Just letting you ladies know, Tite Grip updated their site to reflect "Tite Grip II Lavender". Don't forget to apply 30-60 minutes before poling for optimal results! Enjoy! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

It's a showcase on January 15, 2012 in Lawrenceville, NJ. Basically promoting pole dancing and showing local talent in NJ. Theater performance style with an audience. No vendors.
-
Ooh yay! Glad you brought this back!
-
A friend walled me about this. I'm debating as I'm not big on public performing. Even though I pole at clubs with friends or street pole. An audience is a whole different story! Haha! That and I don't have any time to make a video before 10/30 deadline. I might go but Lawrenceville is farrrr. North of Trenton.
Are you going? Are you submitting?

@lilblondie – Awe!!! I guess every workshop is still different, even though the same teacher. Always depends on the class as a whole. Wish I took Derick's workshop! Kept bumping into him everywhere.
Sorry you got injured too. My forearm was sore after sunday, then in a complete knot after Prana's wednesday open class. We did a lot there too. Spin combo: front hook to back hook and swing to front hook, cross side sit, reach out, then aerial princess grip SM. Swoosh Down (my new favorite!!!!) and Swooshy. Kept practicing aerial princess grip SM to get into it. Aerial TG on spin (first ever! yay!!! Although couldn't really spin, so just aerial TG. lol!). And another slow spin combo: prockstar, CAR, bridged CAR, plank.

^ Yay! Let me know how you like it. Also remember, each sample is meant for ONE TIME use, so use the whole packet and mix/rub onto hands and contact points. So you get the full effect of the tube.
-
You can order Tite Grip II lavender direct from the website. http://www.tite-grip.com . It’s the only place where it’s available, unless I see you in person in NYC. Exclusive!! Haha!
Joe Ginger didn’t update the website yet but he did start shipping the new formula instead of the old formula. I asked him to add II – lavender but his web designer is currently working on a completely new site so it’ll show soon. You will receive the lavender formula unless you email and specifically request the original formula, which is phased out.
It’s the formula he’s been working on for the past 3 years. Completely legit and way better. 😉
As for samples, he’s sending out the new formula samples as well. For some reason they’re separated inside so each sample is one time use. Mixes while you rub it into your hands. The tubes don’t have the separation problem. Guaranteed you ladies will LOVE it!

Oops hit send too early! Silly phone. Back to Tite Grip II – Lavender, so say you reapplied 4-6x during practice, you only need 1-2. Best part, no more chalky buildup on your hands!!! It works on all contact points as well.
I’ve been using the new formula since early Sept, as with a few close friends and more recently, a few pole stars, and we all LOVE LOVE LOVE the new formula. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the original Tite Grip more than the other grip aids. But this? Even better. My grip is actually much stronger now and I never slip. I also still use the white distilled vinegar trick.
-
Tite Grip II – Lavender is the holy grail of holy grails with grip aids for sweaty hands and feet. It applies completely colorless, no more orange!! It smells like perfect lavender, no more spearmint!! No more transfer on the pole!!! It lasts through sweat and requires less reapplying. So say

Haha Veena! You go girl, with your huffing and puffing bad self! 😉 Be the first (female) poler. The only other ones I saw do this were David Owen and Isaac Pena. It’s hard!!!

So I tried Felix's elbow stand lift to forearm stand today during improv dance. It's actually easier than I thought it would be! Was able to slide my legs and deadlift up when my head was straight, barely touching the ground. Then pushed up into forearm stand, looked at the floor, and bent to scorpion.
I'm still wondering if it's possible for polers to deadlift straight from forearm stand. lol! PaulettePole's original question.
-
The beginning of Felix's deadlift was improper form with arms bent for a split second. She used the pole as an extra balance point to deadlift up. But after, she used proper form as she straightened her arms up and looked to the floor.
The only real danger I can see is falling on your head or face. If there's no pole, then you'd just fall flat on your back. LOL!

