I think this is really going to depend on your flexibility. If you can do a straddle stretch (on the ground legs splayed and head/body down to the floor) and get your chest on the floor between your legs then you can probably do a SM with a straighter back. If you are like me who has limited flexibility in that stretch then I am going to roll myself up to get into SM. I would think that rolling is safer for your back, at least that is what I have learned in all of the exercise classes I have been in.

Sally Beauty has really nice products and are a fraction of the cost of the high end stuff. I know that their finger paints line is comparable to OPI. Also I LOVE their Never Chip if/when I paint my nails. The stuff really does make my polish last a long time.

I bought an Ion straightener from them a few months back and swear by it.

Their Sally card is only $5 a year and gets you discounts on all of their products, plus I am constantly getting coupons from them.

Products that I love from Sally:
Pretty much the entire line of Beyond the Zone. I have not tried anything in this line that I was unhappy with. Oh, Sally’s also has a great money back guarantee.
    Finger Paints nail polish
    Never Chip
    Ion hair color

I have also had luck with a lot of the Rimmel line.

I swear by Revlon’s ColorStay Overtime lipcolor…the stuff stays and stays and stays.

Best advice I can give though is to never sleep with makeup on, get at least 7 hours of sleep a night and eat properly. I am 41, tan regularly, have smoked and don’t have a single wrinkle. Yes, I have good genes but on top of that I always have taken my makeup off and moisturized my face since I started wearing makeup (in my teens).

Watch Amyxshi and any S Factor videos that you can find (Sheila Kelly). Also check out Yannori. One thing that S is really great for is floor work and oozing sexiness. You can typically find the book at the library.

It really depends on what specifically you are looking for. Most of the really nice photos you see are done by a professional or by someone who has taken photography classes and understands proper lighting and angles.

Momma…some of my favorite pole shorts are either the Gilligan O’Malley Seemless Boyshorts from Target ($9.99/2 pair)
    https://www.studioveena.comhttp&#58://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41RdqK9T87L._AA400_.jpg

or the Hanes Boyshorts (though I have been having problems finding these lately).

Target has different color ones depending on the season but beware of the lighter color ones as they are kinda see through.

I just saw these at Kohl’s, too, and might have to investigate. They are Warner’s No Pinching No Problem Boyshorts:

Try putting a humidifier in your pole space Momma. The only pole that would probably work are one of the acrylic poles but they have their own set of issues.

I can’t find the link but I know it is on this site somewhere!!

Awesome! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Mine is a hair question.. How do you make these kind of curls?

    http://girls-fashions.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/hairstyle-ideas-for-curly-hair.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have really long & thick hair, so if it’s a certain cut that works better for these curls, then that’s doable. But when i curl my hair, it always looks bad. (Even if I wrap the hair around the barrel to curl it, like as if I was using one of those clipless curling irons)

I bought curlers at Sally Beauty that will give this type of curl called CurlFormers. The only bad thing is that they take a while longer than I am used to to get a curl and are really meant to be left in over night.

I also know that think hair is not the ideal hair for this look. When I curl my hair it gets REALLY poofy because there is so much of it.

Check out some of the you tube videos on the curlformers.

Naw…it is pretty much anywhere your body hits the pole. It is frustrating when you know you can do a gemini/scorpio or hip hold and when you try you slide to the ground.

I can quite honestly say that it has taken me over 6 months to be comfortable with this move and to be able to nail it even with sweaty legs.

I cannot tell on your bottom leg but it does not look like you are locking at the ankles at all. I know that this can be done without locking too so I don’t think that is the problem. It is probably just more of getting used to the pain and getting comfortable holding it for periods of time.

As much as I wish that pole was as popular when I was younger I don’t want to be younger in this age and day.

I routinely get "I hope I look as good as you when I am your age" along with many not believing I am in my 40’s. Pole keeps you young!!

This page on the X-Pole UK site says it won’t be available until spring:

    http://www.x-pole.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=22&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=129&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=89&vmcchk=1&Itemid=89" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I’d imagine that the UK would have it available before the US, so… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

    That was Spring 2010.

With Pleasers if they are boot style or closed toe I have to get a 10 and they are a bit big on me. For sandal styles I go with a 9. I typically wear a 9.5. I also have had issues with Ellie running too wide, and I have wide feet! I think the Ellie boots that I have (well, technically Penthouse) I bought as 9’s and they are perfect!

What really helped me was doing reverse decline crunches. Basically on an inclined ab bench sit backwards. I would use the pads that you are supposed to wrap your feet under to grab on and then do reverse crunches and then bring my legs over my head. Yoga plows are really good for this too.

    reverse decline crunches

At the end actually bring your hips into the air.

I am 41 and have bounced through the same sizes as Veruca. I have been 25 lbs heavier than I am now and was even 15 lbs heavier the beginning of this year. What she posted years ago on the other forum is just as true today. I am going into year 3 of poling and there are still so many things that I can’t do nor probably ever will be able to do, but I am constantly amazed at the things that I have gotten this body TO DO. I will never be as good as any of the people who are competing but it does not matter to me. This past weekend at a party I was able to pole and the look on my hubby’s face when I was done almost put tears in my eyes. Those few moments when you are lost to the world and it is just you, the pole and the music…THAT is what continually draws me to pole and to push myself.

The tail spin is similar however BOTH hands are above the pole.
