It took me 3 months to climb and most 2 years to have a strong basic invert 🙂
ive mastered my fow, body rolls, and hip circles in between.
In my opinion, (and this may or may not offend some people) but I personally think a routine with trick after trick is ugly… Yes the strength is amazing and that blows me away.. But give me the sexy, slinky rolls and floor work in between.
Self expression- thats what pole dance is 🙂

blood, bruises, sweat, and lots of tears (for me anyways)

i swear on my OWN grave that is gets better…

So you go to the lovely new studio The Chrome Bar by the sensational Alethea Austin? If so, you are Lucky! 😉
I have found myself in the same black hole for 2 years. The studio that was worth a damn in my area, closed a year ago.
There is another one that popped up that I’ve been dying to try, I just havent had time to go yet.
My best friend tried pole the other day at my house and loved it, so thankfuly she wants to continue but this is only recent.
My best advice is to do a skype jam with another poler that you seem to make friends with here.
No they are not physically in the room with you, but they are virtually there.
Its the same thing, but she isnt there to catch you if you fall, but she will be there to help you conquer other obstacles!
    Hope I could help 🙂

Yah Im thinking a mat is going to be my next investment. i want a second pole but a mat would probably be smarter to purchase first.
    What mat do you have?

CAR and advanced plank scares the fuck out of me (sorry for language, haha but its the truth)

I can do both moves but never feel secure. Its a hit and miss for me. I almost fell out of advanced plank and i wasnt close to falling out of CAR but it still makes me very uneasy.
Its a move I have to go at a few times and feel really secure before i lean back.
I really should practice it more and invest in a mat. I think it would help

Splits are so much harder and intense if you are squared. Ive practice squaring from the moment I start splits training, now squaring is second nature.
Sitting into them for a minute at a time for 3 sets will do you wonders.
Have you looked into the Valentino Brothers??
They have dvds or you can download there series.
The also have virtual classes. I took two last week.. Its like being in a real class and Emil watches your form. He will tell if you’re doing it right and how to maximize your stretch.

    I already feel a difference!
Alethea’s Dvds and Veenas stretching videos got my into my splits last year when i never did one in my life.

Emil is helping me go that step further.
    Good luck in your stretching.

maybe if she did a video and explained her situation since she says she is not good with computers, it would help? Maybe make a tutorial or routine video for a donation for the business.
Sarah if this is you above, We love your talent. Sharing something new with us through video would probably clear the air (as some mentioned already) and would definitely draw the community to you even more and we would be willing to help!

    there is so much variety.
if you are at the int/adv. level, they offer one with Zoraya.
They also have Contortion advanced pole with Anastasia S.
There is lots of options for all levels! 🙂

I also want to add– I took Lou Landers Beginner Polesations workshop.
We learned a dance routine with body rolls and booty popping!
She put in pirouettes and like one or two tricks.. one was a wrist seat variation without even taking both hands off the pole. We only climbed once in the whole routine.
Definitely doable. I was a little sore because it was a cardio/butt workout. But I actually kept up with it. Booty shaking is super fun to me!
I think Lou is teaching at Pole Expo. If they offer beginner polesations, you should take it!
    🙂

    You should absolutely go!
I went to Pole Con in LA last June. I was could not invert without jumping.
    I was total beginner then.
    I learned so much!
I did feel a little left out when i took marion crampe’s workshop because her tricks were too advanced for me, but I definitely wasnt the only one who just watched!
Till the day I die, I will never forget how she broke down the marion amber trick!
And not just that, all of the shows and vendor booths!!!!!
I also too a private with Alethea Austin. That alone felt like it was worth the trip! She worked with me really well regardless of my skill level!

    Where are you traveling from?
Try to bring a friend with you that into pole if you can.
I brought a friend and she wasnt really into pole, plus she ended up getting sick so I walked the whole convention by myself… except for the showcases on saturday.
    it was still fun!!!
