MemberSeptember 26, 2014 at 2:05 pm in reply to: Anyone up for doing Veena’s 30 day programme?Way to go everyone! I missed yesterday due to working 2 jobs and going out to dinner to celebrate hubby’s promotion, but I did Day 12 today and I feel great. I did so much better with the hard core warm up this time through, and added some twisted grip hangman attempts at the end. My shoulders feel so strong, I was sooo close to being able to get my feet of the ground I could taste it.

Veena has hooping lessons here, including how to make your own, and check out a site called Hip Hoop Hooray. Matt had a bunch of free hooping tuts there too.

We’re all doing Veena’s 30 day take off program (and a couple are doing the ab challenge too I think). You need to have access to her lessons here on the site first before you can participate. It’s a great way to progressively build up strength of you’re a new poler, and a fun way to go back to basics of you’re a more advanced poler or have been away from the pole for awhile or just want some guidance in your exercise routine.
I can’t remember what the code is but you can even get the lessons for free for 3 days to see what you think. 🙂 -
A solid Gemini will take you into loads of moves!

MemberSeptember 12, 2014 at 10:35 pm in reply to: You have 15 seconds to bust a move to impress a non-poler: what do you do?The Gemini (aka outside leg hang) is fairly simple and secure but it’s very pretty and seems to”wow” the non poling crowd.

Have you considered skyping? You’ll find loads of people here who may not live in Alberta but would love to pole with you non the less.
And it’s really easy! -
I’ve just realized there are (at least) 2 different colors… what does that represent?

I just noticed all the little stars and was wondering if that’s what they meant… ☺

I looked and looked and looked… finally decided just to make my own. Veena has a great how-to! I bought all the tools and material for 3 hoops at local hardware stores for less than $50.

I agree with that. I have the lessons but I never know when my subscription is going to run out. One day the lessons just don’t work anymore and I have to stop what I am doing, get my credit card, and repurchase before I can continue. It would be nice to get a warning of some kind before it happens.

@Phoenix Hunter I’d love to hear about the resistance stretches you do to work on them. 🙂 -
Hey that’s awesome. Can I ask where you’re taking classes? I have never tried it though so I can’t help you any. Sorry. 🙂

This happened to me too. Between biceps, lats, deltoids, and traps none of my pre-pole button up shirts and blouses fit! I’m close to having to go down a strap size in my bras though and my waist has shrunk significantly too. I’d put $$$ on it being muscles mass, not a diet issue. 🙂 GO POLE!

I’ve never been there myself. But pole junkies has 3 studios in Alberta, Edmonton and Calgary I believe. Enjoy your trip it is a beautiful area. 🙂

I attended a lecture last year given by Paul Chek. Amazing guy! If you haven’t heard of him you should look him up. Anyway, point being he talked a lot about the “core-4” muscles which include your diaphragm and really brought to light how important breathing properly in everything we do is. Very neat stuff.

I usually just climb into it, but I have exited it by taking the bottom leg off the pole and extending it either parallel to the ground (going into Rainbow) or taking it all the way up high (into cross knee release) then you can do any number of things from there.
-
Couple options for you; a little dance flat like a ballet slipper helps me spin smoothly when my feet are sticking, or put some packing tape on the bottom of your foot or shoes.

I’ve seen the reverse aysha used as a transition into the twisted grip, is it possible to reverse that transition and go back the other way?

I’m not exactly Niagara region but i live near Guelph. There are quite a few studios in and around the GTA and we have a couple of really good annual showcases around here; TPDFS just happened last Friday downtown Toronto, and vertical love is in Hamilton but I’m not sure when. There is a very healthy pole community around here. Hopefully you can find someone near you!

The clear heel is the same as my first heel! I love them. Have had them for years and just performed in them last Friday night. 🙂
