For the future people who run into the same thing….. I stood the pole up and pulled the parts together when I finally thought of it.. 😀 and they slid in relatively easy….. Careful though that you don’t drop it….since it goes against the instructions….. I tightened it all while holding it up though, it just felt easier to be honest…

yup; which is how I got the other side in….LOL. what I didn’t do is take the OTHER XJoint, and thats mainly because I remember from the other one that the bigger/longer XJoint is for the main middle part….. plus it was already attached to the other extension anyways…..lol

I haven’t ever dislocated my shoulder before, but I do have what I call to be nerve damage from having something heavy on my shoulder before; if I have something heavy on that same shoulder now, 20+ yrs later, my arm starts to tingle and the veins start popping out.
Point being that I had the injury before I started poling. I had to make some accommodations…like a handstand…I only attempted several times because my shoulder felt like it’d give out; but I managed to so the handstand with one hand on the pole (the “bad one”). I used to do a butterfly, and ayesha, but only on my preferred side… I am very one-sided on pole… mainly because i’m stronger on one side, but also because I’m not confident in my left shoulder.
I’m sure that I could build it up again, but I haven’t had the best of luck with all my injuries…. I’ve got a weird shoulder on my left, a sometimes worse wrist on my right hand (primary), and I’ve got a loose knee that REALLY acts up if I grip too hard on the pole with my legs….
I blame my wrist injury on the pole TBH, but it could have been a carpal tunnel type thing from school too….
I periodically get back into poling when I can….so don’t give up…..it may take awhile and take some adjustments, but doing different moves or floor work for the time being is also an option. You don’t want to overdo it and not be able to go back at all

I know the post is old, but is your pole still available?

How much are you asking, and where are you shipping from?

MemberApril 26, 2021 at 2:26 am in reply to: Getting back to Pole Dance after a (very) long breakVERY possible…. I haven’t been on my pole in a few years but I’m starting up again now too; things are coming back — muscle memory — just no muscle to support it 😉 🙂
I’m starting out by doing it every-other day for a little bit…I can’t devote much more time right now, and it winds me after a few minutes. Only been at it for a week and my muscles don’t hurt as much
-
Can you call up the company to ask them how to dismantle it? Maybe there is something that you are missing to help loosen it….
-
Congratulations! No advice for you, but just wanted to let you know that I’m in the same boat as you. How many weeks postpartum are you? I’ve got no more core either…but I’m not a beginner, just have no strength at all anymore. 🙁
I plan on getting back into poleing because it was a great workout for me before but it’s hard finding time to try and regain my muscle. -
I think I’m going to put the pole back up… 😀 I had to take it down because the floor guys were coming, and my mom didn’t want to explain to them why there was a pole in the living room 😀 😀
I really miss it now that I don’t have it available at any given time… I would really like to continue to workout a little bit, I have already gotten so lazy as it is….. -
Hi Veena! Thanks 🙂 Its all new to me and I’m in the lucky %-tile who doesn’t quite feel it right now… (except on occasion…lol) Makes it very easy to forget about it, until I get hungry–very hungry…. 🙂 Yes, I read about the looser joints, which is why I’ve gotten cautious about a lot of things…..so far, my knee isn’t giving me much problems.
I’m actually not that thrilled with doctors to begin with in general. I come from a family who doesn’t jump to a doc at the first sniffle or scrap — theres gotta be a good valid reason for us to go…. I’m not that familiar with the role of midwife (at least not in modern times)… but I figure that I’ve got a lot of unknowns against me, and a doc in a hospital is the best bet….. My plan when I found out I was preggo was to see if I liked the doc(s) and if I didn’t, I’d just find someone else….sounded good at the time…
-
Hi Runemist, Thanks for your response…. you gotta love conflicting reports from the same doc — supposedly physical therapy would “cure” my knee, but its been 2 years…I have my own theories on what it is, since it never fully heals… ((doc visit 2 –“do your PT, or you need surgery” doc visit 3 — “good thing you’ve been doing your PT, theres no surgery for you”.
I ordered tommie coppers for both knees, and I’ve felt a lot better (for the record, I don’t believe it has healing properties, I believe the compression has done a lot more)….
The times that I have poled recently I have just been altering the moves to not use my right knee… its harder than it sounds, but I don’t pole for very long at a time anyways — my stamina barely makes the 6-7 minutes…lol I’m out of shape! :-/ But I practice a lot of climbing and shoot for my iron X…. and do some other moves that I never got…I agree with you, that women expect to become sedentary… I believe in keeping up with the routine as long as you are able; within reason of course…. Back in the day they didn’t have ultrasounds & all kinds of tests to do, so they also didn’t travel far either!!!… Now the internet says the best time to travel is the 2nd trimester…..
I will most likely be asking my doc when I see her. i’m sure I’ll get weird looks — got it from my knee doc, lol — but its still 2-3 weeks away…and I’ll be around 12 weeks at that point…First visit, and they didn’t give me much to go on –> go to the ER if you have any issues… very doctorly….. 🙂 But its only a few more weeks left….

