Thanks for all the tips and the love gals, I will be taking a trip to my healthfood store to try some. I do always check anything new with my dr, so no worries there. I'm very healthy aside from that, I'm quite the anomoly. OrganicAngel, what brand juicer do you reccomend? I've been curious about them before but never bought one due to the cost and each brand says theirs is the best, of course – and at the end of the day, would a good blender do the same job?

My hubby doesn't really care much about my dancing. It's just not his cup of tea. He will watch me if I ask him to come and see a new move and he is supportive and complimentary of my efforts, but it doesn't turn him on. At first I was hurt by this, it really bothered me. I asked him to explain why he feels the way he does and was surprised by his reply. He said that he gets "turned on", by things that I would never think about, like the way I smile or some of my mannerisms that he thinks are really cute, the way the light hits my face when I'm lying outside reading a book. Bottom line – overtly sexual moves just don't get it for him – he's not 15 anymore. I was really touched by his explanation, after many years together, I never had such insight into this subject before. Every guy is different, just like us women. I have girlfriends that adore the big muscley "male stripper" beef cake types of guys, that's what gets them all hot and bothered – for me, those types of guys are not sexy. I don't want some oiled up sweaty dude trying to grind his banana hammock speedo up on me at a batchelorette party – lol. If that's what floats your boat – hey, more power to you. On the other hand, give me an Edward Cullen type and it is a different story 😉 Just for the record, I actually don't think RPat is that hot, but the way I imagined him to look like while reading the books (long before the movies came out) he was rather yummy in my mind;)

I believe it was around $50 for everything. I did invest in thier "pro light" a couple months ago which was another $40 or $50 but I love it because it takes only 45 seconds to cure each coat. So worth it. Had I been one to get my nails done every couple weeks at a salon, this kit has paid for itself already, many times over. http://search.ulta.com/nav/brand/Red%20Carpet%20Manicure/0 Look for Ulta coupons on http://www.retailmenot.com I never shop online without coupon codes. Call me coupon queen. Kobajo84 is correct, you do need the base and top coats. I tried it without and it sucked. Bought the kit last fall, I use it all the time and I am only just now running out of base coat. Product lasts a long time.

My pole studio had a “drop it low” booty bounce party tonight. It was so much FUN!!! What an awesome workout, I am ordering my DVD now!!!

I have been using the “red carpet” brand gel system from ulta. My nails are amazing, they look salon done. It’s easy and way cheaper than the salon. Lasts on me for about 2 to 3 weeks and I am tough on my nails. Also a bit cheaper than the hellish system from Sally.

Haha growing out my short hair too. I have some friends that get weaves and they look amazing. You would never know it wasn’t real but so expensive. Upwards of $500.00. My hair stylist swears by Phyto vitamins but those are about $50 per bottle. Neither one are an option for me right now. I just wish I could change my look on a whim because I adore super short pixie cuts AND long locks. If only wigs didn’t feel sooooo wiggy. A snap-on Lego hair do would work. I figured we would be like the Jetsons by now. How disappointing 😉

Oooohhh Minicoopergrl – thanks for the tip on the UD potion – I never thought of using that for my eyebrows too!!! I also use the Anastasia Brow stuff – but mine isn't a pencil, it's more like a felt tip pen. I bought the pen because of the very fine point. I'm not a good artist, so with a pencil I end up looking like Groucho Marx https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I agree with Joyful – I've recently started using Drysol which is the equivalent to Driclor – Drysol is sold in the US by prescription. It has really helped me out a lot – before the Drysol I couldn't do anything more than one spin or one sexy walk around the pole before my fingers started to sweat through the grip aids – the half fingered gloves didn't work well enough because my fingers were sweating so bad – so I know exactly what you mean. I was going to try the full fingered gloves myself, but I think I might be ok with just the Drysol – we will see if I change my mind once I get strong enough to start inverting.

