Btw I’m talking about my vajay jay, never had a booty fart on the pole. I refuse to pole if I’m gassy to avoid embarrassment lol

Yep right there w/ya sister! And maybe this is TMI but I’ve noticed that I only get it really bad the few days before my period is due. So I started to steer clear of pole class around my period lol. Sure, I’ll practice at home during that week but I skip class lol

Fave moves that I currently have are gemini/scorpio switch & butterfly. My fave moves that I eventually want hopefully later this year at some point are the Ayesha & Cartwheel mount.

    I’ve lost my butterfly & superman 🙁

  • Also what has helped on my end too is dressing up in a cute outfit, turning down the lights, lighting some candles & pole dancing just for my husband every 2-3 months (once I get a few new moves/combos down), so he sees that theres a good side to it for him too 😉

  • I agree w/Kenzie try & get him more involved in helping you pole…not every night you practice now have you but at least a cpl times per week. My hubby had moments where he seemed majorly jealous of my poling but once I started involving him in my journey, he loosened up alot. Don’t get me wrong, my husband still has his moments but things are greatly improved since I started involving him w/my poling more.

Also talk to your bf & ask him why he feels the way he does when you pole…is it that he feels left out? is it that he feels poling is more important to you than he is? etc. Try to get to the root of whats bothering him & why. Then work on a compromise.

Maybe try & schedule pole practice when he is asleep (wake up early on weekends for example), or pole when hes at work or out w/the guys.

Or re-adjust your pole practice, so that say you tell him ill spend 2 hours a week (2 days a week for 1 hour) on pole & the rest of the week belongs to you, just give me 2 uninterrupted hours a week for poling.

And sitting on the couch is no good, maybe talk to him about doing other things during the week like taking a walk a couple times a week after dinner, going to a art gallery opening, checking out a new artist at the coffee house up the street etc. Do stuff OUT together, being cooped up in the house all the time is no bueno.

Good luck! I’ve been where you are & its tough…you just have to keep trying to work through it with him & hopefully eventually he will come around.

Time, practice, preserverance & patience are BIG factors in poling. Keep in mind that we all learn at different speeds, so don’t be so tough on yourself, just try to enjoy your pole journey & celebrate the little accomplishments you make in pole because they will lead to bigger accomplishments in the near future 🙂

I am an older dancer (over 40) with an average figure, NO flexibility & minimal coordination at this age of my life lol & I’ll admit that it has taken me a lil longer (3 years) to progress & get to the advanced level of poling…but I’ve gotten here with alot of sweat, blood & tears. You can do it too, just cut yourself some slack, let go & have fun!

February 13, 2013 at 7:38 am in reply to: Do your children pole too?

My son is 8 & my daughter is 5 & both monkey around on the pole. My son is really good at climbing it & had developed really toned arms & was getting a 6 pk belly from climbing my pole 6-8+ x a day!

My pole has been down for 2 months & wouldnt you know it my sons belly has now got a little pudge! Putting the pole back up next week, he & I both need to get back on it, it was keeping us fit! I’m fine w/my kids poling for as long as they want to, I see nothing wrong with it, it is a great exercise.

After 3 years of travel all around the USA, with my ipod on every trip, I have somehow managed to lose my ipod touch locally smdh. I’m soooo incredibly sad, & mad @ myself…that thing was my lifeline, I feel so empty without it & poling to radio station music (damn commercials every 5 mins) just is NOT the same 🙁

I have several…but my main ones are elbow & handstands they scare the crap out of me & the SM– I think I’m going to put the above on the back burner for awhile.

Also on my nemesis list is floorwork, executing smooth transitions & combos, extended butterfly, SG & EG Ayesha. All on my list of goals for 2013!

Elbow stands are a good & safe way to work up to handstands. Using a wall serves as a great baby step & really helps. I am terrified of elbow/handstands but have been working on them here & there. One day, one day i’ll nail em. PS Alot of instructors & pole professionals caution against doing headstands too dangerous…you can get the same wow factor w/a elbow/handstand.

My xpole does both but I keep it on static. But I got the pole that did both to keep my options open, just in case one day I woke up & decided that I want to learn everything on spin mode. However, I’ve been poling about 3 years & I do not do well on spin, never have, I definitely prefer static 100% but still like to know that spin mode is available to me if I ever change my mind.

