If you are going for ice cream Jeni's is the only option.  I would also highly recommend Pistacia Vera in Germantown if you want something amazing.

Veena actually used to do this quite a while back.  I remember seeing an interview with Amber (before she was the Amber we all know) and also I think with Joel.  Don't remember who else she had interviewed.

I have reached out to pretty much all of the instructors in the NE Ohio area.  A lot of instructors just do not take the time to pole for themselves.  They in turn have referred/brought students.  There used to be a bar we would try to go to on a weeknight…sometimes there would be a few of us, sometimes more.  We have also gone to each others houses or sometimes the studio.  I have a standing open pole on Monday nights at one of the studios and I have the keys to the place so I lock up when we are done.  One of the other studios has a monthly jam.  I have also reached out to pretty much every NE Ohio person on this board and invited them into the Ohio Peace and Pole and also the NE Ohio Pole group on facebook.  You may want to see if there is an Arizona Peace and Pole and reach out to people on that.

As for looking for people with the same abilities, that will be difficult.  Everyone progresses differently.  Some times it is just nice to have a spotter for that crazy move you want to try.

    Abstract

Raspberry ketone (4-(4-hydroxyphenyl) butan-2-one; RK) is a major aromatic compound of red raspberry (Rubus idaeus). The structure of RK is similar to the structures of capsaicin and synephrine, compounds known to exert anti-obese actions and alter the lipid metabolism. The present study was performed to clarify whether RK helps prevent obesity and activate lipid metabolism in rodents. To test the effect on obesity, our group designed the following in vivo experiments: 1) mice were fed a high-fat diet including 0.5, 1, or 2% of RK for 10 weeks; 2) mice were given a high-fat diet for 6 weeks and subsequently fed the same high-fat diet containing 1% RK for the next 5 weeks. RK prevented the high-fat-diet-induced elevations in body weight and the weights of the liver and visceral adipose tissues (epididymal, retroperitoneal, and mesenteric). RK also decreased these weights and hepatic triacylglycerol content after they had been increased by a high-fat diet. RK significantly increased norepinephrine-induced lipolysis associated with the translocation of hormone-sensitive lipase from the cytosol to lipid droplets in rat epididymal fat cells. In conclusion, RK prevents and improves obesity and fatty liver. These effects appear to stem from the action of RK in altering the lipid metabolism, or more specifically, in increasing norepinephrine-induced lipolysis in white adipocytes.

I just realized that I never linked the study….duh.  Atrophex in general, not just the raspberry ketones.  It has a blend of "mood and mental optimizers".  http://www.bsnonline.net/details/atrophex.html

I am on a really really really slow internet connection at a campground so I can't even find the link right now.  I will try when we get back home.

This was the study from back in 2005 that prompted a possibiliry.  Back in 2005 ephedrine was still available so it was not that big of a deal.  Seeing as ECl is not easily available in the states and that the FDA is going after those that have geranamine (1,3 dimethylamylamine), RK is gaining in popularity again.

I will say that I get raspberry burps (similar to fish oil burps but much more pleasant).  Also, as a TMI, there was a company that had made a lube that was silicone and RK's that was amazing.  They sold it as a lube and as a massage oil.  As a topical it brings more blood to the surface making those areas much more sensitive.  I will just leave it there.

For about 2 years they were hard to come by but it looks as if there are lots of sources now.

I have taken both.  I currently have Svetol from Swanson vitamins but I do not feel and have not seen any appreciable anything from it.  I have a girlfriend who is very sensitive to caffeine who can only take a small amount and it has kept her lean when she was going through a lot of stress (she is low BF to start).  Also, Starbucks now has their "Refreshers" drinks that have it.  It is supposed to be a great antioxidant, too.

I have also taken raspberry ketones but mixed with other fat loss agents.  It has been around for quite some time and I am kind of proud to say that I know some of the guys that broke this into the supplement industry.  It had been around for at least 5 years, if not longer.  BSN Atrophex contains it and that is my going out pill.  About 30 minutes after taking it I can actually feel a total sense of happiness come over me.  It is weird but I can seriously feel when it kicks in.  It makes me much more socialable and dampens the effect of alcohol on me.  I have not tried it for weight loss….wait, maybe I did but about 10 days in I started getting ansy.

I can try and dig up some information about them.

There was someone looking for it earlier this year also.  There are so few copies that actually got sent that I think you are going to have a really really really hard time finding one.

There has been one comp that did audience voting, USPDF that had online voting for the last contestant and one of the big comps always has a fans choice that is also done by online voting.  In each and every case it comes down to a populatiry contest, and the comp was ripped apart.  On top of this the software that would be necessary to do an audience participation type vote is peobably not cheap and I still have not found a single comp that has all sorts of extra money to spend.

Kind of a case in point…..Cedar Point just had a dance competition about a month ago.  There was a number to text your vote.  Not only did I get texted to vote by a friend who was competing but it was posted all over facebook.  You did not even have to be IN THE AUDIENCE to vote.  Now think of how many friends someone like Aerial Amy has on FB, and thus in her phone contacts.  How easy would it be to send a mass text to every one of her contacts?  (Amy, I am using you just as an example, not that you would actually do something like this).

She reminds me very much of Jenyne also.  I think it is that cute girl next door look about both of them, and they have a very similar stage presence.

They do also sell inversion tables and you can use them for 10-20 minutes but you are just laying there, not exerting yourself.

The article that I quoted was written after David Blaine did his stunt of hanging upside down for 3 days.  HOWEVER, he took upright breaks every hour (where they did a medical check and he was allowed to stretch) and was also in a rigging that allowed him to remove one leg so that he could get his head horizontal (which he did about every 20 minutes), so I am not sure if he was really upside down for that long.  But this is also the man who sat in an ice bath for a few days and also lived in a glass box for like a month.
