Suggestion: Advanced gemini/scorpio switches. (Have seen this move referred to as 180 degrees.) This is a move that I have seen advanced people do where they do gemini/scorpio switches but then add "flip action" with their upper bodies. It looks like doing a gemini/scorpio switch but then also flipping your body around to the to other side of the pole real quickly first then then doing the leg switch. "Penny" has recented posted a few videos lately where I have seen this move. Thanks for asking for suggestions, Veena https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

    tarah,

I have seen the "orange hands" you mention on someone else. I had a friend in high school who wanted to lose weight and tried a diet heavy, heavy in carrots and carrot juice. She did lose weight and she showed me how her palms had turned orange.

Thanks everyone. I am going to try the stronger levels beyond itac2. After posting my question, I also searched itac here at StudioVeena and found some older discussions about it. Very helplful : )

Question about slippery poles and itac:

Since so many posters here are writing about slippery brass….thought I might find a target group for my question: Anyone try itac levels higher than 2? I recently bought itac (level 2) which is recommended on the website where I found this. I figured this would be a calm grip. Not too grippy. I LOVE it. I find that it really helps me control my moves on my stainless steel pole and I can do more moves.  So now I thinking I might want even more grip and should move up to a higher level of itac. Anyone try higher levels than 2….and if so… did you like it? Also….I haven't even tried itac on my brass pole. I can still slip on my brass…it's not that sticky….but do not know if itac will hurt the brass. Is itac only for stainless steel? (Not finding information on the actual itac container about particular pole metals.)

Me too, PoleDollqid. I have a brass pole and a stainless steal. Bought brass first…..still love it….but it is too grippy at times. If I had to choose one over the other, I would choose, stainless steel….and it's less expensive : )

I bought a Platinum Stage Star Stand Alone and am very happy with it. I have seen the first review video here posted and thought, "Oh my goodness…..are the pieces of my stage able to flip around like I saw in the video? I have not noticed this yet? " So I walked all around my stage and the pieces are secure.  No flipping. I have a newer model since the review video, so perhaps the stage iteself has been improved.  I really like my Platinum Stages pole : )

Thanks @ Scarlethoney for the in depth reply. I understand what you mean about one way to  become more fluid is to just practice  and go for the combos. Fun to read from someone who really knows about Bobbi's. In reading more about the studio I also found a previous video you posted where you are actually practing at Bobbi's studio. Fabulous : )

I must add….did not know Scarlethoney trained or works out at Bobbi's. @Scarlethoney….your videos are great to watch. I have posted so…..if you are out there and can find the time….please share tips/thoughts on fluidity….or anything? Will be  fun to hear from you: )

Yes! I too watch videos on Youtube ….like the performance… and then will find out the dancer is from Bobbi's. Famous in the pole dance world. I also found on Youtube, a "Bobbi's Talk Show" format.  (Don't recall the link, but if you search Youtube….I am sure it can be found. )The dancers talked about the studio and dance moves. The dancers were friendly, funny and energetic.  Lots of personality.  Glad you posted this thought. Looking forward to see if anyone from Bobbi's responds : )

Congrats on flying ballerina, Fuzzy Navel. I like how  that looks too and I think from an audience perspective….the flying ballerina is even more dramatic. It is definitely a drama move no matter how it's performed. Right now, I am in the beginning awkward stages where I fumble around the pole. Might take a few months for me. Looking forward to when Veena posts the lessons. I will definitely watch those over and over and practice.

Yes, I do understand Sam H. Will try this. If you feel up to posting a vid….will watch too….but I understand, and thanks : ) I am a bit obessessed with this move. I was the same way with Superman. It  was very, very hard for several months and now I can do it. Working to accomplish the same with Ballerina moves.

    Amy,

Thanks for posting the link to vid. Just watched it. The video hits on something I am running into: Stickage on the pole after I climb and lean over. Yes! Will practice your tips on how to get away from this stickage situation : )

    Ollie,

I like your words. All the videos posted here draw me in also….no matter what the levels are. I mean it.  I watch to learn and also to be entertained! It's just fun to watch and think, "How do they do that? Looks great!"  And the videos that are meant to be funny….make me laugh as well. Maybe it's sincerity or a certain understanding we all have about tryingto be good at something and always working for improvement…no matter where we are on the pole journey : )

    Yes Wrinkletalk!

And….I may have been to the same gym you are talking about. I know Gold's gyms are a chain. I used to belong to one here in Florida. But years ago, while I lived in Los Angeles, a friend said he had to take me to this famous gym in Venice…..all the "hot bods" go there he told me….even Chuck  Norris.  We worked out there. I was a guest for an afternoon.   Small world. If not the same gym so what???? Still a small world. Like your posts about fitness & brains.

I just reread my own post and realized there is an important comma left out. I must rewrite, because the meaning of the priest comes through with the "comma," or pause in her statement.

She is commenting after placing 2nd in winning a body building competition. Someone asked her how or why does she think she won. She admits to us…the reader….that negative perceptions still held her back from speaking the truth….so she held back in her answer, but shares with us (the readers) what she really wanted to say.

    From her article,

"I wanted to say I won it for being the strongest priest in the state, for being a woman who is a priest with a really strong and healthy body. I wanted to tell them I won it for being brave, but that wasn't really true, because I hadn't been brave enough to tell the people…….(here's where the comman goes)  it would be the biggest risk to tell.  (So she simply told the interviewer) "I got it for being myself."

Yes! I saw this article in the New York Times mag. yesterday too. PLUS, in the NYTimes Mag, which was dedicated to brains & fitness, there is also an article written by a female, Episopal priest. Her name is the Rv. Dr. AMy Richter. She writes about herself and explains she competes in body building. She faces confusion and "raised eyebrows" from many others about her choices. On winning an award at a competition she writes, "….I wanted to say I won it for being the strongest priest in the state, for being a woman who is a priest with a really strong and healthy body. I wanted to tell them I won it for being brave, but that wasn't really true, because I hadn't been brave enough to tell the people it would be the biggest risk to tell. I got it for being myself."

Her words are exciting and sad to me at the same time. I understand. She should not have to hide being feminine, beautiful, strong and smart….yet many in this world have problems when a woman has all of those qualities.

    I am saving this article!
