You can also try finding Karol's performance Bad Kitty performance at the Pole Convention.  Englann on here may have a pic in her profile, also.

I wish this was more common!  There are a few of us in Ohio that try to work together but there is still this whole animosity.  Each studio has strengths and every teacher you can learn something from.  I really wish students and studio owners understood that!

And to go one step further, an instructor from up here was going to be in SC (I think) on vacation and wanted to go to a studio wheil she was in town.  When thery found out that she was an instructor all of a sudden all of their classes were "full".

On the X joint there is a little allen screw that should stick out a little.  This fits into a groove where the sections come together.  This allen screw needs to be sticking out a little.  This *should* help with the internal rotation.

In this picture you can see the little allen…it is the one right in the middle of the X joint.  Check yours and be sure that it is out just a hair.  If it is flush that is not good.

The Lil Mynx multi piece I believe still requires you to drill the little hole in the ceiling.  It can be put up without doing this however the top is very small and will not stay in place for full spins.

PS has a multi piece stainless that is a decent pole IF, and I mean IF they have gotten their quality control issues worked out.  About 2 years ago they were having issues with the threading and also with these breaking at the seams.  With the threading issue the pole pieces woudl not sit together at all and left a gap.  The breaking issue was just that.  We had a pole break in half while someone was on it and PS was absolutely horrible about repacing the pole.  Again, this was about 2 years ago.

X Pole has a multi piece that can be changed for whatever height ceiling you have (so if you move you do not have to buy another pole).  I now have seen another issue with the X joint  flaring the pole at the joint and if you do not spread the X joint fully it can spin inside the pole which causes issues with ever taking the pole apart.  The X Joint is a newer design (the old style screwed together) and I would like to watch to see if the flaring issue is going to become a nightmare.  I will also note that hundreds of women (and men) on the forum have this pole but this seems to be a new issue.

There is nothing wrong with multi piece poles with the exception of the cheap poles that are out there.  I know that PS does not recommend theirs for studio use (unless this has changed).

The Pantera video is no longer available.  About a year ago she was selling the last several copies.  I would either try contacting her through Facebook to see if she has any more or try finding a used copy on the net.

This happened to a student at Karol's workshop in Columbus.  She was working on a brass pole and those tend to get very hot if you are doing a lot of spins.  I don't know if new skin will hold up and I can't imagine that the application would be pleasant.  I would opt for one of the large fabric bandages and if you have a first aid cabinet at work get one out of there.  The ones we have at work have the craziest adhesive.  If you do not have that option, try a regular bandage covered in electrical tape.  Electrical tape will hold up to pole (many use it on their feet when they wear away the skin climbing) and is pretty easy to get back off.  I keep a roll in my bag of tricks at all times!

Liz, you are getting your threads mixed up.  This is not the one with all of the allergy info that got rather heated.  You continue to rant about lead in X Poles and now you are stating that they are made of lead.  I find this all rather amusing especially since up to last week your profile picture was you in an X Pole tank on an X Pole.  We all understand that you had problems with X Pole but the way that you are presenting yourself makes it really hard for anyone to take you seriously.  If you had stated your problems in a constructive way instead of attacking everyone who has disagreed with you maybe your message would have gotten through.  PS has been around a long time.  They may have changed their image or their customer support in the last 2 years.  I do like their one piece poles especially how easy it is to change from spin to static.  I have had numerous issues with their poles that took way too many phone calls and way too long for them to resolve.  Customer Service in my mind is what makes or breaks a company and unfortunately PS is notorious for having poor customer service when something goes wrong with their poles.  It is also quite laughable that they sell a stage pole with it clearly written in the instructions that you should not use it with both feet off the ground.  The original Star Stand Alone was just plain poor design.

It depends on the type of ceiling you have.  Mine is heavily stuccoed (the really pointy ouchie kind) and my X has definitely taken some of that off.  If your ceiling is flat and you put the pole up properly you really shoudl not have much of an issue.  And yes, tall+short ceilings+6" heels DON'T mix!

I had a powder coated up until about 2 months ago so I know a little something about grip.  Air conditioning and pointing a fan at you while you are working out are the only 2 things I can really offer up as suggestions.  I usually had to pole early morning or later in the evening as I do not have air conditinoing.  It teaches you a little different technique which will help you in the long run.
