    I buy a cheap vanilla whey from Walmart (the breakdown is pretty decnt for the price) and mix it with other stuff.  Plain yogurt, flax seed and coconut oil are my bases then some of my favorite mixes:

    pineapple, blueberry, banana

    strawberry, banana, chocolate

    instant coffee, banana, peanuts

    oatmeal, banana, cinnamon, walnuts

    strawberry, fat free cream cheese, graham cracker

    I buy frozen fruit and just blend it right in.  It also helps that I have a vitamix.  Oxygen Magazine has a smoothie recipe every month.  This past month was pineapple, cherry and banana.  It was pretty yummy.

    When will you be in Columbus and Cleveland?  There are quite a few here from the CBus area and a few of us up in Cleveland.  A Veener owns Infinity Dance and Wellness in CBus and I know of a few studios here in Cleveland and Akron.  There is even a place that does silks if that is something you are interested in trying.

     

    There are quite a few here from ATL also.

    Cherished- if you point your toes outward you will feel this stretch more in the adductors which will help with middle splits also.

    In bodybuilding they say you should take in about a gram of protein for every pound you weigh, however your body can only process about 35 grams at a time, the rest is wasted (basically).  I probably take in half of that a day (as in 1 g for every 2 lbs).  In order to build and repair muscle you need protein.  I rely on shakes just because I have not found a single bar that tastes decent and is not loaded with calories and sugar.  Protein also takes longer to digest so I stay fuller longer.  I look for isolate just because you get more bang for your buck, it is lower in calories and typically very low cholesterol.

    1.  Are you taking in enough protein?

    2.  Have you taken any photos of yourself?

    3.  How is the rest of your body when it comes to tone/body fat content?

    I heard of this kid a few years ago on a bodybuilding forum.  He is no different than any chold who has a natural ability and has been pushed by their parents.  I vaguely remember reading something that if he told his dad he no l;onger wanted to do this he would stop.  They are from Romania and quite honestly much of this is just a way of life.  Think of any of the young circus kids that have been taught things like this from a very young age.  What is so different about this of the ballerinas or contortionists or even the pianists?

    Shellectra, you have to remember that getting into the splits has been a goal of mine for about 3 years now.  Some days I am closer than others.  But bad me stopped after about week 3 just because my schedule got super hectic and I missed like 4 days in a row of stretching.  I was trying to stretch after my Zumba classes because my body was very warm but my legs were so tight from all of the activity that it just really does not work for me.  There is another splits progress thread thta I started and you can see where I was originally.

    Oh, and LoneStar, only aspartame (equal) is suspected to be an excitoxin, not all sugar substitutes.  And this is not even a proven fact, only theorized by one doctor and quoted by many.  I have not seen any research done to prove this nor do I know if his research was ever peer reviewed before he published his book.

    What coconut water are you drinking??  I have yet to find one that did not make me want to gag.  It is too thick and salty for me.

     

    As for the people telling her it is bad….don't you know that everything is bad for you?

    When it all comes down and said, it has to be something that you will stick with.  I follow an 80-90% clean diet but I do not deprive myself of things like chocolate or ice cream or even alcohol.  Every night I have a cup of coffee with vanilla creamer and irish cream liquor.  I splurge on high end ice cream and have small portions.  I keep chocolate bars in the fridge.  I used to follow a high protein low carb diet but that no longer works for me.  I have to have a balance of carbs and protein and fats and sugars or I start having issues with getting sick or not having energy.  All things in moderation is what I try to stick to, along with minimizing highly processed foods.  It is what works for me and I have about an 8 pound seasonal weight shift (typically 152-155 during the winter and 145-148 during the summer).

    How are you getting into your invert?  If you are kicking in any way shape or form you will have difficulty getting yourself into proper position.  Are you considering gemini an inside or outside leg hang?

     

    As always, a video really helps.
