Check out ice skating skirts. They are short enough and flowy. You may also like some of the running skorts or cheerleading skorts. Also, once Target gets their summer stock in they have a lot of really cute bathing suit bottoms with skirts.

Aggghhhh….hit send too quickly. Anyway, if I recall they tend to hold up better than Ellies and Pleasers.

There was a girl on this site years ago who opened up a pole store who was selling Karo shoes.

Easiest way is from a cross ankle or dangerous Brian layback. All you need to do is put the hands in position and then lower yourself down.
-
There are 2 hand positions for this, both hands behind the back and then the split grip like this. I have heard lunch box, fang and broken pencil.

Cheap alternatives: couch cushions, baby mattresses, large pillows, foam tiles. I hate that crash mats are so expensive and so crap-ily made. Every one that I have ever seen had started ripping at the seams almost immediately. If you are worried about shifting pillows you can buy some velcro and attach the pillows together.

MemberJanuary 10, 2015 at 11:51 am in reply to: anybody have the mighty grip gloves and ankle grips?I got them being a pole cleaner for Midwest. I used the anklets just because I had to climb multiple times in one evening and they saved my shins. They are better for working on static holds or for using while the pole is in spin mode. I think people rip them when they try to do spins with them. Also earlier versions did not have the best stitching in the world. With these you really kind of want to go smaller with the sizing. This will keep the material tighter on your body which lessens them moving around a lot.

I would google Pantera and Natasha NW who are both polers that I know strength train like crazy. Not sure if they are technically powerlifting but they both may be able to give you some insight.

Will there be a dedicated private room for pole? This is the one thing that tends to keep people away. Most are self conscious enough and if they can see the gym people or they can see them it adds another level of uncertainty.
As for teacher training, so many don’t have it. I always brushed up with the lessons here. Veena really has some if the best instruction. The training that is most helpful is spotting techniques and quite honestly a little psychology.
I am sure you will be fabulous! -
When you adjusted the height were you sure to put the 3 adjuster screws on the flat part of the threaded section? When you are putting it into static are you aligning both screws up with the X’s and alternating tightening?
-
That is how I do mine. Butterfly and Ayesha are both with right hand low. Just starting to learn the other way around. It really all just depends on which is more comfortable and secure when you are just starting.

Oh shit, and Buffy and Faith. I know there are a few scenes of them fighting together to fight off vampires but a quick search could not find them.
-
Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in the Rush Hour movies and also the Charlie’s Angels fight scenes may be some inspiration. I was trying to think if Jason Statham had any double fight scenes but I think he mostly fights on his own. BUT, he has some AWESOME choreography.

MemberJanuary 3, 2015 at 10:40 am in reply to: HELP! Groove/Slots inside Xpole Worn DownThis will happen if the joints are not checked regularly. Basically the joint was not fully tight and there was a little bit of wiggle on this section of pole. To the best of my knowledge it is not an issue. This used to happen a lot with the old style joints.

I have never heard of this stuff and now I am intrigued…..

Have you tried lubricating the bearings? There is one at the top and one at the bottom. The bottom one is known to get gunky over time.

MemberJanuary 1, 2015 at 8:46 am in reply to: Removeable vs Portable Poles – I am very new to thisXPole XPert. Has the option of spin and static. Breaks down into several pieces that fit into a “gun case” and then the dome top. The “gun case” is about 4′ wide and easily transportable. The pieces that come standard will fit up to a 9 foot ceiling. I would suggest going to the XPole site and watching the videos. THsi is what it looks like torn down and in its case:

MemberDecember 26, 2014 at 4:24 pm in reply to: Maximizing safety or succumbing to fear?Trust me, falling out of it and hitting my head made me think twice about doing this move! I was at a club and the pole was greasy and I had a few drinks. Due to the whole picture I was limiting moves that I was doing and thought nothing at all of a wrist seat.

MemberDecember 26, 2014 at 11:27 am in reply to: Maximizing safety or succumbing to fear?Having a healthy dose of fear is still good even when you can do a move without thinking. Environmental conditions play a HUGE role in things. I have watched friends slip and fall out of moves they have been doing for years. I fell out of a wrist seat (that was awful) and just recently almost lost it on a cross knee release because my legs were sweaty.
I have a few moves that I still have not gotten past the fear of. It has not been until recently that I fully trusted someone to spot me (I am tall and have probably 30-40 lbs on most polers). There is a thin line between healthy fear and fear that keeps you from moving on. As you gain more confidence in getting out of moves I think that line gets a little blurred. It comes with time and practice.

First I am going to say: BE CAREFUL WITH THIS POLE. It does not have a great reputation. Second, I did not know that the Carmen came in anything but chrome. Are you sure of the brand? As for spinning, it really is a matter of learning how to control your grip. You can try wiping your hands with alcohol to dry them out or even try a little baby powder but I am afraid that the powder may make your hands too slippery. A good way to learn to control your grip is to do a pole hold, bend your knees as if kneeling and then slowly lower your body to the ground landing on your knees. You want this to be a smooth and controlled ride to the ground. And really, it is just practice, practice, practice.
