I'm glad you have the lessons; I bet you'll find them really helpful. To be honest, the class doesn't sound very safe. You could end up pushing yourself on a new move you're not ready for and wind up hurting yourself. Also, it's not fair for you to feel like crap because you're the only beginner; you need to be able to go at your own place.

That's too bad it's so chaotic; hopefully they'll get everything sorted out as time goes on. Are they teaching the whole class things the really advanced girl doesn't even know, or just moving around and working individually with each of you? If you end up not signing up again, get Veena's lessons–they are the best value for your money of anything out there in relation to pole lessons, and she breaks everything down so well and teaches you how to get into moves safely. She also has conditioning exercises for beginners, and a ton of lesson content, plus she's always adding new stuff. I seriously pimp her lessons to anyone who will listen–they have helped me with so many moves I've been struggling with. If Veena's lessons were a man, I would marry them–that's how disturbingly passionate I am about them. lmao

Ahahaha, Mini–you make it so easy for me to stalk you. *Twirls mustache diabolically*
No Youtube channel for me. Well, technically I have one, but I only have about 5 non-pole videos that are private and I'll probably be deleting them soon anyway; they're a couple of years old and were just put up for some friends from another forum and I don't think they're really relevant anymore. I don't plan on posting any YT vids–I just don't have the patience for losers who don't have anything better to do than post about how fat and whoreish I am from the comfort of mommy's basement. I will stalk you guys on YT now, though–at least you can be sure that I won't post anything like 'hey, i want to know if u can do that on my pole, no wat i mean?' I'm really over guys thinking that's a witty line–come on. At least give me something that hasn't been used 8 million times in some form or another. We get it. You're comparing the pole to that wilted twig between your legs. Ha ha.

hooked–I am sooo relieved to hear you say that; I saw you mention in an older post that you'd switched from a ss Lil Mynx to a TG and was wondering how you were getting along with it. I'm getting a 45, btw–I was originally just going to go with a 50, since that's what my Lil Mynx is, but I was kind of curious about the 45s, and I happened to see a post on here from a member who was selling her almost brand new TG 45 X-pole; I could get it a little cheaper than a brand new X so I decided to just jump on. She said she's only put it up once and been on it about 5 times but just doesn't have the time or space for it, so it's basically brand new. I should be getting it soon; we're just waiting for Paypal to verify her account right now so I can send her the money. I am so freaking excited–there will be so much high school girl squealing from this 24 year old tomboy when it arrives. I have a feeling I'm going to feel like a rockstar on it after my ss, but maybe that's just hopeful thinking.
I will definitely post pictures and video when it's here, and I'll let you know how I get on with the 45 after switching over from a 50. I'm very interested to see how it will feel.

I have really sweaty hands and a lot of grip problems on a stainless steel, so I'm getting a TG because I've read it's supposed to mimic brass although it is still not as grippy. I am not opposed to trying brass eventually, the upkeep just sounds like a pain and I'm concerned about the warping you experienced. It may have been because it was a really skinny pole, like you mentioned. Bobbi's studio uses really skinny brass poles too–I wonder if they've had anything similar happen?
Also, I'm curious–kind of off topic but does such a skinny pole help you pull off advanced moves more easily? Do you prefer it to the 50mms? The TG I'm getting is a 45–I'm coming off a ss 50mm so it's definitely going to be different; I'm excited to try it, I'm just wondering what it's going to be like. I hear leg grips are harder but gripping with the hands (which is my big problem, my thighs are usually like glue,) is a lot easier with a smaller pole.

I have carpet, but I'm planning on moving sometime in the next year or two, so if I wind up with easily damaged hardwood floors, I will definitely have to try this. Thanks for posting; I bet someone will find it helpful.

I'm seriously thinking about investing in some of their DVDs; those guys are just sooo damn bendy! Makes me jealous. I do have two of their e-books, which I really like; I assume the DVDs are similar to those. The e-books have easier variations for every stretch in them, so if the DVDs are set up the same, they should be fine for beginners. For each stretch they generally show you an A B and C pose–C is where you eventually want to end up, but if you're not flexible enough, then you do the B pose or even the A if you're really rigid in a certain pose. They're all yoga poses, if I remember correctly, and the warm-up is a sun salutation. They're very simply laid-oud and easy to follow, as well as being very decently priced.

Yikes; I'm glad you're ok. This is one of my biggest fears–I've fallen off the pole plenty on my own, and I can deal with that; I'm falling onto carpet, and if it's a new move, I pile a bunch of giant couch cushions at the bottom so the only thing hurt is my pride, but I do not want that pole coming down on top of me.
I have heard brass is a softer metal; was this a PS pole then? Is such severe warping common with brass, or was this a fluke? I probably won't ever own one anyway because they sound like a bit of a pain to clean, but I have vaguely thought about it before and this makes me very nervous.

