I’ve got a SM flip question… (btw, sorry if this has already been addressed before. I couldn’t find it on the site!)
I have been working the flip this evening and was able to (finally) land on the pole. Yay! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I’m wondering though, if the crazy pole burn/friction on the top of my forearm is normal. My usual shouldermount is on the right shoulder with my right hand on the bottom. I flip this way too, off to the right. From my elbow to halfway down my forearm on the top of my right arm is all red and sore. I’m wondering if this happens to other people on that bottom arm, or if maybe I’m just holding on too long and I got smashed up against the pole just before landing?? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
Thanks for any insight!

I was just researching this yesterday, wow! I will definitely be checking in on you to see what you think about the Reset. I am interested in finding a way to recharge, reamp, reenergize, refocus… a good way to start the summer off, don’t you think?! Good luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Leave it to my own parents to truly empower me as a pole dancer.
And you have, in turn, empowered me to bridge this gap with my own parents when the time comes. The pole still comes down when Mom and Dad come to town… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
Thank you for this lovely post.

Walmart carries a line of Hanes underwear that are boycut. The stitching on them makes them look like they have the crotch opening like men’s undies but they do not.
These are my go-to shorts for class! I love them. I ended up buying them in a L, even though I would be a S/M in normal undie sizes. I find they fit more like shorts and less like undies, but still no gaps in the crotch… which is good. I even cut the white tags off of a pair of my black ones and wore them in my last performance. They stayed opaque even with camera flashes, so they still get the thumbs up from me! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
I noticed that the last pair I bought were more of a low-rise version, which I actually like better. It seems like Walmart (and Target too) is still between the old style and the new style these days, but try ’em both!

Since there are more polers from Colorado maybe we need to get together and have a pole jam! I’d love to meet you girls!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
I think this is a great idea! I’m in Woody Creek… you??? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I feel your pain! And quite literally at that… I took a six-week hiatus from class to nurse a screwed up elbow and a good dose of sinus infection, and I went back last week not knowing what to expect. I purposefully took it SUPER slow, really focused on proper form and thinking each move through without just jumping right back into the moves I was doing before I stopped. I am so glad I did! By the end of class I tried some of the harder tricks I was previously doing without even thinking about it… and I STILL have the bruises to show for it! My body knew what to do, but my skin was FAR from ready. I was actually surprised with how quickly the movements came back and how good it felt to be walking around the pole again. I am sure that you’ll get right back into the swing (ha!) of things and back on your normal routine in no time. Financially, it’s really tough to keep going ALL the time, but I find that if you can maintain your general fitness level through the time you can’t be in class, then the skin burn is really the only thing holding you back. Have fun back at class! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

Well said glitterhips!!
I’m taking a deep breath… here we go… (crazy how difficult this is!)
I love my arms. They show off the best muscle definition in my body and I know I can trust them to pull me up a cliff, up the pole, or just through my day. They are also the only body part I’ve ever been complimented on by random people. That’s gotta be a good sign, right?!
I love my legs. They are long, toned, strong, and talented. They can tele, run, climb, dance, mountaineer, and – oh yeah – get me up that pole! They look spectacular in heels.
I love my smile. It’s super white, super huge, and super naturally easy. I wear it 98% of my day and find it really hard to frown. It’s gotten me everything from tips to directions to "just a warning" to my man. I’m a teacher and my kids have asked me why I smile ALL the time. Did you know it takes way more muscles to frown than it does to smile?!
Whew! Not so bad once you start typing! I also love learning about Operation Beautiful and am going to start carrying an extra sticky pad and a Sharpie around with me. I can only imagine how seeing one myself would make me smile!
Thank you for starting this thread and getting us all thinking beautiful thoughts!

It’s not something you can do in your own living room, but I’ve been going to a Zumba class for a few weeks now and I LOVE it. If there is a class offered near you, check it out. I guess each instructor can tailor their classes however they see fit, and the lady who runs my class is way more high energy than some others I’ve seen. It’s a dance/cardio class, mixing salsa, hip hop, indian style dance moves, and many others. Sometimes I can’t figure out whether my brain tires out first or my legs! It’s also a great way to brush up on some dance moves that come in so handy in floor work on the pole! Check it out!

Oh hey, would you look at that! Who knew Colorado had a modest turnout on SV?! I’m up in Woody Creek, but have been trying to put together a Denver pole trip this spring… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_santa.gif

Woah. What a concept! I don’t have an answer for you, but thanks for spreading the word about what’s new out there. My dance group uses a PS stage, which is okay, but this seems much better. Less hassle, less intruding stage, more usable pole… hmmmmmmm. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif

What a great question!
I’ve actually been noticing lately that I tend towards a big graceful ballerina spin when I need some space to fill. I’ve been trying to come up with other "standbys" so that I have some more variety. Maybe I’ll check out some of YOUR standby moves to add to mine! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I just added myself too… looks like I’m hanging out in pole land all by myself for hundreds of miles! Come on Colorado! Get it together!

Ooooh! I definitely want to be in on this email list! I am in desperate need of new pole shorts! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif mailto:k2weller@gmail.com

Great idea! I’m game! I’m also a bit late filling this sucker out…
name: Kristina
age: 30
location: Colorado
stage name: Lexi
lessons or self taught: Lessons plus picking random things up on YouTube videos and trying to incorporate them.
spin or static: Mostly static… but I’m really wanting to get better on spinny mode. Trying to stave off that puking feeling a little longer each time!
shoes or barefoot: I love love LOVE my Pleasers in class, but I have to go barefoot at home or else I kick out my track lights.
favorite pole move: Right now, it’s… do I have to pick just one?!… um… working on the inverted yogini, and that’s pretty cool!
day job: Elementary school teacher. I’m actually wondering if doing a "Hot For Teacher" Halloween dance would be a little too close to home or not…
your best/sexiest feature: I like how strong my arms and legs are. 6 inch heels do something incredible for legs too!
how you got into pole dancing: Dragged to a class a few years ago by a friend. Loved it, took a break for a while, and then got back into classes on my own. I’ve been going pretty steadily for a year now and don’t have any plans to stop soon!
how you found out about studioveena.com: I was watching some random pole videos on YouTube and got directed this way. Sooooooo glad I found you all!
if you were a pair of underwear would you be a thong, boy shorts, bikini cut or granny panties: Tanga! Sweet and sassy, but practical for pole work too!
