Just got finished with day 1 and I can tell you that the leg lifts killed me!  My hips are so not flexible and these reminded me how tight they really are.  I really should video the lifts and use that as my January submission!

Your question is a really good one and there is no definitive answer.  I have been to studios that required you to be able to climb to get to the next level, I have been to studios that require an invert to be considered the next level.  There is no defined marker.  This also depends on if the studio is a "trick" studio or a "dance" studio.

Also to note, you need TALL ceilings for an XSL unless you buy a shorter B pole.

How in the world did you do that?

There was a studio in LA that had a bunch up for sale recently.  You may want to see if they have any left: https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/X_Stage_for_Sale_Los_Angeles_20121110101335

Have you looked at the strength and conditioning lessons here on the site?  You can view them for 3 days for free using the code GET3FREE.

This is not an easy answer because pole not only uses strength but also flexibility and endurance, along with plyometrics.

It is still a good idea to be sure that you are covered.  This is the reason I will only spot friends.  If you are acting in behalf of the studio then you are still a liability.

You do not seem like the type to me that is drinking lots of soda or eating crap food.  If you have soft teeth to begin I would reconsider, though.

Fluoride helps make teeth stronger by binding to calcium and making calcium fluoride.  This is also why it is such a deadly acid…at higher concentrations it will rip calcium from your bones and create huge crystals of CaF2 which cannot pass through your system.  Worse yet, it is not like other acids where you feel it as soon as you get it on your skin.  It will not start to hurt until is is already in your system.  (Um, can you tell I work with this crap and wrote our safty policy for handling it?).  This is one of the reasons why there is so much controversy regarding it.  People tend to not understand that sometimes very small amounts of something deadly can actually be extremely beneficial.

I am seriously contemplating starting the 30 day tonight.  I really NEED someone to push me.

Is there a thread started for those that are doing the 30 day yet?

AG, have you heard about the surgery for migraines?  There is a plastic surgeon here in Cleveland that found that during many eye lifts he releived migraines in his patients and now he has been approved to perform this surgery as a treatment.

As for the fluoride, it is more important during developmental stages of your teeth and also if you drink a lots of things like sodas and highly acidic juices.  More than likely your water is fluoridated unless you have a whole house purification system.

Congratulations!  There are a ton of threads on here about becoming an instructor and structuring a class (like probably 3 days worth of reading!).  I remember teaching my first class (and 2nd and 3rd, etc)…first off…don't expect perfection.  Second, BUY VEENA'S LESSONS!!!  I cannot tell you how many times they helped me out when I was struggling putting together a class.  Just relax and have fun.

Oh, and make sure either the studio has the proper insurance or at least you do.  http://insurance4poledancers.com/i4pd/

I believe this is the video.  I cannot watch from work so I am hoping it is correct.

I would suggest after getting it apart ordering the new style XJoints as the center nob is probably pushed in on this one which means it will only spin again.  I think new joints are $20.

Lina…there is a very easy fix for getting spun XJoints out so all is not lost.

AG, you KNOW I am going to rip on you.  There is no such thing as chemical free…you would cease to exist!

I have heard great things about Lush also, I have a really hard time justifying their cost though.  Although looking at their ingredeint list I would not call them all natural.  But they are minimal in their ingredients.

I have never had luck with coconut oil but I know someone who used to use coconut milk with good results.  You want the stuff in the can that is in the international food section.  You may also want to look into either henna, amla or cassia for your hair.  A treatment really changes the quality of your hair and gives it incredible shine.  I would only recommend the stuff from Henna For Hair, though.  http://www.mehandi.com/

For those of you considering logo wear, I am sure if there is an artist community near you that you should be able to find someone who does silk screening.  Even the local college art department may be able to help out.  This is just another way to keep it local, especially if the person has business cards or you advertise the person on your site.  One of my favorite shirts is a burnout hot pink racer back that I got from Pole-La-Teaz in Houston.

Google bodybuilders that have the same thing happen to them when they are prepping for a contest.  As Rune said, talk to him.  He may be feeling insecure.  He may have hangups about it.  If he understands that it is only for a short time frame he may be your biggest cheerleader.  But if you do not spell things out how does he know that he is sabotaging you?

I have been called rude and pretty much a B@@ch on numerous occasions (just about a month ago again) because I have been very blunt about people doing things incorrectly and they don't want to listen to a voice of reason.  If you come on the site and ask for advice and only listen to the advice that you want to hear then how does that help you?

So many owners think the only way they are going to keep students is by getting them upside down.  So many have no idea how to progress students or how to even condition them.  So many stop their own training once they become instructors/owners.  As Empy stated, it is sad to say that hearing things like this no longer shocks many of us who have been around for a while.

I had a friend contact me to vent about a studio in her area that is teaching inverts and superman on a 6th lesson.  Sadly places like this exist and continue to open.

Certification does not equal safety or even teaching ability.  There are quite a few certification courses out there that do not require any pole background.  So I could be new off the street, pay my couple thousand dollars, take a weekend course and be certified.  I know of "certified" instructors who are teaching inversions within the first month of pole.  And I know of "certified" instructors who have said they trained with so and so who never did.

It comes down to doing your research.  Unfortunately most will not.

It depends on what your goals are.  I know people who will jump rope or do jumping jacks or even burpees between sets.  Sometimes it is just to give your body a short recovery, or even to breathe properly and get some oxygen to the system.

When you are lifting you should choose a weight that will be difficult for you to do 10 reps of.  Once getting out 10-12 reps becomes easy you should up the weight.

There are also set up where you max weight on the first set and then continually drop the weight for the subsequent sets.

If you can pop out 20 reps of something then you really should be changing it up some way to make it harder.
