Well rounded that’s me. I am 5’8″ and run at 150. Thick in booty, thighs, abs, and boobs. Invert and get a face full of boob. Nickname Cookie Monster (my booty eats shorts faster than he eats cookies). Love the way you are because if we all looked the same life would be so boring. Don’t let your size as you say stop you from any goal you wish to try. So go out and do it.

I have my social learning time in class and use the lessons from online to clear up what I may have missed in class and add variations. I wouldn’t give up my classes at the studio I learn something new from multiple people. BOTH ARE WONDERFUL FOR ME.

As a 46 year old that has been on the pole for 4 years you never stop learning and you get stronger with each attempt. You will find moves you love and moves you hate, you will rejoice with each achievement and soak your bruises later. I pole to find myself after a tough week at work. The music fills and recharges me and the flow that I create from freestyle dance or the learning of a new move or taking a spin and making it my own is what keeps me coming back.

I video tape most of my private lessons. It would be a total hoot if I put together a mix of my ups and downs. I get into a tangled mess at times.

I kick my butt every class since work keeps me off the pole 5 out of 7 days. Wish I would have started sooner since I love love love it.

This is too funny. I’m glad that I have a studio of sisters. We have grown to become close friends throughout the years. I’m tall and big, not heavy but big. Shirts and shorts are always a problem. I double layer everything because my tank top shifts and boobs come close to coming loose and my shorts are full coverage but tell that to my booty that just thinks lunch. I’m gonna get cheeky no matter what I wear.
We wear what we are comfortable in and I agree. Dress how you would like your students too dress and we will follow.
For the studio that has the open door that public occasionally enters. That would make me self conscious and very uncomfortable. Our larger studio has a nice purple drape that prevents outside viewing. How would you like to be doing stretching and have strangers walk in while your spread eagle.
I’m thankful for my instructor that has just got in there and secured me back to the pole no matter what it takes. I’ve fallen once on my own and it’s a bad thing. So if your an instructor I’m sure you’ve had many butts in the face or boobs in hand but it’s better than 911! -
I have been known to do multiple classes in one evening and that is due to the fact that I work horrible hours and poling is my stress reliever. Its all in the conditioning you are doing. I do not pole continuously during the classes and sometimes I am even sharing a pole. What we do for conditioning is climb challenge (stay moving on the pole for the entire song without touching the ground) and free style dance on the floor, wall, or pole for an entire song.
With the way the classes run I end up with a 15 min. warm up, 10 min. warm up on the pole (free style transitions and climbs), 20-30 min. working on moves (spins, inverts, transitions), finished off with a free style song. Classes run 1 hour to 1.25 hour long.
As long as your enjoying yourself your doing well. You did not mention how long you have been poling just the amount of time you are working on it currently.

I’m not sure how porn jumped into the “She didn’t even try it and she is writing about it disapointment comment.” Just goes to show perception is what makes things acceptable or not.

You must have missed the “Bringing Sexy Back!” On Facebook. But the sexy never left they just pushed it away to main stream poling. If poling is going to the Olympics it’s going to become more trick based and less dance based. I miss beautiful flowing transitions

They are awesome but I would face plant trying to do anything but floor work in them. There are multiple sights out there. PleaserUSA has a whole bunch to look at. Enjoy your search. I usually go for the clear uppers due to the other types being too loose. Boots are cool too.

Remember that your body needs rest too. Alternate types of workouts so yo are getting your full body workout without overworking a single area. And take a total rest day.
You won’t build muscle and strength if you are not giving your body a chance to do its job. The bruising will stop in some areas but its gonna happen, guys just don’t get we are holding ourselves and putting a lot of pressure on a small area. New move – New bruise. -
Don't let it get you down. We all progress at different levels. Check out Veena's prep videos for inverting and keep working towards it. If your afraid to commit to a full invert leg on the pole try the inverted V and back down. You will only get stronger and develop more confidence in the end.
I have fallen out of an invert once and I have always been afraid to invert at home. No spotter available and no crash mat yet. The fear of "I've fallen and I can't get up!" keeps me from trying inverts at home. I have a membership at a studio close to home and love the contact with other ladies who are as passionate about pole as I am.
Good luck and keep on tucking. You will get there in the end. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Just smile sweetly and say, "Gee, I didn't know it was a stripper move. I guess you would know since you must go to strip clubs." People react so funny to you being nice and sunny about things they think are crude. Power too you! Don't give up what you do, love the fact that you and your mum pole together.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I have the 7" chrome, love them to death. They hold up really well, minor scratches but nothing that is overly obvious. I have seen the other girls in class wearing the UV and do not notice to much damage to their shoes. We tend to scuff the fronts due to floor work and other moves that drag but its not bad.
I prefer the clear over the other types of shoe material the only issue I have is the ankle straps start to wear out. I have small ankles and they seem to start tearing where the strap meets the shoe.
Best of luck on your shoe purchase. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

