryl to counter act it but found I was allergic to that as well!! NO FUN!! LOL As with any pain med you have to give it time to build if you weren’t on top of the pain immediately…the meds have to catch up with the pain otherwise…including tylenol/ibu. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

The number 1 cause of cramping/charley horses in the lower extremities is DEHYDRATION, 2. is calcium deficiency, and 3 is Potassium….most people are not hydrated properly…you need to drink 6-6 glasses of water a day depending on your level of activity. I drink 2 gals. a day when I’m working out….because your body is mostly water! I used to work for a Doc in sports medicine…the people he treated were always dehydrated.LOL
Myself I suffered awful cramping/charley horses in my calves and my feet until I started drinking a lot of water *per his insistence), I already got enough calcium and I eat bananas everyday…I just needed to drink more water! LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Veena is absolutely right! I do take a few supplements but ONLY because I’m body building and over stressing my body. If you eat healthy you shouldn’t need anything else. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

When I had oral surgery my Doc told me to take Ibuprofen and extra strength Tylenol (3 Ibu and 2 Tylenol every 4-6 hours), he does not prescribe narcotic pain meds because they only treat the symptom not the cause. What this combo does is takes care of the inflammation from the procedure and the pain with out the side effects…it’s all I use whenever I have any surgery…even when I had my hysterectomy…it works like a charm and I was able to do normal activity without pain.

To keep your body strong and healthy you need complex carbs (anything that’s not made with white flour) and green vegies (simple carbs) and healthy fats along with the protein. Rule of thumb for amounts (baseline) is 40% protein, 40% Carbs, and 20^ or less healthy fats. The protein doesn’t do you any good if you are not eating the others because it takes carbs and fat to synthesize the protein. Stretching and exercise along with a healthy diet will keep your body strong. Hope this helps! *HUGZ*

i´d like to apologize for lying about my age… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
when i first started lurking on this site it seemed as if all the girls were in their early 20´s, and when i got up the nerve to introduce myself and participate in the forum i just wanted to fit in. i certainly don´t look or feel my age(well, yeah i have more aches and pains and am a bit stiffer, but ). i´m very energetic and have great skin so if i´ve slept well most people think i´m 29/30. i date younger guys and mostly hang out with younger people because the ones my age are generaly realy old and boring (couch potatoes).
anyway more and more older women have become members and everyone is so supportive and special and talented so now i just feel stupid about the whole thing. for months ive been wanting to confess…so on my profile where it says 28 just add on another 10 yrs.
and thanks lilbit because you are an inspiration to not only us poledancers but also to women in general!!!!
truly sorry, hope you all will forgive my foolishness.
big hugs https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif frida https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gifHey hun…no worries k?! Just hold your head up and be proud to be an "older" woman….We are all examples…so let peeps know how much YOU ROCK!!! LOL Oh and yes…you are forgiven! *HUGZ* https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

MemberOctober 13, 2009 at 8:28 pm in reply to: Thought this might be helpful to some of youAngel, I agree to a point with you for a lot of people…but I used to work for/with an orthopedic Physician on the ortho/nuero surgical unit (I’m a nurse)and he totally agrees with what was being said (he stated that she was probably describing the feeling, not necessarily that it actually touches)…it has to do with ROM (range of motion) and not everyone is able to do it due to their limited range. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

MemberOctober 13, 2009 at 4:13 am in reply to: I never thought I could ask anyone about this stuff!I just had to share this…Where ever I go I take my portable pole, now having said that LOL…I took a wkend out of town by myself about 4 months ago…I was staying at a hotel. When I travel I miss out on my gym workouts so the pole is AWESOME to have..anywho I had my pole up and was working out on it when there was a knock on my door…I answered it, it was housekeeping…she looked at me and asked "Do you want..OMG!", I looked at her face and asked her what was wrong (ha ha I knew she finally noticed my pole!). She said "umm, is that what I think it is?" I said that depends what you think, I went on to explain that I use the pole for my training to become a Bodybuilding Figure Competitor..she just looked at me and said.."Yeah..sure, whatever you say". I cracked up at that point, I asked her if I looked like I was stripping..she said no, I told her I would show her some of what I did with the pole…she was so amazed..she apologized for what she was thinking when she first saw it LOL…I told her no prob. When I checked out that Sunday all the staff was staring at me…I asked them if they’d like to come to a pole jam in Fargo haha…they all turned red and walked away, except for the chick that had to check me out! TOO FUNNY!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Oh yeah my adult kids didn’t have a prob with my pole..it was my HUSBAND that didn’t like it! LOL

Hey sweetie…believe me I can relate to you, I was once in your situation about how I felt about myself. I went into counseling because I couldn’t do it alone…soooo glad I did! I learned how to accept and like myself, then was able to love myself and realized that yes it’s nice to get "warm fuzzies" from others but it needs to come from within to have an impact. I began to pursue one interest at a time until I found one that "TRULY" was an interest not just a thought or desire…once I did I began to excel and not feel so worthless any more…I hated myself and how I felt for a very long time. What I learned was that I had to stop dwelling on my "bad" feelings, get off my butt and CHANGE what I didn’t like..with my therapists help I did!!
I don’t have but TWO friends, and they are busy with their jobs, families and grandchildren….my children are grown and gone and my husband is never around…HOWEVER, I have the gym and people I work out with now and my pole..it has given my life new meaning and it doesn’t matter if I have someone to hang with or not (I felt lonely all the time) because I always have people at the gym to talk to and have met a lot of bodybuilder/competitors that have been helping me reach my dreams of competing, and I actually enjoy my own company these days LOL…anyway I hope you get what I’m trying to say, I do get long winded sometimes!! LOL I just care about what your going through and know how it feels…I think getting a pole is a wonderful idea for you…you may surprise yourself….not only that but a sexy sensual woman isn’t a size 0,2, or 4…or someone that looks like a model when she’s wearing clothing, she is a woman that embraces her curves and femininity and is so beautiful on the inside that she glows on the outside! The most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in public was about a size 24…and she is INCREDIBLE! Self love, acceptance and attitude are what it’s all about not how we look…I had to love myself before I could change anything about myself.
