Thank you so much lovely! I will add them to my playlist!

Getting the full controlled lift takes a while. At first I would swing my leg up to get momentum, not kick. My studio thought it was fine to swing when you are first learning until you build up the strength as the strength will come from inverting and practice. If I had to wait til I could lift to invert I think I would’ve given up from frustration haha!!

God tell me about it. I’ve been poling for 6 months and have gone through like 10 bottles of dry hands which is over $200! I try to buy in bulk like 6 bottles at a time but I guess it’s just a price you have to pay… Still cheaper than smoking I guess!

To add to this… While my boyfriend isn’t really interested my dad always has a go! He says he swings on it every morning and it helps to loosen up his back. I’ve showed him how to do a stag spin, climb, pole ups and the air walk. He loves it haha and is really impressed with my strength.

I used to practice things on static when I first learnt them or was learning a harder move but these days I just start learning it straight away on spin. My studio only has spin poles and they spin insanely fast compared to my xpole at home so being able to do moves on them requires lots of comfort factor with spin mode!
I do want to go to static to learn the reverse grab as I can do it on spin but I think it may build up my strength and technique to do it on static?

If I had money to spare and space I would probably have three or four poles… My current 40mm titanium gold, a 45mm brass because I’ve never used a 45mm and that’s what they use in competitions, a 38mm pole to practice my elbow ayesha on because it’s the hardest pole to do it on and also some sort of chrome pole because I’ve never used a chrome!

When I first started poling my boyfriend was having a go and went upside down so easily I was so jealous! Recently I tried to teach him a flag but he couldn’t do it at all lol. Now that I’ve been poling for 6 months he can’t keep up lol

Everytime I look in the mirror while doing my hair or something I’m like damn look at those huge arms lol, sometimes I feel self conscious because of how muscly they are compared to how they used to be little sticks.

If my legs are being uncooperative ill spray them with hairspray. It’s sticky so it helps me stick but doesn’t grab in a painful way like dry hands does when you rub it on your legs. It does leave residue on your pole which doesn’t bother me because I like the extra grip but it may bother you. Just thought I’d suggest it 🙂

I’ve had long acrylic nails since I started poling. They don’t seem to get into the way unless I somehow jam my hand between the pole and my leg which I have done lol. I know I would have better grip if I got rid of them probably but I love them too much

I don’t want to learn the elbow grip ayesha but I have to! I can do the split grip fine but the elbow one is so scary, I hate it! I have to learn it for a routine at pole class. Ah well I guess we all need to conquer our fears in some way or another.
-
Working on the split grip handspring mount… I got the twisted grip in like a week no problems but this one is being a pain!! I’m going on holidays for a lot of January so hopefully I can get it

Hi Rylonn, I’m no expert but have just started working on the elbow spin. I haven’t tried this variation yet but when i was working on the spin, I would go into it like a normal backwards spin, with my left hand holding the bottom of the pole and my right arm bent, like amy has in her video. I then would let go of the bottom arm once I had moved my body into position.
Sorry, I know that is isn’t really 100% what you were looking for but maybe this will help you to get your leg into position? I’ll try the move tonight and see if I can shed any light.

Thanks Veena! I have tried them and even progressed to doing the exercises with ankle weights. I was hoping to incorporate a few more different types of moves with the program.
Thanks so much Ajrt! I will definitely incorporate those!! I have been doing one legged squats, I won’t call them pistols yet as I can’t get all the way down without assistance and proper form. I’m working up to it though, only going about halfway down at the moment

I hope so!! Ill be going on Saturday mornings to open technique and Tuesday nights to pre advanced!
-
Oh no! I’m so so sorry to hear that! I hope that they start healing for you and getting stronger!
I want to thank you so much CloSmo, I loved every minute of the class today and definitely will be going back for the start of next term!

Have you tried doing push ups? My studio makes us do a whole lot and it has helped me a lot. When I started I couldn’t do a thing and now I can do about 3 or 4 chin ups on the pole. Of course everyone is different but it’s just a thought 🙂
I’m super excited to meet her she sounds lovely
-
Aww no I’m so sorry to hear that!! I hope you feel better soon!
I’m not good at all haha I’ve only been poling since August this year. I hope I like it! The studio seems so welcoming and I’m eager to start doing competitions and they seem like they encourage that
-
No problems at all!!
I just watched an intermediate routine and think I may be intermediate or a level up? Not sure.
Either way I’m actually doing the open class tomorrow night!! Super excited!!
-
Oh and by the way do you know what order the levels go in? At my studio we don’t have elementary or prep 1.
-
Thanks so much CloSmo! I’m going to come on Tuesday next week for the open class!! So excited! The lady who answered my questions on the Facebook page was so lovely… My studio often never gets back to my questions so I’m already impressed
-
Oh wow thanks so much! I didn’t know there was a studio in revesby!! I’ve been looking up studios close by and it didn’t come up.. Revesby is very close for me! I will look into it!

Thanks so much Bonnie for your response!!
I’ve been looking at taking a workshop at Bobbi’s to see what it’s like, it’s a difficult time of year at the moment though because my studio and a few others have finished classes for the year. I have a friend who does the SLAP classes and she loves them… Not sure if its really my style as I’m not that confident with myself and my body! But I definitely want to go to Bobbi’s soon!
