I will also add that the iguana mount was the only move that I have learned that made my hands sweat!  For some reason as soon as I got into that position the well started.  I relied on gloves and grip aid and cannot tell you how many times I slid to the floor.  I practiced the hold part of this out of a release and also bow and arrow before I ever tried the mount.

I can iguana lift using the technique that Amy states as I have limited shoulder and hamstring flexibility.  Pantera really helped me with this one….basically I go over, lock the hands in place and then use my upper body to lift my toes just off the ground.  At this point I concentrated on bringing my hips to the pole and then lifting my legs.

I have JUST been able to do a head stand lift on the wall (this is after 2-3 years of trying to get this) but shoulder stand and handstand lifts are not coming any time soon.

Veena has performed at a few of the Detroit showcases and I believe at a few pole studios (and taught workshops).

I am a big believer in eating "clean".  You can get Tosca's books at pretty much any library and learn the basics.  I have a subscription to both Clean Eating and Oxygen and there are always new and yummy recipes along with workouts and all sorts of info.  I do know that I feel and look better when I get rid of processed foods but I am no way strict with this.

I wear a 9.5 but typically will buy a 9 unless it is boots.  I have also used the little pads that go at the ball of your feet when they start tio get stretched out.  I bought some at a dance store that have just a little padding and have a sticky pad.  I have not had a lot of luck with the gel ones that just sit in the shoe as I can never get them to sit just right.

Ok, gotta chime in here.  I have not gotten them from inverting but I have from trying to be "quiet" during certain acts involving my husband.  They will go away!

I just saw this posted on facebook yesterday.  Phoenix taught the move to a bunch of girls up at I think Studio 409.

Not sure if you will be able to see this:

It is very similar to a figure head but your feet are on the ground and you are not holding on with your hands.

Faith is one of the featured dancers in Enrique Inglesias' video Dirty Dancer.

"Faith is a classical ballerina who trained with the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance. She currently holds her professional pole dancing status with the U.S. Pole Dance Federation. She has been featured on Vertical Pole Challenge, Exscape TV and Emilee Wilson's Pole Masters."

If I remember correctly about a year or two ago also she was out of dance for a while due to a surgery…..yep!  it was back in 2009.  Here is her PoleSkivvies interview:

There is a fine line between death grip and no grip.  For my students I have them do a pole hold with knees bent and when they start getting to a point that they cannot hold themselves up any longer I have them loosen their grip until they are on the ground, still on their knees.  They learn really quick how to control their grip!

Roamy…this has been posted all over here and FB for the last several months.  The featured blogs on the side also were talking about this if you did not see any of the posts.  A good place to look for any event is in the event section of this website.

Why am I not surprised that someone here knows them?  Amy, that is freaking cool as anything!  I sent an email today stating how stoked I was when I heard about them being at Thunder this year and wondering if they were bringing any of their aerial toys.

Charley….can you say ROAD TRIP??!!  I still have one bed open in the RV for the weekend.  You and the man are more than welcome to it so it would only be time and gas (and drinking money), plus Yankies has an outdoor pole!  The rally is Sept 8-11.  Taxi into town is $1 a person.  Or if you are into tenting you can bring the whole Detroit crew down and set up on our site.  It is supposed to be in the 70's and gorgeous all next weekend!

Glitter has her video up on facebook and Charley has hers posted on youtube (you ahve to look on her account as it is not labelled as the comp).

Charley took 2nd in elite, Sara Bella took first, not sure who toook third.  I believe Noelle took first in the Masters division.

So if you are inverting with the pole on your right side then you cannot grip with your left leg?

For this I was able to get my positioning better if I start with a chopper and then put my left leg in place.  It really is a balancing act.  Make sure that the left foot and lower leg are pointing toward the ground.  The leg positioning is totally difefrent for outside leg hang than it is for inside.

First off, that video has to be RAELLY old because no one teaches you to "kick up" into an invert any more.  I call these inside leg hang and outside leg hang…which are you having problems with?  You say right leg two times in the post below.

I will pose a question on FB to see if anyone can remember.  I do not think it was here but can't remember if it was on FB or on the old PJ forum.

Waht she said!  Once you get more used to this you will find yourself using different parts of your legs.  When I ma first teaching how to climb I will end up with bruises on my feet because I am doing things in slo-mode but I grip more between my knees  and ankles now when I climb.

VB….I remember seeing a studio that had free standing poles that screwed into the floor.  It was kind of a neat set up.  They had little plates that fit over the holes when the poles were not up.  I think it was over in the UK somewhere but I cannot remember the studio or whose album I saw it in.  It was about 2 years ago when I saw this.

I teach a few nights a week and am covered under the owners insurance as a part time employee.  I am however seeking my own insurance coverage just beacuse it would make me feel better.  I am not certified and have mixed feelings about the certifications that are out there (there are several threads on this issue).  Rates in my area are usually anywhere from $20-50 per class (instructor pay).  PDC US is going to start offering pole insurance in the next few weeks.  This is who I am looking into getting insured through as they have set this up specifically for pole instructors and pole studios.

Ceilings are just drywall attached to the wood supports usually with screws or nails.  I personally would use a 2×2 section of at least 1/2 inch plywood or even drywall, attach it to your ceiling where you uintend to put up your pole and voila!