Professional videos will probably not be out till months from now and recording was prohibited. Though I can tell you, the photography was done by Toni Wallachy and I am highly looking forward to that.
All in all, APFC weekend was amazing. For the competition, I called 5 out of 6 winners, Phoenix, Laura, Derrick, David, and Suwasit (I missed all but 30 seconds of Heidi's and from what I saw, gorgeous). All jawdropping performances. David's being the most original/flexible, Derrick/Winter/Heidi being the most fluid, Suwasit being the most emotional, Phoenix/Laura/David being the most powerful. I wasn't too impressed with the non-winning males this year. Common moves and not enough performance. Kept hearing about it from others. However, all the females were very impressive.
The show itself was swag. Red carpet was a perfect touch (Can't wait to see who won best dressed! So many gorgeous dresses), decent amount of vendors (I picked up a pair of Mighty Grip gloves), stage setup was good aside from the platforms, the wine/pellegrino were yummy, everyone got a copy of Pole Spin magazine, and space at the tables really helped my view (soooo worth it). Lol! Jenna did a great job co-hosting and Tinu was running around all over the place but as a spectator, APFC was well put together. I absolutely loved both their dresses.
After party was alright. Would have chose a better venue or DJ. Stitch's original DJ left like last month so music was blech. Marina's performance was quite unique and Prana ended up not performing b/c of her knee. It was cool seeing pole badasses do tricks on the X-Stage though. Jenyne being my favorite! Even seeing her on for a minute or so made my night. OMG love her, she's so sweet.
Did 2 workshops on Sunday, Allegra's and Emil Valentino's (whom were also judges of APFC). Allegra is amazeballs and the way she broke down moves made it easy. We learned the Allegra, closed allegra, triple V, a spin combo (bend, plank, poletini, plank, bend, drop split), allegra split (couldn't do), corkscrew/extended butterfly/pop-in opposite inside leg hang, TG lift, and spinning marley (couldn't do on spin). My pole buddy and I were a riot as we're static polers. She teaches in South Beach, where they don't spin. I ended up going to lunch with Allegra, David, Roland, and my husband. Not only is she an awesome pole star, she is an even more awesome person. And David, he's always been the nicest man ever. Emil's flexibility workshop was the deepest stretching I've ever done in my life. LOL! My friend Andrea (Cherry Blossom owner) and I kept making the funniest faces at each other! Not to mention I was intimidated being in the front between Emil and Lian, with Flying Laura and Derick Pierson behind me. LMAO! Lian was the best sexy flexy buddy a girl could ask for. I love B&P!!!!
-
On spin it looks the same, but on static it's different. Same tumble, different ways to fall, same end. I'll show you next time we see each other! 🙂 You fall to the side, Karol falls forward to the front.
-
^ Yeah, HollySatine, it looks more like a headstand than forearm/elbow stand. Your biceps should be parallel with the pole, shoulders/elbows aligned, with hands flat on the floor (see my pic below).
Also I agree with deadlifting into it is way harder than headstand or handstand deadlifting. I lead with 1 leg too. Actually I agree with Tine007, I think only contortionists or super bendy ppl can do this massive task! Hahhaha! I've only seen it twice in person and well… they were both contortionists.
-
It looks like Jenyne's tumble and Veena's tumble go sideways from sit to SM dismount. Karol's tumble is different. You pole sit, then lean forward all the way till your shoulder has contact, use double cup grip, then SM dismount.

MemberSeptember 24, 2011 at 1:04 pm in reply to: omg–how is this possible (spinning fan kicks)Hahhaha reverse fan kick LOOKS easy but boy, it's much harder than it looks. Took me a couple tries to perfect it. One of the Crunch teachers taught us in early August and pretty much everyone, no matter how advanced, had trouble! I think it's using more core and opposite muscles from what we normally use.

Yep… very unhappy. Not liking how recent feeds aren't automatic.
Its taken me a while to figure this out. Had to change a few privacy list settings with a friend and my husband's account to see what can be seen or not.
The ticker has me pissed the most. Luckily only unrestricted mutual friends can see your comment or like. But if your friend's wall is public, then EVERYONE on your friends list can see your comment. Now you'd have to check the other person's privacy settings before you can comment something…
For the recent feeds, if you create a new list called "Recent Feed" and add all your friends and fave pages to it. It's back in chronological order. That's the closest I could get to the old FB. Time consuming, but worth it.
All the other privacy settings like blocked wall posts, tags, certain albums/pics, posts, and so on are still blocked. I've always had different tiered lists of privacy. But it's so complicated now.
And sadly I don't twitter.

MemberSeptember 6, 2011 at 12:15 pm in reply to: handstands/elbowstands/iguana – flexibility issue? All of them take practice and knowing what parts of your body and core to engage.
Handstands – It’s mainly core integration. Ribs in so your stomach and ribs are engaged, tilt your tailbone in, shoulder blades trying to kiss, hands in line with your shoulders. For me, I cannot control lift a straddle into it, but the easiest/sexiest way I can is split kick into it. The more your forward folded, the better.
Elbowstands – It’s important to have your elbows directly under your shoulders, so biceps are straight down. Try either having your hands barely touching making a triangle shape or parallel/staight forward, whichever is more comfortable for you. Then keep walking forward towards your face until you can’t anymore, hold it for a bit to get the feeling, move your weight into your arms, and kick up. When you’re up, stick out your chest and arch back.
Iguana mount – Def shoulder flexibility. I still have trouble with this and maybe did it twice in my life. Lol! I prefer the half iguana mount where one hand is holding the pole and the other is in a handstand. I can straddle into that but it actually requires more core to mount into it.

@Runemist – IDK, beats me! Lol! It’s okay, we don’t have to worry about the men. 😉 Although Reenie might be onto something about men gaining in diff areas. It just calculates the proportions from wrist to forearm, then waist to hips. Compared to ht/wt. Then there’s a chart that says athlete, fitness, acceptable, etc.
@Reenie – It’s on the link I posted above. The body fat skin caliper and body fat calculator are pretty much the same thing when it come to measuring fat percentage. I want to pick up a BF caliper or if I find the scale that supposedly zaps and measures body fat.
-
I agree with all of the above. BMI is just a guideline which is not accurate most of the time. Which is why I recommend using BODY FAT % to determine if it’s muscle or fat. It goes by your measurement proportions of forearm, wrist, waist, hips, plus height and weight.
