There is also going to be a telecast and voting for some of the performances. This was posted a little while back as they had online voting for those that did not make the initial cut (i think they had a few open slots that they set aside for this). Rebecca Starr and Molly Murcia (aka Lyralicious) are performing as well as Mattcrobat, Luis and Swift Ali from NE Ohio. There are some BIG names in this comp!!

7'4" is not really tall anough for inverts especially if you plan on ever wearing heels.

I heard that she is an AWESOME teacher! She may be coming back to Ohio during the winter aan I am so clearing my schedule to take a class with her!

It is not as harsh as trying to bleach the color out. Usually I would use that and then use the ion 3 step damage repair. Then I would use the protein filler after I dyed my hair. I don’t know how light you are going but I would also look into a packet of cassia from henna for hair. It will make your hair shine (but call and make sure it won’t impart too much yellow).

Or you can buy a shorter extension for the B section. They are only about $30.
-
As long as you don’t go where there are lots of kids with uptight parents you should not have issues. You can also cut B pole down….and muffler shop or machine shop can do it for you. There just a cap on the top that is easily removed.

I had a Lil Mynx pink pole (non rotating) and will tell you that anything over 8' is non usable (unless you get a custom pole). The way that the pole adjusts is a sleeve inside that extends or retracts. This is also the part that you compress to install the pole. You cannot grab this section at all plus it is not flush with the rest of the pole. I loved my mynx but I will also warn that the powder coated gets extremely sticky if there is any humidity and I mean skin ripping sticky. I now have an X.
NO pole is perfect. You have to do your homework and find what is right for you and your application.

I will have to look at mine more closely when I get home. I just remember there being an o-ring. Mine is nearly impossible to unscrew so I know there is no way I can do it when I am spinning.
-
Mine has an O ring at the very top of the threads. If yours does not, it should. This is probably the reason it is unscrewing so easily for you. Call X Pole!
-
Have you contacted X Pole? It sounds to me like you may just need to replace the O Ring.

MemberJuly 27, 2011 at 11:17 am in reply to: OMG SHOES! Buy Shoes!! Groupon for today!!!Very few moves use your shins (think about it). The only issue I have ever had with my boots is very interesting bruising from the little eyelets digging in when I climb.
-
Also (and I speak from experience) even the thin foam mats are not good with shoes. I have caught the heel and twisted my ankle on a few occasions. But then of course, I have done the same thing barefoot and jammed the dickens out of my toe!

Miraine, in both of your inverts I do not see a pelvic tilt toward the pole and I see you relying on grabbing the pole with your foot.
Empy, if I recall you have rather inflexible hamstrings also. A SM from the floor for me really requires me getting into an inverted saddle stretch which I have extremely limited range on (hence I have issues with this). I think this is one of the reasons that for me straight edge type moves also come easier than aysha type moves. I have given up completely on a bum slide dismount and also lifting into a head or handstand because of my hammies. I can however lift into iguana mount….but that is more arms and abs than flexibility.

I just remember Chicago last year and meeting a bunch of my "pole celebrities" in a 24 hour time span.

What you are looking for does not exist. Heels do not work with crash mats.
If you are just looking to use it as a safety net, use your couch cushions. There is kind of heated debate going on about thickness and if you shoudl or should not use them. Some say it builds a false sense of security. Jennifer from Pole Skivvies has some info in her blog:

And you can boast that you were tied up by one of the "celebrities".

Lil Mynx has a hot pink pole. A bar owner I know bought a length of stainless from a custom car shop and used that as a pole. You could probably easily get that painted at an autobody shop. Powdercoating would be better but you might need a lower grade of steel in order to powder coat. Not sure if stainless would hold it.

You should NOT be using your legs to pull yourself up into an invert at all!! If you are inverting without being able to do the tuck STOP!!! You will end up hurting yourself! Go through all of teh inverting threads and blogs. Read about what people have done to their shoulders and backs from not inverting properly. I am not being a biotch here, I am trying to keep you from an injury that will take months to heal and will never go away.
Start working on the tuck…hold your hands in baseball grip and pull your knees to your chest and then lower them….SLOWLY AND CONTROLLED. Once you have that, bring the tilt of the hips into the equation.

Michelle is GORGEOUS….I could get lost in her Come F Me eyes for days!
I am always facinated with people's lives and how they have changed and also how they handle being away from home. Things that I could not do are always interesting to me to try to understand how they get through. I have met a few celebrities but have gotten pictures with few. I would much rather sit around and have a drink with them then get my picture taken.

Did the contest state what they deemed professional and what they deemed amateur?

The old style PS stage was basically a box with a pole stuck through it. In order to not make it walk you had to put weights or sand bags in the bottom. On top of that, the pole height was maybe a little over 6'….horrible if you are tall and wearing heels! There is only one otehr company that I know of that makes a stage and that is R Pole out of the UK but you are looking at a ridiculous price.

This position is kind of difficult for me because of my lack of flexibility in my shoulders. I can get into the position but I REALLY have to concentrate. Empy helped me a bit on this and she said that you really need to bring your upper body lower than you would think. Sticking your butt out would really help with this!

Speaking as a consumer I have tried my best to get out to every studio within an hours drive from me. I usually like to go out when they are first opening to welcome them and get a feel for their studio. I camp all over the place during the summer and you never know where the hubs and I will end up on the weekends during the winter. I think it is important to know who and what is around you, first hand (not hearsay) so that when people see you pole you can let them know where they can learn this awesome sport. As an instructor I think this has made me better because I have seen a bunch of different styles of teaching so I know what I like and what I don't.
