It is exactly as it sounds.  When you are in the inverted position you slide you feet to your hands and then gently release them from the pole, using your abs to control bringing your legs to the ground (no THUMP).  It is easier to do this in a tucked position as extended legs + weak abs = control from shoulders = possible injury.

    From their website:
The Flirty Girl Fitness Pole is standard 2 inch outer diameter pole. This is what we use in our Flirty Girl Fitness studios as well.

Aggghhhh….hit enter too quickly.  Work on inverting from your tip toes.  Your hips should be  in front of the pole, engage your arms, lift your knees to your chest, and then tilt back.  There should be no pushing off of the floor with your toes.

If you cannot do a controlled invert and reverse invert without heels on you should not be working on this in heels.

I will also say that I have stayed with them before and was very impressed with their accomodations. I believe there are a couple of companies that deal with temporary housing.  You may even be able to find something on Craigslist.  Lastly, look at campgrounds in the area.  Many campgrounds have cabins that are fairly nice and not too terribly expensive.

Matt finish will not stick to the pole.  Additionally thigh hi boots are horrible to pole in.  My 2 cents.

If it is the one I am thinking of, please, just save your money and buy a proper pole.  You are NOT ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going to find a safe pole that it under $200 new.  Period.

This was me to a T! I am not totally afraid of heights but I have an issue with ladders. When I started going to a studio that had tall poles I still would freak out if my head was more than 3 feet off the ground. The once thing that has gotten me past it is practice. As my confidence in my moves grew my fear has decreased. Sorry…..I know that is not a huge help.

Check out a company called Oakwood apartments. They deal in short term apartment rentals. They have locations all over the place. I would link their site but I am on my phone right now.

LilmissRe, what kind of pole do you have now?

As Corby stated, there are so many factors to take into play to be able to just come out and say this brand or that brand.

The Roxy is not just the pose on the pole but a whole set up and then going into the spin.  In this video it is the whole move from about 38-46 seconds and incorporates the elbow back hook into the hold.

Graphic design is supposed to use your creativity.

I have been in a less than fulfulling job for the last several years however in my area the job market is horrible.  So I have stayed.  However for a short time I was teaching pole (which I enjoyed but do not kid yourself that you can make money at it).  I also performed quite a few places last year which was also enjoyable and got me into costume making and developing routines; both creative outlets for me.

I know Aerial Amy just made a HUGE career/life change and wrote about it in her blog (although for the life of me I cannot seem to find it).

If you look around the forum you will see that many people have this same issue and that is why they got rid of the pad.  When I got mine I never had a pad.

They work better than the skid pad and you may find that to be true in your case also.

I want to know how you would clean something like this (either of the two).  Anyone who has ever had a silicone phone sleeve knows how nasty they get in a short time frame.

Yes, that is the issue with titanium…it is definitely more difficult to work with.  You cannot size a titanium ring like you can size gold (melting point of Ti is about 1650C, whereas gold I think is about 1064C).  But is is an extremely durable metal.

Reading and researching and am now wondering if the TG is Titanium Nitride, which makes this more of a ceramic coated type pole.

Here I have been on this forum for years stating that the poles are not coated but it looks like egg is on my face.

    Case in point:

Look at the brass and stainless pricing on this page: http://www.buyrailings.com/p-748-2-od-tubing-005-wall-thickness-508-x-12446mm.aspx

I have only been able to find one place that advertized the thickness of the walls of their stainless and brass pole kits and that was 0.05"

Now look at this site: http://www.titaniumjoe.com/index.cfm/products/tubing/

Their 2" x 0.07" titanium tubing is $4 a foot.  Even the thickest is only $9 a foot.

Titanium really is not expensive.  I was able to do a quick google search and it is pricing at significantly less than brass tubing, so I am again confused.

You can still spin.  I learned on a powder coated and LM did not even offer a spinning pole until fairly recently.

You are the first person who has ever clarified this.  Up to this point we were all led to believe that they were titanium.  So is this a titanium electroplate similar to the chrome electroplate?  I guess I am really confused now.

Anodization is not patentable; it has been around forever.  Some of you may be old enough to remember anodized aluminum cups.  Some of the colors "take" and "stay" better than others.  I think X chose the gold color because at the time they did not have a brass pole and they wanted something on the market that looked like one.  In Australia you can get a standard titanium pole, which I would LOVE to have!

Good news is that it does get better.  The advanced polers stil get bruises, trust me.

In the mean time, pick up some arnica or traumeel.  I have whacked the hell out of my shin and not bruised if I got to it with arnica soon enough.

Depending on how tall your ceilings are it will become an issue, but typically not until your have a really strong invert.  Even when you are just lerning inverts you will be fine as most people slide down quite a bit on their first inversions.  I cannot tell you how many times I have cut my foot on our sharply stuccoed ceiling!
