YAY! Right now I am planning on coming in on Halloween night and then staying through to the following Saturday.
Are there any (safe) bars with poles?

I get so confused with the name Gemini or Scorpio that I now call them inside leg hand or outside leg hang. People grip them in different parts of their leg but it is still the same move. Veena even uses her foot/ankle on the inside leg hang.

you may become vain or bitter,

Where did you buy your poles? The studio I go to also has Platinum Stages and has had nothing but problems (one of her poles actually broke in half….yeah, you heard me right). It took her over 4 months for customer service to do anything about it and they were rude during the entire process.

Try getting into this after you are in a full invert. This was how I learned (totally by accident)….I was just looking for a prettier way to slide down the pole when I was first learning.

Not that this is an excuse but I know that the owner of HOP just moved. I am going to forward your post to her.

MemberSeptember 23, 2010 at 3:48 pm in reply to: Chrome vs Titanium Gold Finish Problems – The scienceI used to be a huge do-it-yourselfer. If I were not in an apartment I probably would have assembled my own pole from the hardware store and got it electroplated or chrome plated. I still really want to find a shop that does electroplating and ask about the pricing lol.
Check with racing shops or shops that specialize in car mods. They usually know locals that can do it. I know that chroming is not cheap as I looked into it for my motorhome bumper.

I wear small gem type bars in my belly and have not really had an issue. I can imagine that if you have a larger setting it would get in the way. The top is 4 mm and the bottom is 6 (as opposed to the common 5/8).

MemberSeptember 23, 2010 at 12:24 pm in reply to: Chrome vs Titanium Gold Finish Problems – The scienceI have a friend who claims that the titanium x-pole irritates her skin where there’s contact – I take it this isn’t so common?
Not knowing the grade of titanium used for the X Pole this could be a possibility. ASTM recognizes several grades of titanium and as you can see many are alloys. Implants are typically grade 4.BTW:
Ti: Titanium
Al: Aluminum
V: Vanadium
Sn: Tin
Ni: Nickel (this is the one to watch for)
Mo: Molybdenum
Pd: Palladium
Zr: Zirconium
Ru: Rubidium
Cr: Chromium
Nb: Niobium
(yeah, and I did that all without looking them up….what can I say, I am a geek!)ASTM Alloy

MemberSeptember 22, 2010 at 7:59 pm in reply to: Chrome vs Titanium Gold Finish Problems – The scienceMore than likely Titanium Gold is anodized titanium. Basically an electrical current is passed through the titanium causing an oxidized finish (think chalky white aluminum siding or rust on your car). Titanium is "special" because it can be anodized to many colors based solely on the voltage of the current passed through it. This however is a coating and will essentially wear itself off. The finish under should be a steel like color.
The many colors of titanium:

It is also ridiculously strong and very lightweight.
Now my mind is going off in different directions…how cool would it be to have a rainbow titanium pole? Or green? Check out the possibilities!!!

Check craigslist or searchtempest. There is a guy in my area that goes into old retail stores and sells the mirrors from stores dirt cheap. Also I believe that many here have gotten mirrors from Ikea.
Hovet Mirror
You can also look for the mirrored sliding closet doors. Do you have a Habitat for Humanuity ReStore near you??

There is a big jam scheduled in Detroit on Sunday October 10 and for some reason I think there is one this weekend in Chicago Heights (I can’t seem to find the info though).
-
Thanks a lot……
yet another pair to add to my want collection.

Spinny is harder for me, one because I have a hard time controlling the amount of spin and two because trying to hold a static pose longer takes a lot of effort, especially when physics is trying to take over and fling you from the pole! And unless you are competing, 95% of the time you go to a bar they are going to have a static pole.
-
Unless you can prove this then there is nothing you can do.
Why does she think she was sold a second hand pole?

I believe that Amyxshi teaches at Shockra and I would also look into NY Pole Dancing lessons with Wendy Traskos.
Karol Helms just opened up shop in Charlotte NC…Polefit Carolinas I think is the name.
Bunch of places around DC that I have no clue about.
-
Welcome! You just missed a big jam back in August!
-
It depends on the competition. I have seen shoes on and off. Most of what I see are some sort of embellished bikinis or bra/panty sets. I would think it also would depend on your music with your outfit matching the music.

Just try to reassure him that his is the #1 pole in your life……
