I’m a hopeless case with splits. My hip flexors are so tight, I’m beginning to think something is wrong with me. I’ve been trying for almost 4 years. Tried daily stretching for a few months and nothing. Been bikram/hot yoga 3x/week since the summer and that seems to be working somewhat. I’m deepening my lunges, stretching my hams, pulling my pigeons…. Still no splits but flexibility progress is there. Maybe in 10 years.

Bikram yoga or hot yoga work wonders for sore muscles. Other than that, it’s all about stretching properly before poling. Yoga and pole are closer than you’d imagine.

They have arnica gel at GNC in UES for $2 rather than the branded arnica gel for $7-10. Works the same for me.
Oddly I found the reversital microdermastick worked better and faster than arnica. It’s not even meant for bruises. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
You’ll learn control after a while and the bruises will lessen. Though there are bruises you can’t avoid like the inner thigh one after the allegra.

It helps to keep your anchor/bottom arm locked. Whip your back leg around, rotate that hip close to the pole. hook as you release the other leg. Then fall back into your no-hands Gemini.
Sometimes you get more whip with an extended butterfly. But mostly pay attn to locked arm and close hip.
