    Thanks, Phoenix Hunter. Maybe you took the edge off my disappointment around not getting a Star Stage. 😉

    I don’t know about getting a used stand alone pole. There’s too much at risk to trust someone to sell me a sound pole.

    apolemorphic: You might get the splits by Christmas. I’ve never had the splits either – oh, wait, I was able to do the middle splits ONCE when I was and adolescent. I have a hip replacement (5 yrs old now) and I think I will be able to get the side splits on one side safely and comfortably. I’m pretty far away, too, so we will see. But hey, its the journey, not the destination, ay? It’s who you become in the process of where you are going, whether you ever really get there or not, and that who we will become whether we get the splits or not is more flexible, baby.

    I’m doing Veena’s side splits routine every second or third day.

    I was in, then I was out, then I was in, then I was out, now I’m in again. Doh!
    My left sartorius muscle has not been takin’ kindly to the splits work. I think it’s an ancient injury from childhood, at least that’s what the muscle memory is that I get around it.
    But I did Veena’s spits routine the other day for the first time (I was doing a splits routine that I had found elsewhere on the web and it wasn’t going so well for my sartorius) and my sartorius and hamstrings did great with it, so I’m back in. hehe.

    I’m still not clear on how many days a week to train splits, though. ??

    Muscle is not built on top of fat. That’s just not the arrangement of things. From deep to superficial the arrangement is bone, muscle, superficial fascia – where the fat is, and then the skin.

    I’ve been working on acceptance of my body ever since my dad thought it was cute to call me “Buddha belly” when I was 12. When Jay Shultz referred to me as “pleasantly plump” around age 14. I’ve exercised ever since then and prayed to God not to give me an ass like my mother’s. I began poling in August 2014 and seeing all the different body types and the strength and grace possible no matter what the body shape has really sealed it for me. I love my body now more than ever thanks to my pole experience. 🙂

    Day 30 of start challenge DONE. Complete. Fine’.
    Now, I will add one more class per week, continue to practice the group routine for the fall showcase and start to work on my solo for the spring showcase. Yeah, I’m a newbie and I’m goin’ for it. 🙂

    I think she must have changed v-sit out for leg lifts.

    Question: What is a “V sit?”
    I revisited the ab challenge ‘calendar’ to write it down in my notebook and I see that there is a “v sit” added to it that I believe was no there when I wrote it down about a month ago.
    Is a “v sit” going from supine position to hip flexion with the upper and lower body shaped in a ‘v?’
    I didn’t find it using the search field and I don’t see it in the youtube video of the ab challenge exercises. Am I missing something?

    @ Wild Lotus: You absolutely must FOCUS on what you can do. What you focus on is what magnifies. Our brains / psyches are going to dwell on something no matter what. What it dwells on is within our control. We consciously CHOOSE what to dwell on all the time. Simply dwell on what you CAN do, then simply do it.

    I’m not dead yet! I have finished days 28 & 29 of the ab challenge. I swear I’m going to finish the ab challenge and the Start Challenge. Yep, I’m in true form, i.e., I’m fast and furious out of the gate and then I s l o w, creep, grab for the finish. I think I heard T. Harv Ecker say “How you do anything is how you do everything.”
    What I have left to do is day 30 of the ab challenge and days 28, 29, 30 of the start challenge.
    I declare that:
    I will complete day 30 of the ab challenge and day 28 of the start challenge today (10/23/14);
    I will complete day 29 of the start challenge tomorrow (10/24/14);
    I will complete day 30 of the start challenge on 10/28/14.
    There. I have my word at stake and a clear, realistic plan. Success is mine. I CAN do this (and so can you, damn it). 😀

    Completed Day 26 & 27. It wasn’t my strongest day, but I attempted everything at least 2-3 times. …just stay focused on what I CAN do…

    Day 25 & 26 of the ab challenge done! Yes, I am still in the game. It took me three days to feel mostly recovered from last Saturday. Gads. I have this lateral epicondylitis that flared it’s ugly head after the extra poling last Saturday. That shit is slowin’ me down, dang it. I’m a body worker and it is killing me that I have not ‘cured’ it yet with my trigger point super-powers. lol.
    Yesterday I got half way through day 25 of the take-off challenge. Only half way because I was interrupted by my new duties as the pole studio. They invited me to be the front-desk person three days a week (4.5hrs / week) in exchange for a free membership! Score! That is the perfect little gig for me. 🙂 So now I have to reorganize my own pole time. I’m going to complete both these challenges no matter how long it takes me.

    Star Date Day 25 : Well, today was the day. I thought I would be immune from this day, but today was the first day that I missed doing any of the ab / take-off challenge. Yep. I kicked my own ass today. I totally wasn’t present to getting the challenge work done at the pole studio (I do not have a home pole) between the pole class and the choreography workshop. (They were both so much fun.) On top of doing twice as much pole as I am yet accustomed to, I moved up a level on my Reformer Pilates practice. (Subconsciously, I had earlier decided I was not going to do the challenge exercises because of the extra exercise load.) On top of that, I think I needed a down day about three days ago. So, no challenge exercises today and none tomorrow, I do declare. I will resume and finish on Monday, with day 25. Between now and then you can find me squirming around on my foam roller / Yamuna balls. 😀

    Vdub : when I can deadlift into a shoulder mount I’m gonna cry. I’ve been using visualization to forward my progress and I cry just imagining I can do some of the intermediate/advanced accomplishments. lol. Pole stirs something deep in my soul. It touch, moves inspires all of my souls…

    That sounds like a good plan, Juicy Dior. Also, it sounds like you and I are at about the same level – I’m at the point of working on sits and climbs, too. Hello, Pole Sister. 😉
