I love it. Very cool and I love your outfit–so simple and pretty.

MemberNovember 9, 2017 at 3:01 am in reply to: Help/suggestions re: moving to lower ceiling, smaller room, light in the way, pole doesn’t fitThanks, ladies. There is a garage (not heated) but we’re park in the garage folks, particularly in cold Ohio winters.
As for the light, I’m picturing a big hole in the ceiling underneath that light fixture but perhaps not. Do I just take down the light and put the pole wherever the nearest stud is?As far as possibly vaulting the ceiling there is a little bit of attic up there and my dad did say it needs to be rafters not trusses in order to be vaulted or perhaps to not cost a fortune to be vaulted. It is rafters but I’m sure it’s still going to be expensive. Convincing my husband this is necessary will be the real trick. I’ve been so spoiled with my ten foot ceiling. There is a 17 foot ceiling in the living room but I don’t think there would be room to pole without moving every stick of furniture as it’s not a big room and the expense of a 17′ pole appears to be substantial.
Sigh.

Oh criminy. That really sucks. 🙁

Dry Hands–literally changed my poling. I didn’t even think I had sweaty hands but after using Dry Hands I can do so much more. Prior to that I used Mighty Grip but Dry Hands is much better for me. I’ve also used Itac 2 but it’s too sticky for me except perhaps behind knees or something but I wouldn’t put it on my hands. I even tried Cramer’s Firm Grip but it is very sticky also and I would personally only use it like Itac behind a knee or something. I pole on a Lil Mynx SS.

Enjoy, it will probably become an addiction–in a good way.

I wish I could hair flip but I stink at it. When I do manage it my hair always ends up plastered across my face in some unattractive way. I’m sure that’s a combination of my lousy technique and my flat as a pancake, thin hair. You’re not alone, we’re not all hair flippers. 🙂

Most of my bigger falls at least involve a trip to the chiropractor but I literally didn’t hurt or bruise a thing on this one. We got it tightened up now and when I screwed up my courage to fling myself again it stayed solid.
Be safe. 🙂

MemberAugust 25, 2017 at 2:11 am in reply to: question about pole expo in Vegas–what to wear? That’s a great idea AK as opposed to me standing in my closet staring at my clothes for so long that the light bulb gets too hot and goes out–then I can’t even see what I’m staring at.

I went back and looked at my IG to see what I did first. While I said I did elbow grip first I meant forearm grip because I didn’t do elbow until much, much later. So I did forearm grip and then split grip shortly thereafter. Elbow grip for me was ages later.

I wouldn’t pole one day and lift upper body the next. If I felt I needed to lift upper body I would (and have) lift on the same day I pole so they can recover the next day. Personally I would lift after pole if you’re going to do the same day because if my arms are too tired it will be a very crappy pole day but lifting after just means I’ll probably have to use lighter weights but the arms are still gonna get a great workout that day between pole and weights.

MemberAugust 24, 2017 at 12:17 am in reply to: question about pole expo in Vegas–what to wear?Allyson, I’m fascinated that you save your outfits! So organized. Thanks for weighing in. I tend to wear the sexiest clothes I own to a pole show figuring if I can’t wear it there, I can’t wear it anywhere. My thigh high black boots get to go to the pole show–and I wear them to the comedy club. Don’t ask me why I think the comedy club is appropriate. 🙂

Hmm, that’s a good idea. I haven’t had a chance to work on them since I posted. Been busy or maybe I’ve been busy pretending the marks aren’t there.
-
I’ll give that a try with the micro fiber. Thanks for the suggestion. Dang floors.

Pleasers and it was dragging the toes with my leg warmers completely over them! I tried vinegar in water but no luck so far. Perhaps repeated efforts will help or I suppose I may have to call a professional. I can imagine me (48-year-old) explaining what the marks are from to some 20-something.

Yesss! I am obsessed with finding a way to pole outside. The pole at my local playground is just not all enough–and the kids seem to think it’s for them to play on!

Hey Tropical, as others have said you’re not alone. I saw your most recent fall on IG and was worried as it looked like a hard fall. I have been off pole and all exercise for a month due to something going haywire in my back in a genie–I didn’t even fall, just leaned down, something moved and I was done. I had trouble walking for two weeks because of the pain going into my leg. So scary–not that I wouldn’t be able to pole but was suddenly worried I wouldn’t be able to walk without pain. You and I are about the same age. We have to be careful though I don’t think either of us are used to that or like the idea of limiting ourselves physically. I believe I am getting wiser with my choices and more careful but I don’t like it. I rarely if ever do challenges because poling every day or even close to it just doesn’t happen for me. I have only recently started going to a studio regularly and do enjoy it but, by and large I’m still poling alone at home too. I don’t have any good advice but wanted you to know I’m right there with you. I’m trying to protect myself so that I can be active now and for many, many more years.

Congrats Veena! You deserve the recognition.

@lyrapole I can’t comment on escape rooms in Vegas but I’ve done many in my hometown and love them. Always a good time. Perhaps we’ll cross paths in Vegas. My husband is going with me though I’m not at all sure what he’s going to do with himself, other than enjoy the “scenery” I imagine.

Thanks for all the advice. I forgot it’s all stage poles–though I’ve seen pictures so I should have known that. I’m not a fan of those things. Ah well, figure it may be the only time I go so I’m going to get my money’s worth–I hope–unless my old body says otherwise. Guess I’m gonna find out. Thanks for the tip on the Hard Rock–that is where I’m staying. That sucks that they won’t refund you.

I only have one day where they are back to back so hopefully I’ll be okay. I’m intend to step up my poling anyway to hopefully compete in March next year so Expo is just another motivation for me to get busy. 🙂

I think Dr. Ken Pole Ninja came up with it–that’s where I first saw it on his IG page.
