@Chem, I totally understand that no one meant any ill-will and that the point was for it to be fun. And I'm glad it's fun, and that everyone can relive crazy memories! I didn't comment in order to hurt anyone's feelings–I just felt that the list was a bit problematic, and it personally bothered me. I've seen many of your posts on the site and I know that you're a kind and open-minded person.

@CreativityBySteffie: I definitely see what you're saying, but "having sex with the opposite sex" ISN'T on the list, as such. I get the impression that all the other sex acts are assumed to be done with someone of the opposite sex, and therefore that's what's "normal." I don't at all think that anyone here (or even the person who made the list) is homophobic or trying to exclude LGBT people, but as a queer person myself, the effect of this list is to make me feel a bit "othered."

Murrrr. I know this is all in good fun, but I'm not sure I feel great about there being a "fine" for having sex (etc.) with someone of the same sex. Like, I know that a lot of the others are also perfectly normal and healthy things to do (masturbating, anal sex, and so forth), but being gay isn't really remotely naughty. If having sex with someone of the same sex is on the list, then having sex with someone of the opposite sex should be on it, too!

My little brother (who will be 8 in December) climbs my pole ALL the time. He can get all the way to the top! He thinks it's the coolest thing in the world, and is very strong for his age, I'd say.

I think she's a master teacher (and maybe champion?) in South Africa. I poked around her site, but it's a little bit difficult to navigate.

Uh, this is MAGICAL. I have the sweatiest hands of anyone I know, and usually sweat through Tite Grip about halfway through a session, and ten seconds into a freestyle…but with Tite Grip on top of the (washed off) toothpaste, I had no problems at all. Holy wow.

My theory is that some kind of shoulder mount lock is involved? And therefore a significant amount of back flexibility, to get your knee solidly hooked behind the pole like that? (I'm referring to the one in the original post, not Charley's variation.) JUST SPITBALLING THOUGH.

This is absolutely just a guess, but I also wonder if there might be a cultural reason for it? Certainly, not everyone on Studio Veena comes from the same country, but most of us speak English, and Veena herself (who, as the creator of the site, sets the tone) is American. In comparison to people from some places–Japan, for example–Americans can seem very blunt, but in comparison to people from other places, Americans can seem very roundabout.

I SCREAMED when this happened (I watch the show with my dad). Eliana is a ballet dancer with the Joffrey Ballet, but I think she also did pole with Cirque de Soleil, so she knows what she's doing…though she's obviously out of practice at the moment and didn't get to do TOO much in the routine.

But OH MY GOSH, I was so excited that it was getting more mainstream! And the judges didn't say anything upsetting.

    It's pretty normal–I don't think you're doing anything wrong.

My boobs are the biggest they've ever been (because of birth control), which means they're a full 36A. As opposed to the 36AA they used to be. HURRAY. I don't love it, especially because I have a huge ribcage and broad shoulders, and thus not even a small frame to match my small boobs. But what can you do, you know? I like my legs, so I try to focus on them, and dress to emphasize them and not my boobs.

@MrsNaughtywed: I'm sure you already know of the site, and it is fairly expensive, but you could try http://www.herroom.com/ . They definitely have your size. ALSO, it is my own personal opinion that you are stunningly beautiful. You don't at all look like a high schooler.

Oh my gosh. This WILL be a challenge for me–I have literally never in my life listened to heavy metal (on purpose and willingly). I wish I had something awesome to dress up in…

I can do the hold itself, just not the part where you fall into it from standing. That's the scary part!

Amy has that tip on her blog about the Superman to cradle/Jamllla transition, and she also shows it from a hood ornament. So maybe you could do hood ornament to Jamilla to butterfly? And that frees you up to do a lot, obviously.

I just graduated from UMass Amherst and even more recently (like, two days ago) landed a job with Kaplan Test Prep as an SAT instructor. It's only part-time, though, so I shall have to look for something else as well!

Yeah, isn't it some kind of shoulder mount lock? (Not that I can even do a shoulder mount.)

@JelliCrew: Yeah, I do know that I can do challenges whenever, but for some reason I never quite want to after the month has passed. I know, it's weird.

@hookedonpole: Really? Darn, sorry, I had no idea–I must have missed that. I tried to make it clearer with the question mark, but now I can't change it! Oh well, I'm sure Veena or Webmaster can change it for me if it's a problem.

@HotelChick: Apparently I'm doing EVERYTHING wrong. I didn't see that! Was it in another thread that I missed? I tried to check the most recent few threads so I that I wouldn't be redundant.

Those are by Kobi Levi! I'm OBSESSED with his work, though I don't love those particular shoes (not because they're dirty, but because I just don't think they're very pretty). He does some awesome ones that look like birds or dogs or other crazy things, though.

Hawaii is probably TOPS on my list of places I want to visit. Can I stay with you if I come one day? I'll sleep curled up in a Drama Queen at the top of your pole if there's no other room!

That's so great! Please keep us updated, I'm sure you'll be an amazing teacher. I so wish I could bop on over to Hawaii, but….y'know…I live in Massachusetts.

  • @Kiki: HELL yes. I did a freestyle to "Now I Only Want You Gone" from Portal 2, and it's one of my favorite freestyles. I've been meaning to go back and do "Still Alive"!

  • DO. IT. That song is addictive and PERFECT for dancing to, obviously, as it's a waltz!

I can't find the video, but I'm pretty sure I saw blondebird do this move! But only because she's superhuman.