MemberDecember 21, 2012 at 11:02 pm in reply to: Being called fat…by other “pole dancers”?!?!DELETE AND BLOCK!!! Someone has image issues and it is not you. Happy and Healthy is the way we should all be. Skinny is not always healthy, a skinny person could have the same amount of body fat as you and zero muscle tone.
Keep up the good work, enjoy poling and never let anyone get you down. You must be a way stronger dancer than she is to be so rotten on your postings anyways.

My daughter is now 18 and started poling with my when she was barely 16. I asked permission from my instructor due to the fact that their policy is normally 18 and over. My daughter did not have a strong view of herself and was always complaining. "Im too short, my belly is too big, etc." The usual teenager style complaints that you normally get.
My daughter found her strength and self esteem in these classes. The ladies in my class enjoy her being there and she has learned alot. My daughter is now playing water polo in college and does not get a chance to pole as often but I do see a change in the way she carries herself. I believe the support of a great instructor and the fun we had together in class made a major difference. "Go Baby Buns!" The instructor's call of incouragement when she popped of her first invert without a struggle. It all depends on the child. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

MemberSeptember 24, 2012 at 8:47 pm in reply to: feeling like the juice is being sucked out of my lifePole is what saves my sanity. I was all work and no fun. Get up, go to gym, go to work, and repeat. I was bored with it all and getting restless. While surfing the internet I found a pole studio in Turlock. I took one sample class and was hooked. I now plan my vacation around how many extra pole classes I can fit in while I'm off work. I so look forward to my days off because I have pole class.
I have made new friends and have a new lease on life. I am more in tune with the female side of me (I work in a man's world) and much happier than I've been in a long time. Pole allows you to just let it all out and lose yourself in the music and your sensual side. Pole makes me feel beautiful and feminine. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_queen.gif

If you are at war with yourself because your daughter’s water polo game is the same night as class. What to chose arrgghhhh what to chose! You own more pole shoes than regular shoes. Your closet consists of work uniforms, a couple regular shirts and jeans, and pole tanks, shorts, socks, leg Warmers. Only a 1/4 of the closet is non pole items. You wake up in the morning and you know “ow, we did the booty workout last night”. My biggest is the fact that I plan my vacations around the number of extra pole dance classes I can squeeze in on my days off. Who cares about going somewhere on vacation, I want my pole class!

MemberAugust 17, 2012 at 12:52 am in reply to: Newbie Here! Too akward and not in shape enough for pole dancing?I’ve fallen in love with my studio and instructors all over again. I walked in to the studio without a clue, no strength, and out of shape. In two years I have learned so much and gained new friends. I was always encouraged and told that the muscles will learn and the strength will come. Our instructors have a class that challenges both brand new students and long term students. When someone makes a comment about not being strong enough or fit enough for pole she says, “That’s why you come to pole, to get into shape and build strength! ” So built yourself up and yes Veena’s lessons will be a perfect start for you to build your inner and outer pole goddess.

I have tried the short seam from V. Secret and they do have the center seam but they are very comfortable too. Its the pink brand of yoga shorts. The only issue I have is the metal decorations on the fold over part. Im not to fond of that but it covers the booty, got coverage from bottom to top when I don’t fold it down. I just wear a light tank top to protect my skin from the decorations. (Just say no the bum crack showing). They are worth a try in a pinch and you wont have any personals showing when you invert.

MemberAugust 8, 2012 at 3:02 pm in reply to: Is it a must to attend a pole studio to learn poling?I love the very well explained videos here and I do use Studio Veena as I guide, for me Venus Pole is my girls night out fun night of pole learning and seeing each persons unique style. We are a close group, lots of laughter, sometimes tears, great learning with the students we now count as friends. You can do it through the video help here, DVDs, or instruction in an actual studio. I chose what makes my pole learning enjoyable and progress for me. Never think your not progressing, even a small spin with your own flair and flash is progress. Wish you luck

Whatever you do don’t go in her house, your being set up. Get your personal stuff and if its really worth the return of your pole do it legally protected. Wishing you the best.

I’m currently a correctional officer and only a few people I work with know I pole. I was a Catholic school secretary and a construction worker prior to working in correction. Pole helps bring out the female and sexy in me since my job is pretty much a male dominated field.