To be honest, I don't really have any body issues–I've always been pretty comfortable with myself and the way I look, but watching my videos back is always depressing for me. I've been really frustrated with my grip, and it has caused issues to the point that individual moves look really nice–strong, graceful, etc., but they look horrible when I try to link them into a routine because my pole is so slippy and I sweat a lot. So I get to watch a bunch of graceless struggling to just climb the pole and get into an air invert, which ticks me off–I mean, I could flag without jumping into it the first day I started pole, I can do all my inverts without any jumping at all, so I know I have the strength, my damn hands just slip and I can't pull myself up. Moves look a lot clunkier than they should because I have to struggle so much to get into them because of the slipping and sliding. I finally just decided screw it, just wipe the pole down in the middle of a routine if you have to…the problem is that now half my videos consist of me wiping the stupid pole, so I don't think that's much better.
I'm getting a TG X-pole soon, so I am really hoping the TG will react much better with my body chemistry than my stainless steel Lil Mynx. I'm also excited to try spinny mode, since mine is static only, so hopefully I'll finally be able to post some videos I'm proud of.

I can't believe the way she was flipping all over the place like that in heels–I'm proud of myself for just walking around in them and not falling on my face! Plus, it combined two of my favorite things–pole dance and Tomb Raider.

I didn't pay close enough attention before on what part of mississippi you were from–I had a friend that actually lived in Hattiesburg for a while; I actually stayed with her while she was there for a bit. It was a little bit of culture shock for a Yankee like me, but I had fun; glad to know they've finally got a pole studio there now.
-
Definitely agree–we should be able to have both. The polers who put in purely athletic, gymnastic routines, and those who like to sauce it up a little. And we do, the problem is the two sides can't always live in harmony, unfortunately. I've seen some nasty comments on Alethea Austin's videos along the lines of how unclassy/slutty she is and how she's undoing everything the pole community has strived for along the lines of making people see it as something beyond just stripping. And I think that's unfair, because, aside from being sexy, Alethea is an incredibly strong, fluid dancer, and I don't see why she should be crapped on just because she likes to do her thing in 7 inch heels.
-
Oh yeah; I definitely agree that her routine was beautiful and that there's nothing wrong with showing people that pole can be similar to ballet–in fact, I think you have to kind of know your audience and anticipate how they'll react before you bust out a raunchy routine, i.e. you wouldn't break out the stripper heels and the heavy grinding for your bible study group. It just kind of bugs me when people act like pole dancing being even remotely associated with stripping and clubs is offensive somehow. Let's face it; a lot of the moves we do are based off ones that were born in the clubs. I guess I just wish there didn't have to be such division–as in pole dancing takes an incredible amount of skill, strength and flexibility, but the sexy side of it is part of the fun and those sexy aspects started in clubs. Not to mention, there are fantastic pro dancers who started off as exotic dancers.
I know people are just trying to legitimize it, but I don't think it's necessary for the attitude some polers adopt toward strippers. (BTW, I'm not accusing anyone here of having that attitude, I'm just speaking in general.)

MemberMay 21, 2011 at 1:34 pm in reply to: Please Vote for me For Pole Dancing UniverseDamn; I can't vote because I no longer have a FB account. I'll try and remember to make another one up–I've been meaning to anyway. Anyway, that was a beautiful performance! I really hope you get in.

Totally agree with you Holly. I'm not a stripper, but it's frustrating to me sometimes how there is so much emphasis on the 'OMG I'm not a stripper eww I just do this because it's a great workout' etc. etc. etc. Like it or not, there is a sexy side to pole–in fact, that's why I got into it in the first place. I love the sensuality of it, and yes, sometimes when I pole dance, some of my clothes come off, and I love that part of it too. Stripping can be an art just like pole, when done tastefully and well.
Ivy, that's awesome that you actually make money off pole tricks. I get on stripperweb sometimes, and the general idea I get from that forum is that money is not really made in doing pole tricks, so a lot of them don't bother with it unless someone specifically requests and pays for it.
-
Yep! lol I remember when I first started poling, I banged up the back of my leg/knee pit so badly it actually hurt to sit down. That was from doing back hooks; it took me a while to get graceful at that move.
You'll get them at all stages in your poling, from beginner to super advanced. I remember watching a performance of Alethea Austin's, and the camerman zoomed in on her, and I realized I could see a big ol' bruise on her leg. I was like 'Hey, Alethea's legs look like mine!' It made me feel better.

Congrats on taking that step and getting your own pole, and welcome to the site!