Wanted to add but make a plan if you want to switch careers, just dont jump ship cold turkey because the job market is really tough out there…ive been unemployed for almost a year & not by choice…theres just too many unemployed people & not enough jobs out there. Hang in there really narrow it down to what new career you want to try & then only quit your current job when you have a job lined up in your new chosen profession. Good luck!

I felt the same about my last job! (I got laid off last April). My boss just wanted what was safe & do the job he never wanted to try anything new or think outside of the box and he was super cheap, & didnt get that sometimes you have to spend $ to make $ concept. And me being a person who is always creative & thinking of new ideas & ways to do things it was a suffocating, boring, non challenging job. I definitely think by working there 11 years, I totally wasted my BA in Journalism/PR.

So I started thinking of other things I wanted to do & I ended up seriously thinking about nursing. Always been interested in it, just ended up taking a different career path, which I now regret. Also, I’m very good at event planning, so I’ve been considering event & wedding planning as well. Also have been thinking about getting personal training cert, getting xpert trained & then teaching pole classes (just for fun & part time). Theres just so much I want to do & try!

I love keeping busy & being challenged, I’ve always been that way…

I think there is nothing wrong with changing careers a cpl times in life because yolo & you should do what makes YOU content & happy in your life.

January 9, 2013 at 11:25 am in reply to: Has anyone else gone through a rut to this degree yet?

I’m right there with ya! Currently in a bad rut (haven’t poled for over a month now & my pole has been down for 2 months) & trying desperately get out of it.

About 2 days ago, I started back up with my daily stretching, push ups, sit ups & using my lil 5# weights for my arms. Just trying to work on gaining a lil strength back first before getting back on the pole.

Also, I’ll be in Vegas next week for a gig, so I think I’m going to go to Fawnia’s studio on a free evening I have. For me, visiting another studio or doing a new physical workout for a bit is always a good source for resetting focus & inspiration, so I am hoping that will help. Thank goodness I’ve still been doing Zumba while on hiatus though, otherwise I think my body & muscles would really be a bloody mess if I wasnt doing pole and Zumba. I’m happy everything is still tight & right. Thank you Zumba 🙂

When I get a job again, I want to become xpole certified & ACE or AFAA certified & I fully plan to expand on the aerial arts and try lyra/hoop & silks. I guess those are a couple of my my goals/resolutions for the new year in a way…

Yep #1 and #3 are DEFINITELY me all the way

I have a few poler problems to add:

Finally nail a move after weeks of sweat and tears and then when you go to show someone(who doesn't pole) suddenly you can no longer do it. WTF?

You can do a move consistently in the pole studio and/or using someone elses pole but when you get home, it's like you never nailed it

You trip in regular shoes (I trip ALOT in my tennis shoes and bare feet lol) but in stilettos or platforms you could dance a ballet without faultering or a single stumble. The bigger the heel the better you dance lol

You get spare $$$ and the first thing you do is look for something, anything pole related to buy with the extra $–I've had like $5 extra once and was pissed that I couldn't find anything pole related to buy with the $$$ lol

When you f up a move royally, you ARE recording and when you nail a move you AREN'T recording

Glad the talk went well. My hubby is alot more supportive now but in the beginning, his attitude was hit or miss about my poling. But once I started involving him more in my pole world, letting him see what i was doing & why i enjoyed it (showing him amazing competition vids, took him to my pole studio performance nights etc), have him spot me when im learning new moves, have him watch me do moves or routines to make sure my extentions & lines are good, he helps me stretch etc. I ask his advice on certain moves I am struggling with (sometimes you just cant feel or see what you are doing wrong–my husband has helped me nail quite a few trouble moves by noticing that my leg wasnt extended enough or that i wasnt holding at the correct contact point etc). He is pretty strict & critical though, so hes a tough coach, so sometimes i have to cut his involvement off when he gets to be too nit picky…it becomes too much to handle lol
Ofcourse I still have my pole private times without his involvement or input but i def dont hesitate to call him over to ask for his help when i need it & i think that has made all the difference in how he sees my poling world now because i dont exclude him completely from it.

January 6, 2013 at 6:44 am in reply to: How much strength do CKR/CAR take?

I think it has alot to do with core & thigh muscle strength, & thigh skin tolerance build up. Like it took me a couple months to get my pole sit which is the first thigh hold you learn. Then plank, basic invert & inverted crucifix are other thigh hold dependent moves that generally help you build up to your CAR & CKR Once you get your pole sit, plank, basic invert, inverted crucifix down, the CAR will be a lil easier to “get” the mechanics of & execute. I do think core strength helps with these moves as well.
