And do not think compact fluorescents will work just as well, they will not. You need the long tube kind. I have a 18" black light that will light up my garage if it is the only source of light.
From a Halloween lighting website:
Fluorescent Tubes
Generally speaking, the bigger the better.
– 5 inch tubes work well on objects a few inches away
– 18 inch tubes will work for a small room
– 48 inch tubes (4 foot) will illuminate objects up to 40 feet away -
As far as I know Pleaser does not have a "store" per se.
Here is a listing of stores that have been reviewed on yelp:
Lingerie San Francisco
I also know that the S Factor studio carries some really cute shoes in different brands.

come join us!!!
I would love to but will be just getting back from a week and a half camping trip. We even canceled going to a wedding in Cinci because we could not figure out logistics. Summer is SOOOOOO hectic for us….seems like every 2 weeks we have something going on from now until the end of October! -

Chem – how do I allow lactic acid build up/ how do I STOP it from building up? I know lactic acid is what causes you to cramp up when exercising but Ive never thought of it causing soreness.
Research DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). Hereis an article about what it is and how to treat it.
Lactate is produced during glucose metabolism when it does not have enough oxygen to metabolize completely. The best way to get rid of build up is through massage or foam rolling. You can buy a foam roller at Target or Walmart for about $20 and it comes with a chart or dvd showing you technique.

Hi Little Bird….glad you are still dancing and that you have found us!!
-
I know that a lot of the "pros" go for routine/weekly massages or have invested in a foam roller. If you are not eating properly, sleeping enough and allowing lactic acid buildup you are going to be fatigued.

There had BETTER be video!!!
Man I wish you all could do the live feed like they did for the guys performances in Columbus, but I also understand that there will be a lot of non-Veeners.

It was called "freestyle warmup". I don’t think you threw a single "trick", but I am still trying to figure the drunken spin to the ground that you did in it. Of course I cannot view the video here at work or I would tell you which one I am talking about.(ya know, every time I do that I hear my English teachers harping on me…sad!!)

I agree with stardust. I really don’t care what kind of song/style that is up. You know when someone is feeling what they are doing vs just putting on a show. Quite honestly that video you have of your warm up where you are dancing in yoga pants would real me in. You have such a fluidity and raw sexiness about you in that video. Plus for someone who is just beginning they can look at that and think "I could do that!!". While big tricks are impressive for those of us familiar with pole, I would think it may scare some people away, or make them come in and say "I want to learn this" even though there is no way they have the strength to do so.

Welcome!! What part of NY?

I think the biggest have been back and shoulder injuries and just plain falling off the pole. Back injuries are mostly from inverting improperly. NEVER kick up into it. There are lots of posts here about proper inverting technique. Shoulders I would say are from things like handstands, reverse grabs and twisted grip handsprings, probably things you are not going to be trying right away. I had issues with the bracket grip because I was putting too much pressure/weight on the bottom hand and ended up pulling muscles in my forearm.
Falling off the pole….ummm…sometimes it happens. That is what crash mats are for!

so sad I missed this! Did anyone videotape it? I’ve been patiently waiting for something to pop up here or on YT but haven’t found anything yet.
Tavon just added video to his FB account last night. I think there are 4 and they run about 18 minutes each. I know that Stellar has video as well as VelvetVixen but I have not seen them yet. -
What you are describing I believe is lovingly called the death grip. In time you will learn how tight or loose you need to grip the pole, and each and every pole you touch will be different. Best I can offer is patience.

It is not all that it is cracked up to be. I have a hella time trying to find jeans that I can wear with any type of heel….even trying to find jeans that are long enough is a chore! I found one style by Victoria’s Secret that I fell in love with but they stopped making them in a 36" inseam. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mad.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mad.gif And on top of that most women’s shirts are cut too short in the arms! Luckily my husband is not intimidated when I wear heels.I don’t know how Amber does it at 5’10"!!

MemberJune 21, 2010 at 7:42 pm in reply to: upper body vs. lower body proportion ratioThe ability to spin has nothing to do with body weight or proportion or even strength. It really is a physics thing with getting your hips away from the pole and concentrating on circular movement. A lot has to do with how hard you grip the pole also. There is a lot going on there that all needs to work in sync for it to execute properly.
BTW…there is nothing wrong with your height and weight.

Although that stargazer looks as though the leg is hooking forward not back. Look where she is holding her ankle.

The rest are up on Facebook. My friend Debbie also just posted a bunch. I have tagged as many people as I could so everyone should be able to see!!

There were so many cameras and videos going!!!

Some photos from last night. I did not get any during the performance because I was taping for Tavon. Oh, yeah, were RIGHT NEXT to the stage!!
