MemberSeptember 17, 2012 at 7:37 pm in reply to: Is it better to leave pole up or take it down often?A pole should be taken down and checked at minimum once a month (not every one does this). You will probably strip a few screws in your first few months just as a learning curve but besides that I do not think you have to worry about set up/take down damaging your pole. Just make sure it is secure and level each time.

The second I did not realize was even a "move" as it is the start of a twisted grip lift. Maybe a twisted grip stall?

Sorry, spoke too soon. It was approved but for some reason did not make it. Not exactly sure why.

Add Ohio to that list!

"Chem, they actually stopped selling any marijuana products to tourists in the Netherlands."
But the coffee shops are not really abiding by it. That is like them banning smoking in bars in many cities but bars have found ways around it.

And I am going to add my typical disclaimer: I am not trying to be a wench here. I do know that when I start talking all analytically it causes issues. This is what i do for a living. My world is facts and numbers and data and analyzing that data to find the flaws. I am also very interested in people's response to heated issues. Are your views based on something that happened in your life or are they based on something someone told you over and over so you believe it to be fact? If you have opposing data I would love to read it. I am a knowldge junkie through and through and if my beliefs are incorrect I want to learn why and what backs up that untruth. So please do not be offended by my banterings and questions.

I have been to The Netherlands and the way that it is handled there is quite remarkable. They do have a few issues, however the plant is tested and graded and actually sold based on the type of buzz you will get (THC/CBD/CBN content). They also have an agency that will test any street drug that you purchase anonymously to be sure of its purity (at least they used to). The natives are not who they have issues with; it is all of the tourists that come over and get drunk and high and crazy. This is the same thing with alcohol in foreign countries; it is not a big deal to have a drink with dinner when you are young so there is less of the problems that we see as kids turn 21 or go off to college. It is always the wanting to do things that are taboo. And think of it, how many of you like pole because of the taboo?

It is also the pharmaceutial industry that is trying to shut down the legalization of cannabis in the US. They will lose billions of dollars. It is the same reason they have been going after the supplement manufacturers. Again, I know quite a few in the supplement industry who have been raided and sent warning letters because X company was running clinicals and was about to get approval from the FDA for an extract of things that have been available OTC for years. Red Yeast Rice is what was studied to develop statins that are high dollar cholesterol drugs. Manufacturers are no longer allowed to state that RYR contains statins or can help naturally reduce cholesterol even though it has been around for centuries. Pharma was trying to shut down the ability to buy fish oil capsules because there is a prescription drug that has purified it and is on the market. This happened with vitamin B6 in 2009. Some company saw how great it worked for diabetes and kidney failure, along a list of other things, purified it and sent it to clinicals. Now any company that was selling B6 cannot it will be classified as an adulterated drug and every single supplement company that sold it was sent a warning letter. I read stories like this each and every day. I used to work in pharma and probably will be again in the very near future. If you have money the FDA can be bought. It is sickening but it is true.
I ask those who are so against it, are you against it because that is the way you were raised or do you have experience with someone in your life that it has harmed? Ther are so many other things on the market that we eat and drink on a daily basis that are so much worse for our bodies. Caffeine is a HUGE one but we don't even consider it as harmful. How many of you have ever stopped drinking coffee/tea/pop that contains caffeine. Lets talk about the withdrawls. Cigarettes anyone? MJ has been around just as long if not longer and the reaction that is stimulated in our bodies from nicotine is much greater than that which is created from marijuana.
But I digress once again with scientific mumblings…..

MemberSeptember 17, 2012 at 8:25 am in reply to: Economic crisis – would you pole dance for a living?I know quite a few dancers who are not large chested who make decent money. Not every man is into plastic boobs and I have been quite surprised to see a trend lately to more natural. Of course you are still going to get those men who want big fake titties in their face but as someone else said, every man has a different kink which is why the successful clubs will hire all sizes, shapes and ages.

Persian, do you by chance have the full study? That abstract really says nothing. Being a researcher I really like to look at what they measured, how they measured it and the statistical analysis that they used to come up with their conclusion. So much lies in the numbers. And I would really like to compare that study to say one that looks at energy drink consumption by teens.
That being said, I know a few people that actually are involved in OMCA and getting it on the ballot here in Ohio. I think many would be extremely surprised at the people who smoke regularly….it is just not well known. There have been more studies about MJ use and its effects; there is probably more research about each of its constituents then there are for the majority of pain medications that are currently on the market. There is even a pharma company that is currently trying to get one of the chemicals approved as drug so that they can totally shut down medical marijuana. Some of the stuff I read utterly shocks me. That being said, if I was in constant pain or had some of the other diseases that cannabis has been proven to help I would MUCH prefer something organic and natural over any drug that could be prescribed to me.
Do you have any idea how many people are in prison due to possession? How much money is spent fighting cannabis? Do you have any idea how much money could be brought in by legalizing and taxing cannabis? Do you have any idea how many people are addicted to pain medications? Did you know that the FDA is currently considering new pain meds that are stronger and consequently more addicting that what is on the market right now?
The LD50 of THC is 1270 mg/kg: this is 104 POUNDS of THC for a 180 lb male to cause death in half of the subjects. (BTW, the average joint conatins about 10 mg of THC). The toxicity of this plant is so low that the possibility of overdose is extremely low (you would have to smoke 10,287 joints in a short time frame to be at the LD50). The pros on this FAR outweight the cons.
I am with the people who said they would rather be around people who smoke than people who drink.

practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice
That is probably the best advice that I can give. Landing is getting used to having additional weight and distance on your feet. Coming out of an invert of any sort comes down to control….if you are letting gravity bring you down you need to learn to fight gravity so you don't have a huge clunk on the floor. Dragging toes makes your walk look slinky. Cliumbing is going to rely more on knee grip than top of foot. As I started, practice. You will find there are little things that you need to do different due to the extra weight or shoe style but the only way to figure that out is to practice.

MemberSeptember 15, 2012 at 7:41 pm in reply to: Economic crisis – would you pole dance for a living?Robyn….you have stated pretty much what every girl I know that dances has stated. You are NOT going to make money on the pole. At least that is the way it is here in Cleveland. You make money on lap dances and so many girls do stuff on the side. It takes a lot to not get down on yourself because sos and so makes more money just because she has bigger boobs or a nicer butt.
