Yeah, I know what a lunge is but again I was having issues with the calf and the instep on the floor. I am bound and determined to get these this year. It has only been my resolution for the last 3 years!!!
-
Help! Why does this not make sense to me??
All you have to do is position yourself in a deep lunge with your front foot pointing straight a head, your front leg bent at 90 degrees at the knee and the foot of your back leg should be pointing directly behind you with the instep facing the ground and your calf flat on the floor.
How in the world do you get your calf on the ground in a lunge??

Also I am unable to change my location and have it save. I have done this 3 times, clicked save on the bottom of my profile, and it still is not showing.
-
I figured that but why can I not change it? I have even deleted the caveman photo from my profile but it is still showing up. I have uploaded a different pic twice now and had to delete one. I even changed it from "friends only" to "everyone" and still nothing.

byrdgrrl, look at the links I provided for the Clean Eating book, website and also Oxygen Magazine. You can pick up the book dirt cheap on Amazon or even get it from the library.

Easy….we just need to get together and play!

There is a thread on here about splits. Many have had luck with Splits in 6 weeks. Google it or look up the splits progress thread.

Work your body!!!
Seriously….play with your hair, feel your legs, play with your shirt/shorts. Just touch yourself suggestively (but not lewdly).

There is a thread going currently on Clean Eating. I seriously recommend it!

Cherry…those cookies are deadly! I also made the ice cream sandwich ones without the ice cream. Instead of whole wheat pastry flour I ground up oatmeal and used that as a flour and I also used natty peanut butter instead of almond butter (easier to find).
NGREDIENTS:
VANILLA FROZEN YOGURT
1 1/2 cups strained low-fat plain yogurt
1/4 cup agave nectar
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
CHOCOLATE-SPIKED OATMEAL COOKIESOlive oil cooking spray
1 1/4 cup quick-cook old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup whole-wheat pastry flour
2 tsp flaxseed meal
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 cup agave nectar
1 large egg white
2 tsp unsalted almond butter
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/4 cup dark bittersweet chocolate chips (about 40 grams)
CE "ICE CREAM" SANDWICHES1 recipe Vanilla Frozen Yogurt (see above)
1 recipe Chocolate-Spiked Oatmeal Cookies (see above)
INSTRUCTIONS:
YOGURT
In a mixing bowl, combine strained yogurt, agave and vanilla. Stir until well blended, then spoon mixture into a shallow 9 x 9-inch non-reactive freezer-safe container.
Transfer container to freezer and chill until mixture is starting to freeze slightly around the edges, about 45 minutes. Scrape ice crystals from edges with a spatula and mix thoroughly back into yogurt mixture. Continue to blend until creamy again, about 2 minutes. Return container to freezer and repeat this process 2 more times, for a total of 3 times. Each time the mixture will get thicker and a little harder to blend. After the third mixing, return container to freezer until ready to eat, about 2 to 3 hours. For best results, store tightly sealed in freezer and use within 2 to 3 days.
CHOCOLATE-SPIKED OATMEAL COOKIESPreheat oven to 350°F and lightly spray 2 baking sheets with cooking spray
In a large mixing bowl, combine oats, flour, flaxseed meal, cinnamon, baking powder and salt.
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together agave, egg white, almond butter and vanilla.
Add egg mixture to dry ingredients all at once and combine. Stir in chocolate chips.
Divide batter equally into 16 mounds (about 1 rounded tbsp in size) and arrange evenly spaced on prepared baking sheets. Using the back of a slightly dampened spoon, flatten each mound into 2½-inch circles. Bake 9 to 10 minutes, until golden. Cool on sheets for an additional 10 minutes before transferring to racks to cool completely. Stored in an airtight container, cookies will keep fresh for 2 to 3 days.
CE "ICE CREAM" SANDWICHESTo assemble sandwiches, spoon 3 tbsp frozen yogurt between 2 cookies. If yogurt is too hard to scoop, allow it to warm slightly for a few minutes on counter until desired consistency. Repeat for remaining cookies. Eat immediately or transfer to freezer-safe container and store in freezer until ready to eat. For best results, eat within 2 to 3 hours of filling cookies.

