well i would definitly send you one if you would like! you can send me ur adress/which one u want at mailto:krousseau16@mail.bristol.mass.edu -
yes, it does strengthin ur upper body. when you do inverts you use those muscles to pull yourself up, and then use your core muscles to lift your lower body. so it is essential to get those muscles strong for a strong invert! and yes it also does help with grip.
-
yeahhh jungle!!! can wait to see them! i unfortunately cant make videos b/c all i have room to do on my pole right now is really invert…..which im working on right now! hopefully somedayyyyy
i’ll be looking for a vid from you tonight and tomorro!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif -
i’m also new to pole dancing and i defintiely feel you on the hurtin thighs! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif
i was able to do it one practice, although only for a few seconds making a very ugly face and breathing deeply!
i did it like 6-10 times that practice to try to get use to it. i never want to do it b/c it hurts so much but i have to force myself to b/c its the only way it will hurt less. the next practice after that i was able to sit longer and actually SMILE!! lol. not smile becacuse it didnt hurt, but it wasnt as painfull so i could try not to wince and scrunch my face in pain. you just have to do it ALOT and it will slowly, but surely, hurt less and less. just stick with it! just pretend that it doesnt hurt https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif lol -
yeahhhhh!!! WOOOHOOO!! =D
i’m goin to start stretching for at least a half hour every day, i’ve decided lol. no excuses! i should always have that much free time, and if i dont then i’ll make it. as u know, im sooo far away from a split. i wanna see next time im ova!!! =) -
i took a pole class where she had 3 painted poles and 1 stainless steel. we all loved the steel for spinngin b/c we went fast. but hated it for holding cuz it was slippery.
in order from least sticky to stickiesy-
stainless steel, painted, chrome, titanium gold, brass (jacq u were right on)
for me i found the stainless to be too hard ot do holds on, and the painted were better.
then i got my chrome x-pole. its more grippy than either, and i relaly like it. its not to grippy where you cant spin well, but grippy enuf to hold.
in my opinion, if ur looking for a pole to do both inverts and spins, chrome is the best. though u can learn to spin on brass and invert on stainless, it takes more time to become accustomed to it -
yay jenn! congrats on the new move, we’d love to see it!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

YAY!!! yeah i was the mall with my boyfriend and i was lookin at webcams saying i wanted one but thhat i need to save my money right now. sooo maybe he’ll get me one for my bday in less than 2 weeks!?!?
if not ill just have to buy one with my bday $ =) -
yeahhh i’m not sure either….its hard to come up with one, but dont rush it. it took me a while to think of one that fit me and that i liked. i randomly remembered when i was a kid me and my sister and cousin would change our names when we went camping. one was lavender, another coral, and another amethyst.
my stage name is amethyst. i think its a pretty name, different…and kind of exotic. and i’ve been told i look a lil exotic so it fits. and its not an everyday name. and i like it b/c im bellydancing and it fits that too. like if my name was cherry or paris idk if is would fit belly as well, you know?
you can look thru names of stones/gems (ruby, amethyst!, saphire….), names of counties (paris, london…theres a lot of pretty ones that are not common but i dont know any off the top of my head). those are two good places to look. maybe you could take ur nationality and look for a town there with a name u like and fits u? like im portuguese and french so i would look at names in those to countries.
idk….theres so many names out there but it is hard to find one that fits! -
jungle!! haha ur so cute! so wish i was there!!!

the poles i’ve heard of and used (x-pole, platinum stages, and lil mynx) can all be used on any floor surface. the reason they are more money is because they are strong, durable, and safe. out of these 3, having tried the x and lil mynx, and heard about the platinum stages, i recommend the x. the x is also non invasive (you dont have to screw it into the ceiling) and portable.
i personally wouldnt spend money on a pole without knowing that it is safe and is good enough to take a beating.many people on this forum have purchased the peekaboo or electra pole and have either had the pole fall, have been hurt by the sharp edges, had it not fit to their ceilings properly, etc. to get a good pole, you have to pay a good price for it.
i have never hear of that pole. but from the picture/video it seems that the seperate pole pieces just slide together (like peekaboo). the x pole scres together so there is no movement between each piece. the lil mynx has a threaded compression system through the entire legnth of the pole, and this on only has a sprins on the top pole piece. these 2 things make it seem to be not the best to me.
and on the instructions of how to put the pole together it says that movement of the pole when your swinging on it is fine and normal. i dunno about that, the 3 poles i spoke of do not move at all (unless they are speccially made to be really tall, they may).
i would be carefull when you get this pole. if you do put it up, try pulling and tugging hard from every direction before you spin or swing on it. but it sure smells like a peekaboo type to me.
the x-pole is definitely worth the money if you are serious about pole dancing. what did your teacher say about it that talked you out of getting it? what pole does she/he use??

hey guys! i posted this a while ago so i did choose a name a while ago. and i did choose Amethyst! My cousin said it might be better to add name after it. Hers is Alexxis Rae. She suggested Amethyst Skyy. Do you guys like that better, or should i stick with Amethyst?

Sascha i’m so sorry! I would’ve been soooo mad!!! ugh people just needa get over it and realize that its not a bad thing. like venna said, we use sex to sell everything. people think that pole dancing leads to nudity and sleezyness, but what about our favorite movie stars? they’re allowed to get naked for billions of people to see and people admire them! ohhh whatever.
hopefully one day it will be more accepted -
Here are some simple and healthy tips to lose weight the right way:
-don’t skip meals, especially breakfast, your metabolism will slow down if you do.
-drink 1/2 of your body weight in ounces of water (ie: I weigh 158lbs, I drink 76 ounces of water a day) Many times your body interprets thirst as hunger and if you’ll find if you drink a cup of water you’re no longer hungry!
-snack on healthy and filling foods (ie: fruit, nuts in small quantities, veggies)
FleurFleur all that was very good advice. I just have to ask…how tall are you??? lol i know, weird question. but you said you weigh 158 lbs. i weigh about the same, and i’m about 5’9". but your sooo thin! i’m not overweight or anything, but you definitely look great! i know that if you have more muscle you will weigh more and still be thin also, and i know that your strong from seeing you videos!
and its encouraging becuase girls in my pole class seemed to be able to do things easier because they had less pain. the tiny girls could sit on the pole and have it not hurt as much, where my 160lbs on that skin was unbearable. i know everyone has a different pain tolerance too, but it was sooo bad. my teacher also said that if you weight more, its more pressure on your body. so its always good to see someone whos the same size as me be able to do advanced moves! i know there are others on this site also, and its very encouraging. hopefully the pain will go away at some point =) -
Read the book "SKINNY BITCH"! It’s about what you put in your mouth. it’s not a "diet" it’s a healthy way of eating, and it’s changed my life and my body in 2 weeks. I feel great! But you have to be willing to be vegetarian and shop in the natural foods section/ stores.
Trust me! It’s so funny and easy to read too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gifi havent read the book, but i’ve heard about it. and from what glitter wrote about how it says to wait till ur starving to eat, i do not agree either.
i am a vegetarian, but i have been thinner as a meat eater also. when i first became vegetarian i gained weight b/c i really didnt know what to eat. you can still eat chips, ice cream, cookies, etc.vegetarian is healthy if you do it right, but its not a means to loose weight (although you often do, just b/c you cut out the fat from the meat). its a way to lower cholesterol and you can be healthier, but i wouldnt make it as a reccomendation to loose weight.
just eat healthier and exercise. cardio and weights is best =)
