I had a stainless steel Lil Mynx for 2 years, although I did struggle with it being slippery, it served me well during that time.  However, when I got into things that required more grip (aside from sweaty hands) I had to replace it.

Another thing I didn't like about lil mynx (unless they've done something about it since), due to my ceiling height, we had to use the extension that is at the top of the pole.  That extension part of the pole is NOT usable for poling, so I had to adjust when learning aerial invert and caterpillar climb, and could not pole climb higher.  They need to have a cover for that section like xpole does.

I've had a 50mm titan gold for almost a year and love it.  I haven't had any problems with fading or joints.  Husband and I check it regularly.  I'm hoping to get a 45mm titan gold as soon as I can.  I'm temporarily practicing on a 45mm chrome and it's working out well, but I think I still want another tita gold, hmmm

I understand the decision making for this purchase, I went through the same thing, believe me!  It was hard.

I usually wouldn't be able to participate during this scheduled time due to work, but I'm home sick today (my boss sent me home) so will check in.  Curious as to how skype works for something like this.  Have only tried skype once with a friend.  Won't be able to pole or workout though, BUMMER.  I hate being sick!!!  Well, don't anyone let me cuz I'll be tempted for sure 🙂

Wonderful idea…I happen to have a funky work schedule, though 🙁  I'm with plantinum, work during the work, but work a split shift so not home in the evenings.  I'm PST time zone.  Platinum, what time zone are you?  In a couple of weeks my schedule will change and won't work nights Mondays or Wednesdays.  I'm also off Friday nights.

Have fun  with SKYPE POLE PARTY w/ SKITTLES, that time I'll be at work 🙁

I see others here in same time zone, maybe something can be set up?

Boy, am I familiar with the decision making about poles!  I started with 50mm stainless steel Lil Mynx which worked for couple of years.  Then i couldn't deal with lack of grip, so went crazy trying to decide between titanium gold and chrome xpert.  I wondered about 50 vs 45, but more about the finish.  I ended up getting 50mm titanium gold and love it.  However, recently had a lesson on a 45mm and think I fell in love.

I came home to practice the new things I learned on my 50mm and struggled a little bit.  I have a 45mm chrome that I'm holding for someone and using it to see how it works.  I am liking the 45mm and when I get another pole, it will be a 45, probably titanium gold also.  Although the chrome has not been that bad.  I'm very thin and was concerned leg grip on 45, however, I am able to get into and hold Advanced Plan and CKR very well, which surprised me.  Although I haven't tried CAR yet,.

I do need to eventually get back to my 50mm because this 45 will probably get it's new home before i am able to get a new pole 🙂

Good luck with your new pole.

I for one am thankful to have a crash mat.  I pole for fitnesss and exercise so using one doesn't get in the way of me practicing since I don't spend time dancing, floor work, etc.  I know me and until I got one, all I kept saying is "I need a crash mat."  I bought a 1 "memory foam queen matress pad for cheap at Big Lots, but that was a false sense of security cuz it didn't offer much protection, I found that out when I fell out of an Advanced Plank flat on my rear when I was still learning it and not confident.  AND where was my crash mat, up against the wall!!!  After that I used it everytime I practiced that hold and others, it allow me to practice more comfortably.

My previous couch had cushions to use, but it was difficult to place them around the pole, since being a beginner at that time, I rarely ended up where I was supposed to.

I was in the process of biting the bullet to buy one, but ended up finding one, also for really good price and am glad I have it.  As for one to use with heels, probably not.  I have also read pros/cons for using one, but I'm glad I have one for when I feel the need.

I started 4 yrs ago and at the time was very active with workout, aerobics, power flex weight training, etc.  Believe me, when I started a 4 wk pole class, none of what I had done physically prepared me for what pole required!  It was like starting from nothing.  I could not do a pole hold, climb, basic spin or anything.  It took time to build strength for each new thing we worked on.  Some of what I do now has taken me 3 years to develop strength and confidence.  And for me, each new spin or trick requires building the strength for each one.

I had to realize patience is the key, taking time to learn and practice,  As well as what I learn will not look like someone else's, but I'm happy with what my brain and body will allow me to do.  I tried to do too much in the beginning and it became frustrating and no fun.  Then I decided to enjoy what I can do, get a good workout when practicing and let the rest come when it was time.

My encouragement is to have the fun that pole has to offer and be patient.  We've all been there, believe me (and I still am!)

    Welcome to sv!!!

Hi Fizzy, is the mat still available or did you sell it already?  A friend of mine is VERY interested in it.

    Thanks!

Yes, it freakin' hurts.  I remember hopping off the pole grabbing my thighs in sheer pain, they used to get beat red from the friction.  It also took me a while to learn how to make the turn over especially when it hurt so bad.  Now when I do it (all-be-it still can smooth it out to look nicer) my husband laughs because he remembers when I was learning it.  I even had to leave it for a while and come back to it.  I also still spin a little when getting into it.  I have to invert on a side opposite of where I want to end Superman 🙂

Like glitter said, if you can post a video, you will get great help and tips from veneers here.