Hi there, long term SV stalker 🙂 I don’t post that frequently… but I was looking on here a few weeks ago for the same question….
I’m 2.5 months currently, and have always been on and off the pole since my knee injury 2 years ago — the more frequently I poled before, the more my knee hurt.
I’d like to not loose all of my strength and hard work, but am concerned because I don’t see a doc for a few more weeks… 🙁

Yea, I still haven't been able to find a name for it, but I know its real…I'll find the pic of the poster I think I saw it on… it just doesn't have any names on it…
@chemgoddess1: yea, I like doing weird gemini hangs — I do my regular gemini with only my knee–no shoulder contact…. this one It felt a little unsecure at first when I first got into it, until I realized exactly what i had done…. then i could almost hang there all night… 🙂

I'm about 5'6" with freakishly long piano fingers :-p 🙂 and while I can do the 50, i love the 45 more for my inverts… I feel more secure with them… :-p

LOL to the DOS attack…… I'm sorry it happened, but I still find it funny :-p 🙂 What will hackers think up next?…. At least it wasn't on your side though….. (with 6(!!!!) servers I sure hope not….. ) lol
Kudos on being so informative though…you don't get that in a lot of places…..

@ senrysa: I love his style too. its more of the strength, but he's so fluid in all his movements, they're all calculated… I'm starting to steal tricks from him — if I could ever do them….lol
on a side note, i'm obsessed with his move at 2:40, does anyone know what it is called??? I can do it, for a bit, but last time I slipped and (of course) managed to twist my ankle on the pole…..don't ask, I'm accident prone….lol

I started out on the 50mm and thought the 45's were horrible…. lol But until I started doing, or trying to do the extended butterfly… I fell in love with the 45. I have really really long fingers (think piano fingers) so the 50 was really comfortable for me. Except with the ext. butterfly… i felt like my grip was gonna give and I was just gonna fall… I overgrip on the 45 because my fingers are so long, and it took me a long time to re-adjust my grip, but I can now switch back and forth from 45 to 50 for the different moves without it hurting….
When I bought my pole though, i went with the 45 because I wanted to feel better inverting and doing my butterfly at home alone … lol There were times when I regretted it, but those have passed now… 🙂

MemberAugust 30, 2012 at 9:05 am in reply to: So at what point do you actually call yourself a “pole dancer?”for me…. it was last week….I started pole dancing back in the beginning of the year, but it wasn't until last week when I was talking to a new stranger from work, who was reallly easy to talk to…. He was asking me what I liked to do, and I was like… I work, and I have school…. and the next thing he asks, "don't you do anything else?" … On the tip of my tongue was "yea, i pole dance"… I almost didn't manage to stop myself from saying it.
It was then that I realized that I am a pole dancer….though I prefer pole trickster…. because I don't dance…. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

I just did my first lyra class last tuesday…. it was fun actually, but I'm not the graceful type so i'm sure it looked horrible…. I think my strength helps out with it, but it does hurt a bit, then again, I've got pole kisses so thats probably why. 🙂

I started poling first, and then started silks maybe about 6 weeks or so ago… Now I'm actually doing both…I definately had that death grip thing going on, but that could have been the change from 50 to 45 too… I had to crack all my finger joints so many times a day for about 3 weeks… then it just eased up by now…
I think silks definately takes a lot more strength…I see girls who love it, but can't lift themselves up (so they can't do air inverts) and they're starting to get frustrated now… They want to do the drops, but can't ever get that high to do them safely…. and then they see me….lol
From what I can tell though, probably with the exception of myself, the girls who poled before trying silks, go back to the pole…and the girls who never poled, will barely try it…lol I think it has to do with their pain tolerance… the foot wraps hurt the pole girls and trying to climb hurts the silks girls..
I love doing the silks though because I think I get more of an intense workout than on pole (plus fewer brusises!)
If you're comfortable doing air inverts on the pole, then you'll probably have an easier time doing the silks, though the foot wraps will hurt…. I have this crazy idea to do them on the opposite side now just to give my foot a break, lol
When you start it though, you just have to keep in mind that silks move and it is NOT a pole…lol Once I got that through my head I had an easier time and I think its helped me control myself a little better on the pole…lol

Jag, would you mind my asking if the same thing would apply for a root canal? Would inverting mess up all the hard work?… I have yet to schedule my appointment, but I really should…
Thank you!!!

@ LillyBilly Perhaps the dosage was too high for you on Accutane? I was on it in 2007 and while I would get cut very easily, (ie boxes scraping me would cut me) and bruise really quickly, I could never pull off my skin…. I was on it for about 7 months…
I theorize that it took my body a year to be fully rid of the accutane. (I read somewhere that you shouldn't donate blood for a year afterwards)…
For me, being active whatsoever while on it was a big no-no…It was hard enough in the end to go to work and school… lol
I will say that 5 years later now, I bruise much more easily (I think thats a side effect for me….) but they heal pretty quickly, at least I think so… I've got a nice circular bruise on my legs from holding the superman for 3 seconds… 🙂
