As a student, I have enjoyed learning about how studio owners run their spaces.
From watching Body and Pole in Ny, and Choreography House in LA, and random cities here and there, and hoping to one day visit these studios when i feel my trip their will be worth while.
I think Aerial/Pole conditioning classes are a must along with flexibility classes.
The studios in my area do not have certified or knowledgable instructors, so I have strictly a home poler.
I am not where i would like to be in my strength, but I definitely know the difference between the jade and gemini. So instructors should know the terminology like the back of their hand and know how to properly execute, explain in multiple ways, and spot the student.Crash mats, Crash Mats, Crash mats.
If you plan to keep a good client base, they will advance, and so should safety.Check of Rikki’s studio on facebook(she is a member here) she is very active on updating. With this technology age, people get a glimpse by looking you up on facebook. So if I were in your position I would spend sometime taking good pics of the studio space and update it frequently with schedules, specials, etc. Have fun with it and be creative. Engage with potential students online 🙂
Rikki’s studio is called Defiance Studios.
Search all kind of studios around the world, go to their sites and look at their schedules. Get a feel for what you like and dont like and make a list, if you have done this already, repeat 😉I am a studio stalker. I envy all the creative spaces around the world!
Congratulations and good luck!!

What a fun post! First, I want to say congratulations for entering your first competition!!
I dream of the day of performing. I dont want to compete, but I would love to perform in front a small crowd and do the whole works of dressing up with the big hair and makeup!
I really LOVE all of Amber Ray’s costumes, she is out of Australia. Which Im sure you have heard of her if you are active in the pole community on Facebook!I can attach the photo from my phone on this post. But go to Amber ray’s facebook (its not private) go to the “costumes I’ve made album”
One in particular that i dream of owning is a black lace two piece, she is in the Iron X pose while wearing this outfit! I thinks its so beautiful!!!
She is very talented!
Kelly Maglia also makes beautiful costumes, but i think she is on the pricey sideI dont how much time you have, but if you’re feeling crafty, browse around on the sale racks at your local mall and find ideas on youtube how to spruse it up and customize it to make it your own!
I LOVE Long flowy hair that can be wipped around in a performace, if thats your style!
Unfortunately, I have medium length THIN non-flowy hair so If I were ever to perform I would go for extensions and a sexy poofy ponytail like Lou Landers! Please tell me you are going to record your performance?? Because I love your past videos you’ve posted!
Good luck -
Poledanceromance- I dont think your advice requires an apology. I think you offered well supported knowledge to this issue that the poster asked for. I had to be extremely careful for the first 9 months with my belly button piercing. Neosporin made my infection worse, I didnt know any better at the time. I wish someone would have gave me your advice 7 years ago.
What cured my infection and healed my belly button was an entire summer of going to the beach and swimming in the salt water pools. -
unfortunately there is no way around this issue… any professional pole ALWAYS pays for itself. good luck.

obviously it has been a while since this post was started and has since ressurrected..
there are exceptions and grey areas in EVERY situation.
I think trust comes with maturity from both people in a relationship.
There are certain sexual acts that I would never participate in.. I dont consider going to a strip club to be on the scale of a sexual act (at least in my book) but for some people it is.. For those of you that refuse the strip club idea, have you ever enjoyed watching porn with your partner?? I view as the same thing its just in a strip club its live…
The girls want your money. They have other clients in the room, you wont always get boob action if its busy and if you arent throwing big bills.
Going to a strip club with your partner can be a really fun experience. It was nothing less than fun and exciting everytime my fiance and i went…
I consider this a cultural issue as well. Strip clubs are big where I live…
We know what to expect when we go, to spend at least 200$ after covers, drinks, and tips for the girls.
So i wouldnt consider myself to have a psychological issue either (im with you on that PlatinumAni)
in my case, its socially acceptable and i accept and personally enjoy it… so i certainly wouldnt mind if my man went with his friends for a bach party because ive experienced it and know what to expect… -
going shopping tomorrow for this! yay
-
thank you for this. i have been considering a hammock and a lyra! i might have to wait until pole expo but this is still a good reference!

I have always prided StudioVeena and its members to not bring such controversial issues to this site. This issue is very divided and the media has definitely had its hands deep into this one, in my opinion. I think to keep this site at a neutral stand point and free of outside controversies of the world, this discussion should be left to facebook or other social media sites… or hey, private message on Veena inbox?
Just my two sense and only a suggestion…
And I can't speak for others, but I wouldn't be surprised if others felt the same, but didn't feel comfortable saying so.
Happy poling ladies.

they are super cute!! but i would only pay this much for a pair lululemon pants not bad kitty… the pole fit pants are 40$ though, i might buy a pair of those at pole expo if i like the stiching and material
-

I do not have an injury. My fear of one inhibits me from progressing. Self doubt and getting past initial feelings to execute or “dig in” to a trick.😉

I have the same questions as Lyme.
My fear of an injury and falling has inhibited me from putting 100% into learning new tricks, when i know i have the strength to do so. -
CapFeb– you are hilarous! he is a sexy man, i agree!
in my opinion, you shouldnt worry about wasting an instructors time. you are paying them for their service. regardless of your level (and i know you are advanced), you will not, i repeat, NOT, be the only that will need adjustments.
i witnessed this first hand at pole con last year.I can empathize with how you feel, but dont feel unworthy to take a particular workshop.
In Marion Crampe workshop at pole con (was for all levels) I thought i would be the only person that couldnt invert at the time, I swear to you I wasnt!!!I learned her unique style of warm up and cool down. And until my death, I wil NEVER forget how she broke down the marion amber even though I am not even 80% close to having the strength to do it.
You will never lose out on taking any workshop…
Now obviously, i signed up for marions workshop last year because it specified for all levels.
I think Pole Expo is 100 times more organized and i like that they seperated the workshops into levels. So everyone has an idea of what is required 😉 -
i am interested in helping others! im not advanced but I would love to provide encouragement

i am considering going to the dermatologist for hyperhidrosis… I really think I have it… I have had a sweating issue since I hit puberty.. I sweat through men's over the counter clinical strength deodrant.. I now wear two different brands so I don't sweat through it… My feet barely sweat, but my hands are crazy sweaty..
It has gotten a little better since I have gained more strength, but it won't go away…
Thats why I'm thinking a doctor might be able to help… I just can't hold off much longer.

MemberMay 14, 2013 at 12:53 pm in reply to: I seriously need some words of encouragement!!its better to have 1-5 tricks in your bag that you feel comfortable to work towards that is within your range, and master them.
Then you can start setting other goals once you reach them.
Always start small.
I was frustrated when i started and ended up not doing it so often (once a week or every other week). My progress was very slow, but I tried not to think about it and I gave myself props for making any type of progress.
Now im at the point that i pole 3-4 times a weekly lately.
I dont have my first ever videos of pole on this site… But if you could see them, you wouldnt feel so bad. 🙂I really hope i could help because I’ve been where you are
