OK…the chemist has to chime in.  Distilled vinegar is anywhere from 4-8% acetic acid, most commonly 5%.  According to a materials site:

"Titanium is resistant to acetic acid over a wide range of concentrations and temperatures well beyond the boiling point."

The issue that you will have with the TG is how the color is achieved.  It is actually an oxidative state of titanium that has been electrically induced…think rust on your car or white dust on aluminum siding.  There are quite a few people who have had issues with the gold color wearing off and it is most likely due to natural acids in your skin.  While vinegar will not "attack" the titanium, it may very well cause the gold color to wear sooner.

Oh, typical human skin pH is about 4.5,  vinegar is around 2.5.  Vinegar is typically made from the fermentation of sugars.  This is probably the reason that many swear by using vodka to clean their poles…similar process just different concentration of air.

I wonder if diluting vodka to the same concentration would yield the same results without the acid issue?  I know you can pick up Burnett's for about $9 (and probably the cheap stuff at the grocery store for less).  80 proof is 40%, so about 2 shots in 2 cups would give you close to the same strength.  That would equal about 75 cents per 2 cups of solution.

    Ok…geek off.

  • Polefit…do you have a pic?  The only cradle that i know is this one:

  • Is cradle where you ahve your waist tucked to the pole and your body is sideways?  2 things that helped me…first, just master it as a hold, don't even throw the spin into it until you can hld yourself in that position.  Second it to bring your head to the side.  It really has to be horizontal to the floor to get you in the right positioning.

One on one instruction is extremely beneficial I think especially in the beginning but ONLY if the studio you go to is qualified.  It is always helpful to have another set of eyes and later when you are learning "tricks" a spotter.

EVamp….that is one forum "speak" that I have never really seen here.  Kinda like lulz and pwned.

    +1 to Veena.

  • My biggest issue with the Marley is grabbing my feet.  I can do it on the ground but once I am on the pole it does not happen….same issue for yogini and funky monkey.  I really think it has to do with my should inflexibility…when I am on the ground my legs are more curved where on the pole they have to be more bent.

  • Poleophile….caterpillar climb took me a really long time too.  I could caterpillar but fell out of a climb when learning it and it took me over 6 months to finally give it a go again (part of that was healing my shoulder though).  This is one move that I lose quickly if I do not continue to practice it.

E-mail webmaster.  I had this issue with my profile at first and he waved a magic wand and it all went away.

Brandi…HI from one of the Ohio clan. Val (the owner of Infinity) is on the forum. Also, March 4 a bunch of us are getting together at Last Resort up in Delaware for an evening of pole. Come join us!! If you look at their FB site you will see it under their events.

Also, Karol is going to be teaching workshops there in May. Well worth the money.

The Ohio clan gets together a few times a year….just a fun nite out.

    And Welcome!!!

  • It took me almost 6 months to get the knee hold and probably another 6 to nail it consistantly. I have walked away from moves on numerous occasions….I still cannot do a proper aysha but I have no issue with a straight edge. Split grip inverted moves are the same. I also cannot get a pretzel spin and it took me about 2 years to get a corkscrew (and it still gives me issues). Some things just click and some take a lot of practice.

Try not to be so hard on yourself….I know it is frustrating but pole is ever evolving.

Runemist…there is another thread going about Sarah that was just started a few days ago.  She is smaller than Karol.  Here is kind of a good pic.  Marlo is 5'8", not sure about Alethea.

I know that using it has helped me nail a move until I was comfortable enough.  I had 2 moves that I could never do without using something…one was knee hold (sweaty knees) and the other was iguana mount.  For some reason with me as soon as I put my head between my legs my hands would start to sweat and I could never get a proper hold.

Now I use it only when I am either not warm enough or too warm.

Sarah is not tall…she might be 5'2" at the max so this is not an optical illusion.

I think a big part of it is lack of fear.  I look at girls like Rafaela Montenaro, Becca Butcher and JK (JK defies gravity) and am just in awe.  I even have a local guy who does stuff that just blows my mind (Mattcrobat).    Another part is pure skill and training.

I know that JK put out a video but I am not sure how good it really is at teaching her spins.  I also remember there was supposed to be a video coming out of the UK that just taught cool spins like this but I am not sure if it ever came out.  I vaguely remember a promo for it but cannot remember who was producing it.

kat…I am usually too drunk off wine to think about poling.  No, seriously….I did not even know there was a pole place anywhere near by.

We almost always head up the last weekend of September to restock our wine rack.  Last year we ended up drinking at least 8 bottles while we were still in town.  Stayed at Sampson State Park and fell in love with it so that will probably be our home base in the future.  Plus it is really close to 3 Brothers Winery (fun place if you have never been).  I really want to get up there some time soon just because the wine rack is awful bare and while we can always prder and have wine shipped, visits are so much more fun!!  Plus it is only 5 hours.