Hi Tara, First I want to thank you for having the courage to post on YT, it is because of you that I discovered pole! I don't know if this will help you much, but maybe give you some hope by hearing (an abbreviated version!) of my story. I began suffering panic attacks when I turned 21. Within a year it had gotten so severe that I developed agoraphobia and I barely left my house for 2 more years. Well that was almost 20 years ago and today, I live a fairly average but mostly happy life. I don't need any medications except for a headache now and again, I have a daughter, husband, career (sales career – where I actually have to talk to people! HA HA – never thought I would accomplish that!). I learned lots of tricks along the way, that worked for me and helped me get through it. If there's anything I can help you with or if you just need to chat with someone who understands, message me, I'd be happy to help if I can. I wish I had known someone back then that could have helped me, I just thought it was hopeless and I was so alone! I didn't even know that there was a name for the disorder that so dramatically effected my life, I just thought I wasn't a strong or brave enough person. Take care young one, be sweet to yourself! xoxo

Mine too! I wonder if she knows how many people’s lives she’s touched. Anxiety can be crippling, I know all too well. Hope she is well.

Daisy Head Mayzie is a Dr. Suess book, I loved to read Dr. Seuss to my daughter when she was little. Mae is also my nick name that my mom called me since I was born. Someone called my DaisyHeadMayzie once and it just kinda stuck 🙂

PERFECT! I've been having a rough time trying to figure out how to use my foam roller effectively for my upper body.

I saw on Tumblr one day where a girl had posted a video of a very pregnant woman pole dancing. Her comment was something to the effect that this video proved that women who get "fat" during pregnancy are just lazy pieces of sh*t. I thought to myself a couple of things: A) this girl has obviously never been pregnant. B) this girl is not a pole dancer.
I've never heard anything but empowering and encouraging comments from anyone who is involved in pole dancing. Chalk it up to ignorance and/or jealousy. Ignore, ignore, ignore.

My 250lb husband climbed on my Lil Mynx to give it a test and it's still strong as ever! If you have more trouble with it, call Lil Mynx and talk to Randy. They are super friendly and helpful.

I agree w/ Chemgoddess on the music. I've only been poling for a couple of short months, but I've found out quickly that for me – music is SUPER important. Even before I started poling, my music choices have been a really important factor to having a good workout. I notice that on days where I'm tired or discouraged, a song that I can FEEL in my heart will make it or break it. Sometimes my moves feel mechanical or fake, like I'm just copying something and they aren't my own. At the studio, I can't control what music they play but at home, I've made several play lists to match all of my moods (oh so many 😉 For me, dancing is about emotion and my music has to have some kind of connection with me or it's just background noise. The emotion is what moves me – literally – lol.

I have combination skin – although I am prone to acne so my face does tend to get dry and flaky if I'm having a breakout and using more acne medication than normal, so it sounds like I'm in the same boat as you. I used to use mineral powder but it sits in my wrinkles after a few hours and by mid day I look older than I am – no thanks 😉 So with that being said, I also have SUPER sensitive skin, I'm allergic to fragrance and most sunscreens. I've used the brand Clinique since I was 12 because they cater to sensitive skins. It's a little pricey, but every time I've tried a cheaper brand like Almay or Neutrogena, I've been disappointed and at times, down right miserable with an allergic reaction. Hypo-allergenic does not mean that no one will ever react to it! Right now I'm using two Clinique liquid foundations, both are OIL FREE and fragrance free and have an spf 15 that doesn't seem to bother my senstive face. I use one for day time, it's sheer coverage called "moisture surge" – but no worries – it does not cause breakouts. The other is more coverage that I use for going out, night time, etc. or just when I want a more "made up" look. It's called "even better". Thier mineral powder is nice too, did not irritate my acne or sensitivity, just didn't like it in my wrinkles. If you don't have wrinkles then no worries!

MemberNovember 10, 2011 at 9:47 am in reply to: New gal could use some encouragementThank you soooo much ladies for your kind words. You all bring tears to my eyes – but good ones 😉 This is exactly what I needed, to hear what challenges you've all overcome and how far you've travelled from the past. You inspire me! I will keep your experiences in my mind on days when I'm not feeling strong and in a manner of speaking – your strength and beauty will help keep me going. I am amazed at how the pole has helped me not just in body, but it seems to be helping heal my soul as well. I really think it's the first thing that I've ever done for myself that is truly just for ME. Not for my hubby or my kid, just me. Had a good practice last night and today I just feel….Grace. Not sure what the proper definition of "grace" is, but in my mind that fits for me today. Can't thank you all enough – you gorgeous gals! (Go glitterhips! I'm an inked up gal myself – love it! oh this pole dancing thing is giving me lots of new inky ideas)