MemberMay 19, 2011 at 11:48 pm in reply to: Like new 45mm Titanium Gold Xpert Xpole For Sale in HoustonI am definitely wondering if the 45mm will help with my split grips. I can do them fine, but sometimes it definitely feels like there is just a little too much pole there, if that makes sense.
It's too bad you have to sell your pole, but at least the money from the sale of this one would mostly cover a new one, and eventually you'll have the room and time for a new one, although I definitely feel your pain about being poleless. It was years after I first became interested in pole dancing before I actually got my first pole.
Go ahead and PM me your info; I have a Paypal account–I really don't buy anything off the internet unless I can go through Paypal, so that's perfect for me. Also, would you be willing to wait a few days for payment? I wasn't expecting to buy a pole for another couple of months, but when I saw this I decided to jump on it, so I'll have to transfer the money over into my checking account, and the friend who is buying my pole wasn't going to pay me until Monday, although she wanted to just pre-pay and get it out of the way even if she had to wait three months for my Lil Mynx, so if she knows she could get it a lot sooner she might actually be willing to pay tomorrow. Just let me know.

MemberMay 19, 2011 at 10:59 pm in reply to: Like new 45mm Titanium Gold Xpert Xpole For Sale in HoustonI'm definitely interested, I'm just a little bit hesitant because of the size; I learned on a 50mm and have never had the chance to use anything else as there aren't any studios nearby. I have fairly typical, daintly little girl hands, however I have pretty long fingers–I can just barely touch my thumb to my middle finger when I wrap my hands around a 50mm, and I'm just wondering if a 45mm might be a little too skinny. However, if I remember correctly, I saw a comment by Veena on here that says she doesn't have small hands and she loves her 45. Do you have pretty small hands, or average, and if so, does the pole seem a little too skinny for you?
And I would definitely take on the cost of shipping; how much would you charge, just the $40? That seems pretty typical everywhere I've looked at poles.

I was originally looking at a 50 mm, but I have been curious about the 45's. The Xpole Sport is the only stationary only X right? So this is spin mode and stationary? I'm in Washington; I know you said you'd prefer someone in the area, but would you be willing to ship to Washington?

Voted! Good luck, and I love the pinup look on you! Hope you win.

Definitely keep things slow–lapdancing and stripping is all about the tease, and it's not a tease if you just whip your top off. I originally got into pole dancing through S Factor, which is based on stripping and erotic movement, and they have some really good tips–for instance, if you're stripping out of a button down (which I love–you can draw it out longer,) button just three buttons. Start with the bottom. Finger the button while doing some slow hip circles, and look up at him. It's a kind of 'are you suuuure you really want me to unbutton this?' look; wait until you have his undivided attention, then slowly undo it. Repeat this with the other two buttons. To draw it out, in between buttons play with your hair, run your hands over yourself, etc., etc. Really take your time–that draws out the tease and makes the anticipation all the greater.
Also, like amcut mentioned, you don't have to stay in his lap. I always alternate between floowork and actual lap dancing. Make sure to highlight whatever part of yourself you know he likes best–whether that be your butt, legs, breasts. So if he loves your boobs, take your pants/shorts/skirt off first and draw out the shirt stripping. If he loves your ass, take off the shirt first and draw out the bottoms strip. Basically, you want him to be desperate to see whatever it is your unveiling by the time you totally undress it. There should be a little bit of frustration in it–play with zippers and buttons, make it look like you're about to unzip/unsnap/unvelcro something and then just stop and go into some sexy floorwork.
-
He's actually surprisingly well-behaved…until after the dance. He won't even try to grab my ass or anything–he just sits there without touching unless I let him, even though I can tell he really, really wants to–I think it's because the first time I ever danced for him I very strictly warned him that if he didn't behave, he wouldn't get anymore dances. Ha ha ha. Everyone dealing with octupus arms should try that next time–it seems to be a very good threat. Also, he knows I could crush him with my massive pole biceps. lmao
-
He's not going to be bored. lol Just pick whatever song you like and gets you in the mood to dance and go with it, regardless of length. When I dance for my boyfriend, I actually usually do two songs–one for the pole dance/striptease, and a second one for the actual lap dance. I don't pick them according to their length; I've actually done a couple of longer songs for both of my music selections and he's never complained. Honestly, your guy will be too busy inwardly rejoicing at the fact that he will soon be seeing the marvelous creation known as boobs. I do some tricks during my pole dances for my boyfriend, and while he thinks they look cool, I'm pretty sure he could honestly care less if I did nothing but grind around the pole and touch myself for several minutes. I told him once that next time I was just going to take off my top and jump up and down repeatedly while standing next to my pole because it was less labor intensive for me, and he'd enjoy it just as much. He didn't argue with me. lol