I cannot do it but "taught" my instructor how to do it. You HAVE to be on spin mode and should have a really really really strong straight edge https://www.studioveena.comhttp:://www.triagedesign.co.uk/wikipole/images/thumb/e/e3/Straightedge.jpg/200px-Straightedge.jpg
She does it with forearm grip because it is easier to grip the pole but if you are more secure with elbow you can do it that way too but that kinda freaks me if you lose your hold. Your straight edge has to be more to the side (not looking at the pole).

You can get pretty much all of the Clean Eating books by Tosca Reno at the library. The one I linked in my original post will give you the basics and a few recipes and then there are at least 3 other cookbooks. You may be put on a waiting list though because they are hugely popular.
The Oxygen Magazine website is wonderful when it comes to fitness and eating clean and the Clean Eating Magazine website is also full of recipes.
I seriously love Tosca.
Little C, you should really check out some of the clean eating desserts, although I have a problem stopping sometimes. One of my latest kicks is melted dark chocolate and fat free ricotta cheese…..reminds me of cannoli!!!

Welcome Sasha! There is a group of us "Ohioans" that tries to get together every few months (The Ohio Clan). There are a few in Cinci/Dayton, a few in Columbus and I am up in Cleveland. What parts are you from?
Also, there is a get together planned for the beginning of February in C-Bus and also possibly the first weekend in March (for The Arnold).
Welcome Welcome!!
Oh, PS…we are a bit of a crazy group. Just felt the need to add that disclaimer! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_jokercolor.gif

It took me forever to feel secure enough to attempt an aysha and then one day it just happened. So much of this is not only upper body strength but core and finding balance.

Once I get in to superman I can hang out all day, it was getting into it that killed until I learned how not to rip my thighs open. Knee hold was another. It took me over 6 months to get past that pain. It does go away…not sure if it is technique or tolerance or a combination of both but it does go away.

The one thing with the heating pads was trying to keep them on the pole and I imagine that a heating blanket would be the same. I used bungies.
As for the cables, you are going to run into the same type of problem.

Momma….you are partially right.
Eat Clean Diet. It is eating things that are processed as little as possible (there is no stipulation on frozen). There are lots of beef and chicken recipes along with fish and vegetarian. I am not 100% clean but probably about 85-90%. The only time in my life that I almost completely lost my pooch when when I was eating 95% clean for a few months.
I will say that cravings for bad stuff are minimal and for the most part fast food turns my stomach. The only part I really do not follow 100% is the alcohol thing. I am not a big drinker but I do like to go out and have a few drinks or even a glass or two of wine at home. (and after a night out I usually crave fast food https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif )
Some of the recipes are really good, others are just so so. I also get the Clean Eating magazine that comes out every other month and I have made some amazing things out of it.
(And Momma…you should have known I would know something about this)

judy don’t worry about it. catty people beget drama and then they end up drowning in it. if its true that these are reviews from a rival studio… well, if they are catty towards other people, they are definitely fostering that in their own studio and breeding it within their students and it will end up undermining their own business more then they could ever realize.
Truer words never spoken.
What disturbs me is those that follow so blindly that they will not even seek things out themselves (although this is rampant in life in general). I can understand if someone has an issue with another studio and openly states this issue, but to have others dis on a studio just because so and so told me it was bad is just garbage. There are strengths and weakness to ALL businesses and we can all learn something from each other.

MemberDecember 22, 2010 at 8:38 pm in reply to: I remember when….a (hopefully) inspirational threadI remember the first time I saw a caterpillar climb and thought that was the absolute coolest thing I had ever seen in my life and I for the life of me could not see how ANYONE could do it. Then I finally started working on it and could not get more than one scootch up. Then I remember being so excited when I got two, then 3 ….and then I fell out of it. I did not think I was ever going to be able to get it again out of fear.
Forget about forearm grip or elbow grip (split grip is still elusive)
I also remember my first super SM invert
I never thought I would get the superman because my thighs kept getting in the way
Knee hold?? Are you serious…it hurts WAYYYYY too much. Then I had issues with sweaty knees and it, now I can pretty much nail it every single time AND bend my body toward the floor!
